The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 95

Aroma

“It is merely my shoulder; cease contemplating the potential outcomes.”

She offers me a constrained smile and nods. She inclines to kiss me. It is evident that she intended to convey much through that kiss. Her profound affection for me, her essential need for my presence, and her deep gratitude for the opportunity to kiss me once more. She is my partner, and I assured her of my continued presence and commitment. The kiss escalated rapidly, and I heard someone clear their throat.

Celine withdraws, her cheeks displaying a pleasing hue of pink. I cannot refrain from smiling. “Apologies, Doctor,” she remarks with a grimace.

“I am not,” I assert playfully, while grasping her hand.

“It is not an issue.” I ought to have knocked. The doctor states, “I have noted a few recommendations for at-home care.”

“In residence?” Is he permitted to return home?Celine enquires.

“The doctor informed me that I am in satisfactory condition and that the beds are required for the injured soldiers, thus I am permitted to return home,” I stated.

“Understood,” she rises to retrieve the paper from him for examination. “Ought I not to monitor his vital signs?”“She enquires, her brows knitted.”

“I have never attended to anyone shot with a silver bullet, but considering the gravity of this situation. What if you overlooked a minor fragment of the silver?“She inquires.”

Doc’s expression illuminates, “Are you proficient in that skill?””

“My mother was a physician, and I frequently accompanied her,” she affirms.

“Could you replace his bandages?” Are you able to identify an infection?”

“Are there any distinctions when handling silver?””

“Negative.” “If you can monitor his vitals and change his dressings, I will not need to make house calls,” he remarked with a smile.

“If anything unusual arises, return him.” I will assemble some supplies for you to take. Bandages, blood pressure cuff, and so forth.

Celine expresses her gratitude, stating, “Thank you, Doctor.”

Cohen’s Perspective

I awaken in my bed, and the clock indicates 2 PM; I have been unconscious for several hours. I am pleased to observe that Celine is resting beside me. I am pleased that I insisted on returning home, as she would not be this at ease if I were in the hospital. I observe on the baby monitor that Alyssa is also napping late.

We arose exceptionally early this morning, thus we all require additional rest. I received potent analgesics that significantly alleviate my pain. I am uncertain whether the relief is due to the medication or my body’s natural healing process. Despite having slept approximately six hours, I still feel fatigued. The presence of silver indicates that healing will be prolonged; rapid werewolf recovery is not applicable in this case. I move nearer to Celine, ensuring our bodies make contact. I am unable to lie on my side to embrace her, yet the sensation of her presence beside me is comforting.

The sparks from the contact must have influenced her even in slumber, as she is turning and nestling against me. I gaze down at my beautiful pregnant partner, clad in my shirt, and I am filled with admiration for her. I regret causing her concern, and upon observing the presence of a firearm, I am even more thankful she was absent.

I prefer not to contemplate the potential consequences had she been involved. I am relieved that Alpha Johnson is secure, allowing a return to normalcy, alleviating concerns regarding potential threats to Celine or Alyssa. I require a new Beta. Alexis will assume the Beta position, necessitating the filling of my Gamma position. Colton is my most formidable warrior, thus it is logical. I will address it tomorrow, as I sense my eyelids becoming heavy once more.

“Babe… Cohen… Cohen,” I am awakened from slumber. The room is dim, except for the lamp beside me. The time is 8:06 PM, and Celine is beside me, rousing me from sleep.

“Darling, you must take your medication, or you will soon experience significant discomfort,” she cautions softly. It is too late. It appears that the analgesics have diminished in effect, resulting in significant discomfort. “Assume an upright position, infant.” I have also brought you dinner. I did not wish to disturb your slumber, but it is becoming late, and I wanted you to consume food and take your medication. Your body requires sustenance. Extend your hand; I shall assist you in rising.

She assists me in sitting up, arranges pillows behind me, then places a tray on the bed and promptly provides my medication.

“Thank you, darling, you are exceptional,” I rasp.

“What is your current emotional state?”She scowls.

“I am feeling quite well,” I wish to alleviate her concerns.

“Are you experiencing minimal discomfort?”She grimaces.

I am well, and this aroma is delightful. “I am abruptly famished,” I remark, gazing at my tray.

She prepared a substantial bowl of beef stew, accompanied by freshly made buttered buns on my tray. I immediately engage, and it is exceptionally enjoyable.
