The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 92

Epidermis

I am scanning the screen with great urgency as I attempt to locate him on the cameras. “Colton Leilani is indicated.” I nod, observing Colton engage in fierce combat. I swiftly continue scanning until I ultimately spot him. I observe a larger black wolf aggressively attacking other wolves.

“There he is,” I state, exhaling a discernible sigh of relief. Cohen is relentless! I am uncertain whether it is due to pregnancy hormones, as I should not be contemplating his attractiveness at this moment, yet I am. Witnessing him in his full Alpha splendour is alluring!

Cohen’s Perspective

We are all anticipating, with the majority concealing themselves. We wish to conceal from Alpha Johnson that we are all awaiting his arrival. He believes we are oblivious, and that the majority of my warriors are dormant and entirely unaware of his schemes. He also believes his army is significantly larger than it truly is. Gavin and his associates are with Alpha Johnson, along with the additional 350 individuals I recruited from him.

My allies are manoeuvring to the rear of Alpha Johnson’s forces. When he initiates his assault, we will encircle him. I aim to eliminate Alpha Johnson swiftly in order to terminate this situation. I detest that innocent individuals will perish due to the falsehoods propagated by Alpha Johnson regarding me.

Shortly after 5:30 am, they discreetly commence their incursion into our territory. We delay our response until they penetrate our territory as deeply as feasible before launching our assault. I am in my lupine form and prepared. The majority of these individuals are unaware of the true rationale behind their opposition to us. They perceive me as a despotic Alpha rather than a father safeguarding his child, which diminishes my sense of satisfaction regarding the lives I am about to extinguish.

Ultimately, we reveal ourselves. I observe that they instinctively recoil in astonishment, which positively impacts morale, although it is unnecessary. We significantly outnumber them.

They are frightened and astonished. Once the initial shock subsides, they commence their assault. A loud howl emanates from behind their warriors, signalling Gavin’s chosen ally for the day. I commence the assault. Numerous wolves occupy the frontlines; thus, as I assault the initial few, I lunge for their necks, severing their throats and discarding their lifeless forms in a singular, fluid motion. I observe that certain wolves alter their course upon witnessing me effortlessly eliminate their pack members. After approximately one minute, the number of wolves attacking me diminishes, and when possible, I refrain from inflicting a lethal strike. I will eliminate those necessary, yet I will also show mercy to those I can. Individuals with a fractured leg are unable to persist in combat. The majority are not malevolent individuals; they merely lack clarity regarding their true cause.

I am establishing a mental connection with my pack: “Inform me if you encounter Alpha Tim.”

I observe him. He is in proximity to the lake. A warrior establishes a mental connection with me.

I observe that my warriors are performing admirably in battle and asserting their dominance, thus I seize the opportunity to approach Tim. I sprint swiftly to the opposite side of the field, adjacent to the lake. I wish to conclude this expeditiously.

I observe one of my warriors immobilised by another wolf. The other wolf is advancing to sever his neck, prompting me to alter my trajectory and propel myself swiftly to liberate my warrior. Tim’s warrior was oblivious to my approach as my teeth rapidly pierced his throat, resulting in a swift neck fracture. I pause briefly to examine my warrior. He appears well and acknowledges me with a nod.

I observe Tim in the distance, and I perceive a look of realisation on his face. He recognises me. I am the most prominent wolf present, thus I am difficult to overlook. He rapidly transforms into a sizable grey wolf, though not nearly as large as I am. He emits a howl and begins to charge at me. He must despise me and be extremely angry. I not only killed his son, but he has also come to understand that I have recruited a significant portion of his army, and I was ready for him.

I am relieved that I do not need to pursue him. The contest will lack fairness, to be candid. He is the same age as my father. His son was an effortless target. I am uncertain whether he believes he will genuinely kill me, yet I begin to advance towards him as well. As I approach, I perceive a deafening noise.

EXPLOSION!

A man to my right is firing at me. That firearm would undoubtedly contain silver bullets. I identify the man as one of Derrick’s associates who accompanied him that day. It must be his Beta or Gamma variant.

He presumably realised he could not defeat me, which is why he brought a firearm to this confrontation. I run at an accelerated pace. If I can reach Tim, this individual will be compelled to cease firing for fear of injuring his own Alpha. The echo of another gunshot reverberates in my ears, and I experience a sharp pain in my shoulder.

The sound of another gunshot reverberates in my ears, and I experience a sharp pain in my shoulder.

He struck me! Expletive! It appears as though time nearly halts. Regardless of my desire to cease, I compel myself to continue progressing. Every step of my paws is intentional, and I perceive my surroundings, yet all is muted. I experience intense, piercing pain pulsating through my shoulder. The pain is so intense that I must decelerate slightly, yet I will not cease. I heard another shot resonate, yet this time I felt nothing. He failed to hit. I observe the individual who was firing at me is now being dismembered by Brandon. It was indeed a silver bullet, and it remains embedded within me. I can sense it searing through my epidermis. It is exceedingly painful.
