The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 68

Manner

I returned approximately thirty minutes ago. I placed a lasagna and peach cobbler, which I had prepared last week, into the oven. “I acquired a wedding dress,” she beams.

“Do you cherish it?”“I enquire, and she maintains her smile while nodding.”

“Is it a formal wedding gown or an informal dress?””

Indeed, it is a wedding gown. “It may not be a grand princess-style gown, but it represents me, and I adore it,” she exclaims.

“I am pleased.” I desire your affection for it.

“Where will our wedding take place?”She enquires while shaking my waist, her excitement seemingly uncontainable.

“You will soon discover,” I jest and seize a kiss.

“Incidentally, I have not yet informed my parents.” “We ought to visit them post-dinner,” I grimace.

“Alas.” I anticipated you would convey the news to them. Why not contact them and extend an invitation for dinner if they have not yet dined? Perhaps we can ingratiate ourselves with them through culinary offerings initially. “I consistently produce a substantial amount,” she asserts.

I will contact them to enquire.

Upon concluding my call, I return to the kitchen where Alyssa and Celine are collaboratively preparing a salad. Alyssa proclaims, “I am a significant contributor, Daddee.”

“You are an immense assistance!” You are very kind to assist Mother in preparing dinner. I am exceedingly proud of you!She exhibits a proud smile. I admire her innocent expression of appreciation for compliments. She is exceedingly kind.

“What is your inquiry?” What was stated by them?Celine disrupts my contemplation.

“Indeed, they are approaching.” My mother was reheating leftover takeaway in the microwave when my father discarded it immediately upon my invitation’, I chuckle as I recount the incident to her. My parents have dined several times in recent weeks, and they appreciate Celine’s culinary skills. As I complete the table setting, I hear a knock at the door, followed by my parents entering uninvited.

“Greetings, everyone!”I shout.

“Grandfather and Grandmother have arrived, Alyssa!”“I inform her.”

She exits, and Gramps is prepared to embrace her warmly. My parents both adore Alyssa and Celine as well. My father is quite infatuated with Alyssa. He consistently surreptitiously provides her with treats, and although we are presumably meant to remain oblivious, Alyssa’s exuberance compels her to disclose this in his presence. I merely roll my eyes at him when he enquires, “What?”He raises his arms as if he is completely unaware of the situation.

Celine adores it; consequently, I appreciate it as well. If it elicits joy and laughter from my partner, I shall never express discontent. My parents enter the kitchen.

“The aroma is delightful.” What is being prepared? My father enquires.

“Lasagna, garlic bread, and peach cobbler for dessert,” Celine responds, eliciting a satisfied groan from my father.

Dinner will be prepared in 20 minutes. Shall we procure a beverage and convene outdoors?Celine provides. I procure wine for my mother and Celine, and a beer for my father and myself.

We are all seated in the backyard as Alyssa leaps on her trampoline. I was correct; she unequivocally adores it. Father’s victory!

Celine is evidently not pregnant, as she is consuming wine. What message did you wish to convey to us?My mother enquires. We are attempting to maintain composure.

Celine telepathically communicates with me to convey the message.

“I made a proposal to Celine this afternoon,” I begin. My parents are full of excitement, and so are we. My parents extend their congratulations, and Celine is displaying her ring to my mother. Following a brief conversation, Celine informs my parents about our romantic picnic in the forest. Indeed, the initial segment of it, at least.

My father enquires, “Have you established a date yet?”“I establish a mental connection, Celine,”

-It is now your turn. Convey that message to them!-

She smiles and playfully rolls her eyes at me, “We have.” Prepare yourself… Tomorrow! She exits, and my parents regard us with astonished, wide-eyed expressions.

“Where?”“Mother inquires.”

“I am uncertain,” Celine responds, and we both begin to laugh.

However, my parents are not. Mother is observing us with particular apprehension.

“Are you unaware?”“Does my father repeat?”

“She is unaware.” I am aware. I am managing the wedding arrangements. She merely needed to procure a dress for herself and Alyssa,” I elucidate.

“Are you eloping, or are we invited?”My father contemplates vocally.

“You are unequivocally invited.” Celine responds, “That is the reason we summoned you.”

“She merits an appropriate wedding,” my mother admonishes me with little conviction.

The wedding is inconsequential regardless. Celine asserts, “It pertains to the marriage,” as she grasps my hand, unaware that I require no defence. I squeeze her hand, and kiss her knuckles.

“Simply trust that we understand what is most advantageous for us,” I assert. The remainder of the night was characterised by exquisite cuisine, and once the initial surprise subsided, we enjoyed a pleasant evening collectively.

“I will tidy up, darling, while you put Alyssa to bed.” “It is becoming late,” I suggest.

“Thank you, dear,” she states as she elevates herself to perch on the counter. “Visit me first; I am exhausted, yet I long for your presence,” she murmurs.

Despite our brief time together, I fully comprehend her intentions. I smile while approaching. I position myself between her legs, and she draws me closer. She encircles my waist with her legs to draw me nearer. I exhale with relief. Her scent, her caress, and, beyond that, the manner in which she loves me calms my spirit.

“MMM,” I hear escape her lips.
