The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 66

Availability

I noticed her voice tremble slightly when referring to her absent parents. This day must illuminate the reality of their absence from her life. “Frankly, I have not given it much consideration,” I admit.

“What if it is not implausible to be married by Friday?”“She enquires, wearing a smirk.”

“Do you wish to elope?”“I enquire, astonished.”

“Not precisely.” Brandon and my acquaintances will arrive on Friday. Perhaps we can request their presence tomorrow. Perhaps solely our family and intimate friends. We can marry at the courthouse, but only the significant individuals will be present with us. <text“She articulates her aversion to the idea of upsetting your parents or anyone else we hold dear.”

“I would be delighted to marry you tomorrow; however, are you certain this is your desire?”I confirm. I wish to prevent her disappointment.

This would indeed be ideal. I am not particularly concerned about the wedding. Marriage is of paramount importance, and we are essentially already united in matrimony. We bear one another’s imprints. “This is merely to ensure we share the same surname,” she elucidates. I am elated at the prospect of her becoming my wife tomorrow. It may seem irrational that I feel compelled to assert my claim over her in every conceivable manner, but I am an Alpha. I am exceedingly possessive. I cherish her and desire for all to recognise that she belongs to me. Exclusively mine.

“There will be no wedding at the courthouse.” Entrust it to me. I will assemble something. Acquire a dress for yourself.

“I possess several white summer dresses already,” she exclaims with delight.

“No, you require something novel, and not a summer dress.” Acquire a wedding gown.

We ought to rise. It is 2:30. <text”I must make several calls if this is to occur tomorrow,” I remarked with a smile. I draw her close and press my lips against hers. I kiss her gently, hoping she perceives the love and exhilaration I am experiencing.

As we part, I embrace her momentarily, stating, “You have brought me immense joy; I appreciate your affirmative response.” <text”I assure you that you will never question my affection for you,” I murmur, as I bestow gentle kisses upon her.

“I appreciate your inquiry.” “I love you, and I shall always do so,” she replies.

We return home on foot rather than sprinting in our lupine form. We deliberate on the individuals to invite. I informed her that she only needs to procure a dress for herself and Alyssa, and perhaps contact Brandon and her friends to advise them to arrive tomorrow instead of Friday. I will handle the remainder.

I proceed directly to my office at the packhouse. I wish to prevent Celine from overhearing the calls I intend to make. I aim to execute something extraordinary.

Telephone ringing

Victoria: Greetings, Cohen!

Greetings, Victoria!

Victoria: What was the outcome of the proposal?

It proceeded flawlessly! I greatly appreciate your assistance in setting it up. It exceeded my initial expectations. She adored it.

Victoria: I am delighted to learn this. Are you now an engaged man?

Affirmative! I exist. It is now time to organise the wedding. Prepare yourself; we have resolved to marry tomorrow.

Victoria: WHAT? Are you planning to elope?

I decline. The reason for my call is precisely that. I was hoping you could work your magic and set something set up by the lake on my property. [She’s a human, so she doesn’t realize it’s the packland and not my personal property]

Victoria: You gave me a week to set up the engagement, and now you want me to pull the wedding off in one day? [she questions, in disbelief.]

Me: Yes. Sorry. Can you do it? It’s for, I think, 18 people. I don’t care what it costs.

Victoria: Those are dangerous words, my friend. What do

you want?

Me: I was thinking a ceremony by the lake as the sun is setting, and then a tented area with lights, and decorated really nicely for dinner. Wedding cake. Wedding at 7-7:30 and then dinner. Concluded by 9:30? We cannot participate in the entire party due to a significant event that necessitates our alertness the following day.

Victoria: When you mention a desire for exquisite decoration, you are referring to superior quality, correct?

Indeed.

Victoria: It is simply unfeasible to fulfil your request within that timeframe. I must begin anew, and I am unable to provide you with what you desire at the level of quality you seek. Furthermore, when I affix my name to a project, I desire it to embody the meticulous attention to detail that my team and I uphold. Indeed, I am aware of a particular location. Although it is situated in the city and lacks the ‘natural’ ambiance you envisioned, I can enhance its aesthetic appeal if I secure the booking.

This is the rooftop of a 50-story edifice. The max capacity is, I think, 40-50, so it could work. The rooftop has this high pergola with twinkling lights and there is lots of greenery. Tomorrow is a Thursday, so I might be able to get it on short notice. This place is so beautiful already, that my team can really make it exquisite in a very short amount of time. I could totally make something work.

That appears to be excellent. I am satisfied with that. I desire for it to be a source of happiness for her in retrospect. I wish for her to avoid regretting the hastily arranged wedding.

Victoria: For an intimate wedding, I believe I can enhance its appearance significantly. Why not contact them briefly to ascertain their availability?

Me: Excellent. Thank you very much.
