The Luna and Her Child – Chapter 104

Emptiness

“Indeed?” Hooray!She emits a high-pitched sound.

“And what do you suppose?” The cupcakes contain the secret regarding the baby’s gender.

Her eyes are wide. “I hope it is a girl, Mother.” I desire a sister. “The boys do not enjoy playing the activities I prefer,” she laments.

I experience a slight discomfort in my heart. I wish to prevent her disappointment.

“We will love a brother or sister equally, correct?”“I inquire.” She nods, albeit with limited enthusiasm.

If it is another boy, you will be the sole girl. Father’s sole rabbit!“I assert.” She exhibits a smile. “Perhaps another brother would not be detrimental,” she concedes.

Once Alyssa is attired, we proceed to the backyard with the boys. Cohen is in the water while the boys alternate jumping in, and Cohen is catching them. The laughter of my young sons and the sight of my attractive shirtless partner, beaming while enjoying time with our children, captivates me. How did I attain such fortune?

“Father!”Alyssa exclaims!

“Greetings, Bunny!”Cohen radiates joy. Alyssa leaps into the pool and subsequently swims towards him, whereupon he lifts her out of the water.

She is an exceptional swimmer. All of our children are educated early due to Cohen’s instruction. Dylan continues to utilise water wings when we are not in close proximity, but this will not persist for long.

Cohen expresses to Alyssa, “I missed you today.”

I also missed you, and do you know what? We acquired a frog at school today. She recounts her day to him, and he embraces her while enquiring about it; his eyes clearly reflect his adoration for her, which is reciprocated.

I cannot love or like him more than I currently do. I remove my dress, revealing a white one-piece adorned with frilly white straps.

“Damn, Mama,” Cohen remarks with a flirtatious grin as I enter the pool and approach him and the children.

We have approximately thirty minutes before guests arrive, but it is pleasant to enjoy some family time beforehand. Cohen and I engage in affectionate embraces and kisses while swimming with the children. Alyssa and Wyatt certainly express their disgust, yet it does not deter us. We simply laugh and proceed.

Cohen’s Perspective

Shortly, my parents arrive in the backyard, prompting us to exit the pool to welcome them. I promptly fill our outdoor cooler with ice and beverages, thereby preventing Celine from doing so.

Subsequently, Serena, Malik, and their two daughters, Nina and Bella, enter. Subsequently, Brandon, Brit, and their two-year-old son Waylon arrive. Finally, Leilani and Colton arrive, accompanied by Zion and their daughter Sophia. Celine and I are seated at the table alongside Colton, my parents, and Dylan. Dylan is perched on my mother’s lap with his sippy cup, while the others are engaged in swimming in the pool, bouncing on the trampoline, or playing in the sandbox. Days such as this, in the company of my family and friends, are unparalleled and heighten my awareness of the profound impact Celine has had on my life, rendering it significantly more fulfilling. I previously experienced profound emptiness.

Upon the arrival of the pizza, Celine and I enter the house to arrange the island as a buffet. She mixes the substantial salad she prepared, while I unseal the assorted pizza boxes, chicken wings, and breadsticks. I arranged several dishes and utensils, allowing everyone to assemble their plates.

Upon the conclusion of dinner, we seize the two trays of cupcakes prepared by Celine and capture everyone’s attention.

“We discovered the baby’s gender today and wished to convey the news.” Celine prepared these cupcakes, and the hue of the icing within the cake signifies the gender. “We will distribute them all, and then you can simultaneously bite into them to discover the outcome,” I elucidate.

We distribute them, and then Celine and I crouch down with our children to observe their expressions as they take a bite and discover the contents.

Celine announces, “3, 2, 1,” prompting everyone to take a bite. I hear laughter all around, but my focus is solely on my children at this moment. Dylan appears indifferent, while I observe Celine assisting Wyatt. “It is blue; you will have another brother,” she informs him.

The unfortunate individual wept uncontrollably. “Oh, Wyatt.” “Another brother will be quite enjoyable,” she attempts to console him.

“I desired a sister,” he laments. Celine gazes at me with a scowl that transforms into a laugh.

“Wyatt, a baby sister may not desire to engage in the same games as you.” Alyssa prefers not to play with the same toys as you. I assure him, “You will enjoy yourself with a brother, I promise.”

He continues to weep, prompting Celine to lift him and embrace him tightly, murmuring, “Everything will be alright.” I perceive the snickers surrounding me. All are observing Wyatt’s adverse reaction to the news. I observe that Alyssa appears to accept the news quite well, which astonishes me.

Alyssa, you appear pleased to have a brother. Are you not disheartened that it is not a girl? I understand you desired a sister.

“No, I have reconsidered.” I desire a brother. “I desire to be your sole Bunny,” she beams and embraces me. My cardiac organ. She is exceedingly delightful.
