“Mm?”
“What is our relationship now?”
“You are my wife. What do you think our relationship is?”
Thelma felt she had asked a silly question. She knew they were indeed husband and wife, but hadn’t they always been the kind of strangers who were married?
Thelma bit her lip, lowering her head, not daring to look at him. “Do you know that you can’t just kiss girls randomly under any circumstances? Once you kiss, you have to take responsibility.”
He should understand this, right? Thelma felt utterly embarrassed, her cheeks burning, and she hurriedly covered her face with her hands.
Sam Noah found her question amusing. Was she reminding him to take responsibility in a roundabout way? How was he supposed to be responsible? He had already brought her home as his wife.
Suppressing a laugh, Sam Noah replied in as serious a tone as he could muster, “I will take full responsibility.”
Thelma felt so excited that her whole body trembled, her smile nearly splitting her face. This feeling was truly wonderful, something she had never experienced before. She had only read about lovesick girls in poetry, and at that time, she found it unbelievable, thinking those girls were being overly sentimental. Only now did she truly understand that lovesick girls could feel this way; facing the one she liked, even a simple sentence from him could leave her excited for a long time. She hadn’t expected that she could be such a sentimental person too.
“Are you tired?” Sam Noah asked.
Thelma didn’t feel tired at all; she had no mood to sleep right now. However, lying on him felt a bit awkward, and she thought she should get up obediently, yet she also wanted to stay.
She felt it was too willful; what if he was tired? In a dilemma, Thelma weighed her options and simply said, “My legs are numb; I can’t get up.”
Sam Noah: “……”
Her tone was almost like a spoiled child, a gentle bomb.
Sam Noah had no choice but to instinctively comply with her. If her legs were numb, he would carry her as if they were her legs.
He picked her up and placed her on the bed, tucking her in with the blanket, then, very gentlemanly and even a bit cautiously, asked her, “Do you mind if I sleep next to you?”
Thelma didn’t dare look at his face; she shook her head, “I don’t mind.”
She didn’t mind at all!!
Sam Noah then lay down on the other side, just lying there, doing nothing, and gently said to her, “Good night.”
They had already kissed, yet he was still so graceful. Thelma felt he was incredibly gentle and considerate, a true gentleman with no ulterior motives, respecting her so much.
Thelma lay on her side, gazing at his face. The more she looked, the more handsome he seemed, the more satisfied she felt. Remembering that they had just kissed, her heart began to race again.
Thelma thought she was truly terrible; he respected her so much, yet she harbored impure thoughts about him. She quickly shook her head to clear her mind, but she was unwilling to sleep with a bit of distance between them.
She bit her lip, thought for a moment, and gently tugged at his shirt, saying, “Noah, I’m a bit cold.”
Without opening his eyes, the man simply pulled her hand forward, bringing both her and the blanket into his embrace.
A solid and warm embrace; Thelma found it hard to describe her excitement in words. She cautiously wrapped her arms around his waist. She hadn’t expected this day to really come; she was lying in bed with her idol, wrapped in each other’s arms.
It felt like a dream, and she didn’t want to wake up from it so soon. She held on, carefully feeling his warmth and breath, but eventually, she unknowingly fell asleep.
Sam Noah, however, remained wide awake. She slept soundly, rolling away from his arm after a while. Sam Noah wanted to place her head back on his arm but feared waking her, so he simply lay there watching her sleeping face, occasionally brushing her hair aside. He felt utterly bored, yet exceptionally satisfied.
Later, unable to sleep, he got up and poured himself a glass of wine. He walked to the floor-to-ceiling window; outside, the beach was lit with colorful lights, and he could see the sea stretching out before him, with the lights of countless homes on the shore.
Silence enveloped everything, yet his heart felt completely full.
