Was her meaning not a rejection? Thelma saw hope and quickly said, “Definitely not more than half a year.”
Phoenix tilted her head and thought for a moment, then extended her hand to her, “Pleasure to collaborate.”
“……”
Looking at her outstretched hand, Thelma was a bit confused. So, does this mean she agreed?
“What’s wrong? Unwilling?”
Thelma came back to her senses, suppressing her excitement, and quickly reached out to shake her hand.
“Then let’s leave it at that for now. Tomorrow, you can take me to see your studio.”
Thelma naturally agreed happily.
Thelma hadn’t expected the conversation with Phoenix to go so smoothly. Of course, all of this was thanks to Mr. Sam’s help. Thelma planned to buy him a gift as a token of gratitude. She went to the mall and picked out a tie for him. Seeing that the time was almost up, she decided to deliver the gift directly to his company, which would also allow her to pick him up after work.
Since she had been there once, she was familiar with the route, so Thelma didn’t call his assistant and went straight to the top floor. The secretary was not there, but the door to Sam Noah’s office was not closed. As Thelma approached the door, she heard a girl’s low sobbing from inside. She recognized the voice as Josie’s.
“I really didn’t expect Orion to be such a person. If I hadn’t accidentally looked at his phone, I would still be kept in the dark. Just thinking about him being all lovey-dovey with that woman when I’m not around makes me feel sick. All I want now is to divorce him! But I’m not young anymore; it’s hard for a divorced woman to find a good man again. Noah, what do you think I should do?” By the end, she was crying in grievance.
Then Sam Noah’s deep voice came, “It’s better to discuss this with my mother. She was the one who set you up with Orion. She knows you’ve been wronged and will definitely seek justice for you.”
“I know, but there are some things I can’t say to the lady. Noah, you probably don’t know how much of a jerk Orion is. I caught him cheating with that woman, and he even bit back at me, saying, ‘Noah, you bought me a house, opened a store for me, and outsiders say… they say I’m your kept woman. He said he’s a man, and even if he works in the Sam family, he still has his dignity. Being poked at like this is humiliating. Since I can find a man outside, he can find a woman outside too.'”
“He should know that I’m doing all this because of your brother.”
“He knows, but he says that even if it’s because of your brother, it shouldn’t be like this.”
Sam Noah let out a cold laugh, “Is he blaming me for meddling too much?”
Josie didn’t respond.
After a moment of silence, Sam Noah said, “I still have work to do; you should leave for now. I’ll talk to my mother about your situation with Orion. If you have any grievances, just tell her. I’ll be very busy during this time.”
“I’m sorry, Noah. You’re so busy, and I’m bothering you.” Although she said this, her voice carried a pitiful tone.
Sam Noah didn’t respond, and then Thelma heard a rustling sound. The door in front of her was pulled open, and she came face to face with Josie’s pitiful face.
It was clear that she was genuinely upset, her eyes swollen from crying.
Josie paused when she saw Thelma, then forced a smile on her face, “Thelma, are you here to find Noah?”
Thelma just nodded, using her expression to tell her that she didn’t want to talk much. Josie was perceptive and sniffled, leaving with a sob. Thelma entered the room and closed the door behind her.
Sam Noah was also surprised to see her, “You… why are you here?”
Thelma placed the beautifully wrapped box on the coffee table, “I had a smooth conversation with Phoenix. To thank you for your help, I bought you a gift. I thought your company wasn’t far, so I brought it directly. You can see if you like it.”
Sam Noah, who was sitting behind his desk, had intended to continue handling his work, but upon hearing this, he quickly put down what he was doing and walked over. He picked up the box, still unsure.
“You bought this for me?”
“Yes.”
Sam Noah opened it, and inside lay a tie. He took it out and tried it on. There was a mirror in the office, and he skillfully tied the tie in front of it.
Today, he was wearing a simple white shirt, which suited his clean and neat character very well. Thelma had specifically bought a black tie, which was versatile and matched perfectly with the white shirt.
