So she was the president of PrimeVest Group! Thelma immediately felt a sense of respect and greeted, “Hello, President Adaline.”
“Hello.”
President Adaline’s greeting was polite yet distant, lacking the approachability that Presley had. However, Thelma didn’t think much of it.
Presley and Adaline seemed to be old acquaintances, and as they chatted, Thelma, being perceptive, was just about to excuse herself and leave when she heard someone call out, “The lunch boxes have arrived; come over and eat.”
Presley asked her, “Would you like to join us for a bite?”
Thelma quickly replied, “No, thank you.”
Indeed, a few people in uniforms carrying takeout boxes entered the elevator, and Thelma immediately recognized one of them.
It was her sister, followed by several employees from the Peace Hotel.
Thelma hurried over, “Sister, what are you doing here?”
Samantha looked at her with a puzzled expression, “I’m here to deliver takeout. What about you?”
“I came here for some music manuscript matters.”
At this moment, Presley and Adaline also noticed Samantha Presley kindly asked, “Is this your sister?”
Thelma introduced, “This is my sister, and this is Presley, and this is President Adaline from PrimeVest Group.”
Samantha wasn’t a fan, so she didn’t react as excitedly as Thelma when she saw Presley. She simply greeted the two of them.
Adaline glanced at Samantha and said, “I recognize this Thelma.”
Presley was surprised to hear this, “Oh? It seems that the food from Thelma’s family is quite good, even attracting President Adaline.”
Adaline shook her head, “I’ve seen Thelma’s photo on my husband’s phone. Some time ago, my husband used a business trip as an excuse, but I discovered he often lingered outside a hotel. If I’m not mistaken, that hotel should be the one run by Thelma, right?”
As soon as Adaline finished speaking, everyone present was taken aback. Thelma glanced at Adaline, recalling that she had seen Davis outside the hotel before and had heard her sister mention that Davis was already married. Could it be that Adaline was Davis’s wife?
However, her words were quite suggestive, easily leading people to think of Samantha in an unfavorable light.
Presley immediately felt awkward and hurriedly tried to smooth things over, “There must be some misunderstanding here.”
Adaline said, “There shouldn’t be any misunderstanding regarding the fact that Thelma is my husband’s first love.”
“I haven’t been in contact with my first love since university; I don’t know if you’re referring to him.”
Samantha remained calm throughout, as she always was. Thelma felt that her sister’s personality was very similar to their mother’s—submissive, gentle, and virtuous. Such people were easy to get along with but also easily bullied.
Worried that her sister might be bullied, Thelma suddenly said, “President Adaline, you wouldn’t be talking about that person named Davis, would you? I’ve seen him loitering outside our hotel for no reason. Every time he comes, we try to chase him away, but no matter how we try, we can’t get rid of him. If he is your husband, President Adaline, could you please have a good talk with him and ask him not to come to our hotel? It really affects our business.”
Adaline lips twitched slightly, and her expression suddenly turned cold, her gaze sharp as it swept over Thelma’s face. Thelma showed no fear and faced her calmly.
“Ah, what is this? It’s all spoiled; how can anyone eat it?”
A sudden voice broke the somewhat tense atmosphere. Everyone turned to look at the source of the voice, only to see Ava frowning, disdainfully pushing the food aside. “Using spoiled food for takeout? You people in the catering business are too unkind, aren’t you?”
Samantha remained unruffled and calmly explained, “All the ingredients in our restaurant are freshly purchased; we wouldn’t use spoiled food for takeout. You can rest assured about that.”
Ava, however, was relentless, “I smell spoiled food, and we don’t want any of this. Let’s order something else; please refund my money.”
With so many staff members around, if her sister was forced to take back the food on a cold day, it would be quite a loss for her.
Thelma walked over, picked up Ava’s portion, and sniffed it. There was no spoiled smell as she claimed; she knew Ava was doing this on purpose.
