“I’m being presumptuous, but may I ask if you did something wrong to me in the past?” Otherwise, why would she dislike him so much?
He smiled, but she still asked cautiously.
After hearing this, his expression didn’t change much; he simply said, “If not wanting to divorce counts, then yes.”
He didn’t want to divorce, and that made her dislike him. And since she wanted a divorce so much, why didn’t he want to? She didn’t think such a strategic, well-off, successful, handsome, and wealthy man would be so infatuated.
“Why don’t you want to divorce?” she asked tentatively.
He was silent for a moment, “What about Tyler if we divorce?”
That’s true! She wasn’t being a good mom, but he had to be a responsible dad, right?
If she disliked him just because he didn’t want to divorce, then she had indeed been a bit excessive in the past. After all, they should consider the child, right? It wasn’t wrong for him to not want to divorce for the child’s sake.
Thelma felt that even if she and Sam Noah had no feelings for each other, he was still the child’s father, and she was the child’s mother. For the sake of the child, they could be considered a cooperative relationship. There was no need to dwell on the past; they could just get along well in the future.
So, she tried to put a smile on her face and sincerely said, “Thank you, the cake you bought is really delicious.”
However, Sam Noah seemed to freeze, his smile instantly solidifying.
He looked at her smile, somewhat dazed. Her eyes were bright, making her smile exude a crystalline beauty.
“Sam Noah, stay away from me!”
“Sam Noah, get lost!”
Disgusted, angry, indifferent—this had always been her attitude towards him.
But now, she was eating something he bought for her, and she was smiling at him.
It felt as if a soft paw was scratching at his heart.
He closed his eyes and took a deep breath; this feeling… was simply overwhelming…
Thelma felt that his gaze was a bit strange; he was staring at her so intently, as if he had encountered something unfathomable.
For a moment, Thelma didn’t know whether to continue smiling.
However, his oddness didn’t last long. He slightly lowered his head and cleared his throat. She saw him clench his hand tightly and then relax it, and then clench it again. But when he spoke again, his tone was natural and calm, “You’re welcome.”
“After we finish eating, I’ll take you to a place,” he added.
“Where to?”
“You’ll know when you get there.”
Sam Noah took her to the newly built district, which is the technology center of North City, where many companies are located.
The two entered an office building and went up to the fifth floor. As soon as they got off the elevator, Thelma saw the words “Thelma Studio” written on the door across from them.
While she was puzzled, Sam Noah instructed the property company staff following them to open the studio door. As soon as Thelma stepped inside, she was completely stunned.
This was a music studio, fully equipped with recording booths, performance rooms, mixing rooms, and everything else one could need.
“This is…” Thelma asked in astonishment.
Sam Noah replied, “It’s prepared for you.”
Thelma: “…”
She looked around the studio and found that all the equipment was very advanced and new, and had not been used before. She also noticed that a piece of glass in the recording booth was broken. Thelma wondered, “How did this glass break?”
Sam Noah stared at the broken glass without saying a word. He seemed to be lost in thought, his expression somewhat dim. Thelma tentatively asked, “Could it be that I broke it?”
He turned to glance at her, opened his mouth but said nothing.
Thelma: “…”
Could it really be her fault?
So this studio must have been prepared by him long ago, specifically for her, but she had broken it?
Why did she break it?
Thelma recalled what he had once told her: that she hated him.
She secretly glanced at him; he was staring at the glass, seemingly entranced, his expression shrouded in something, giving off an inscrutable vibe.
“I don’t want you to give up on music, even if you can’t sing anymore.”
He suddenly said, as if talking to himself.
Thelma was taken aback by this. She thought of what the little boy had said to her last night: he didn’t want her to be unhappy, and neither did his dad.
