Jones Calvin looked at Mira again, asking, “Are you really going to marry him? Have you forgotten how he abandoned you with a group of strangers? Have you forgotten how he spread rumors that he was dead to avoid you all these years? He’s so heartless, and you really want to marry him?”
“Jones Calvin!” Jones Papa scolded sharply.
However, Jones Calvin was unfazed, still staring at Mira, asking, “Tell me, even if he’s so heartless, do you still want to marry him?”
“Yes, no matter what he is like, I will marry him.” Mira answered almost without thinking.
“Is that so?” He retorted coldly, but there was a deep pain in his gaze.
Mira didn’t want to say much to him. She held Tony Brown’s hand and turned to leave, but Jones Calvin was unwilling to let go. He reached out to grab her, but before he could reach her, Tony Brown had already seized his wrist.
Tony Brown’s gaze was icy, with a palpable killing intent, “Jones Calvin, she is now my wife. You may not respect me, but I will not allow you to disrespect her. Also… you’re not young anymore; it’s time to grow up.”
After saying this, he suddenly shook off Jones Calvin’s hand and took Mira’s hand, leaving the Jones family.
Whether it was due to Tony Brown’s warning or not, this time Jones Calvin did not try to stop them.
Once in the car, Mira leaned against him and smiled, “You were so handsome just now.”
He gently stroked her hair, his expression soft, “Was that handsome? I have even more handsome moments.”
“What could be more handsome?”
“You’ll know in the future.”
Mira and Tony Brown’s wedding was held soon after, with only a few close friends and family invited. The Jones elders were among the guests, and Mira also sent an invitation to Jones Calvin, but he did not show up on the wedding day.
Three days after the wedding, Jones Calvin went to Tony Brown’s unit to find him. Tony Brown had declined the elder’s goodwill and applied to transfer to Brackenfield, taking on a desk job. However, despite it being a desk job, his high rank made him a significant leader in the unit.
It wasn’t easy for Jones Calvin to see him; he needed Tony Brown’s approval to enter.
After waiting outside for a long time, Jones Calvin finally received the news that Tony Brown would see him. He was brought to Tony Brown’s office, which was large but empty, with only him inside.
Jones Calvin took off his cap and sunglasses, smirking sarcastically, “You’ve got quite the attitude.”
Tony Brown stood up from behind his desk and gestured for him to sit. There were two leather sofas in his office.
Jones Calvin replied, “No need, I just want to say a few words and leave.”
“Go ahead.”
“Do you love Mira?”
“I do.”
His straightforward answer caught Jones Calvin off guard; he had thought that someone like him wouldn’t speak of love so openly.
“I really don’t understand why Mira chose you. Don’t you know you’re quite boring?”
Tony Brown wasn’t angry; he regarded Jones Calvin with a tolerant attitude, as one would with a child. He smiled and said, “Your parents probably never taught you this, so let me teach you here. The person you like is not someone to bully, ridicule, or mock; they are someone to cherish. Understand?”
Jones Calvin’s body stiffened slightly, and he fell silent for a long time.
After what felt like an eternity, he finally let out a bitter laugh, saying, “Now I understand. Can you give Mira back to me? I want to see if it’s still possible.”
Tony Brown’s expression suddenly darkened. He turned to look at him, his gaze icy. A man who had been on the battlefield, when his face turned cold, exuded a palpable killing intent.
“If you dare to have any thoughts about her, I swear I’ll chop you up, do you believe me?”
Jones Calvin instinctively shivered, chuckling lightly, “I was just joking. Why are you so worked up? I, Jones Calvin, would never covet another man’s wife.” He waved his hand, “Alright, I’m leaving.”
After saying this, he turned to walk towards the door, but after placing his hand on the doorknob, he paused and turned back, smiling at him, “Take good care of her, Uncle.”
Tony Brown: “…”
He opened the door and was about to leave when Tony Brown said, “I will take good care of her. Also, don’t call me Uncle in the future.”
