However, when Thelma arrived at the launch event with the security personnel, she was stunned by the crowd in front of her. She knew Jones Calvin had many brainless fans, but she hadn’t expected there to be so many. In such a short time, so many had gathered to protest against Mira. One could imagine how terrifying Jones Calvin’s fan club was.
Thelma thought there should be security personnel maintaining order at the event, so she only asked Noah for five strong, tall individuals. However, there were too many people, and they couldn’t even squeeze in.
As the launch event concluded, the doors opened from the inside, and the fans blocking the entrance surged forward. Even the security personnel, who were supposed to maintain order, were taken aback by the sudden influx of people. Fortunately, the security staff reacted quickly, forming a human chain to create a path through the crowd.
Mira reached the entrance and saw the dense crowd outside, feeling an immense pressure bearing down on her. Caro, beside her, urged, “Mira, should we use the back door?”
Mira scanned the area and said, “No need; the back door is probably just as bad. Let’s go.”
However, as soon as she finished speaking, an egg flew toward her head, accompanied by a vicious curse, “Mira, you shameless person, get out of the entertainment industry!”
Mira instinctively closed her eyes, but the egg didn’t hit her face. Suddenly, a figure appeared in front of her. She looked up and met Jones Calvin’s clean and handsome face.
Many people in the crowd were still throwing things, but they all hit Jones Calvin’s back. Then someone in the crowd shouted, “Are you blind? Can’t you see Jones Calvin is right there? Stop throwing!”
Mira looked at the person in front of her, confused, not understanding why he was helping her.
Not only that, but Jones Calvin also took off his knit top and put it directly over her head, wrapping his arm around her and whispering in her ear, “Let’s go!”
As a popular star, Jones Calvin naturally had bodyguards around him. However, with the event’s security and Jones Calvin’s bodyguards clearing a path, the two still found it difficult to move forward.
The surrounding shouts continued, some telling Mira to get out of the entertainment industry, others calling her shameless, and some even more viciously cursing her mother.
The crowd kept pushing, but Jones Calvin’s arm remained protectively around her.
The two struggled forward, finally reaching Jones Calvin’s van with the help of the bodyguards. Thelma and the others could only watch from the crowd, unable to squeeze through.
It must be said that Jones Calvin’s fans were truly insane.
Assistant Caro had long since been separated from Mira. After the crowd chased after Jones Calvin’s van, Caro finally spotted Thelma and hurried over, her face full of worry. “Sister Thelma, I’m so sorry! I didn’t protect Mira well.”
Thelma patted her shoulder, “It’s okay, don’t blame yourself. No one expected this situation; I was just as helpless.”
“What do we do now? Mira’s phone is still with me.”
“Mira will find a way to contact us later.”
After Jones Calvin and Mira got into the car, it also struggled to push through the crowd before finally driving away. Jones Calvin tossed the black knit shirt aside, which was covered in many yellow and black unknown substances.
“Are you okay?” Jones Calvin asked.
“I’m fine.” Mira glanced back at the crowd that had yet to disperse and said, “Your fans are really crazy.”
The assistant in the passenger seat handed Jones Calvin a T-shirt, and he put it on, shrugging. “I didn’t want it to be like this.” He leaned back in his seat, rubbing his forehead. “My biggest headache right now is being too popular.”
Mira couldn’t tell if he was genuinely distressed or just showing off.
“Where are we going now?”
“First to Urban Entertainment.”
“Can I borrow a phone?”
Jones Calvin let his assistant lend her a phone. After Mira took it, she called her assistant to inform her that she was going to Urban Entertainment. After the assistant hung up, Thelma took Caro to Urban Entertainment to pick up Mira.
Upon arriving at Jones Calvin’s lounge in Urban Entertainment, he handed Mira a bag and said, “Your clothes are dirty; go change. The restroom is over there.”
Although Jones Calvin had protected her the entire time, Mira still had some black, sticky substances on her from being hit, which felt uncomfortable.
Mira glanced at the bag, hesitated for a moment, and then took it. “Thanks.”
She went to the restroom to take a quick shower and pulled out the clothes Jones Calvin had prepared for her—a short-sleeved top and jeans. She liked wearing them because they were comfortable.
When she was fourteen, Tony Brown took her to meet a couple of his friends who planned to adopt her. It was her first time in that big, beautiful house, and she met Jones Calvin, who was also fourteen. He looked her up and down, rolled his eyes, and coldly said, “Where did this country bumpkin come from?”
