In the dark, Leon slowly opened his eyes. The city at night wasn’t so dark that nothing could be seen. He looked at the ceiling above him, and in the blanket, he found her hand and hurriedly grasped it.
When did he order it? He wouldn’t tell her that after he started earning money, the first sum he saved was used to order this ring, made entirely for her. At that time, he had long since given up on the idea of getting married, and ordering this ring was actually a way to tell himself that he would either marry her or not marry at all.
He had never thought that one day this ring would be on her finger.
But he didn’t say anything, pulling her hand to his chest and saying to her, “Let’s sleep.”
The next day, Samantha and Leon went to his house. Leon’s father was a retired engineer, and his mother developed eye-care products. While not exactly from a wealthy family, they were much better off than the average household. Leon was an only child, and his parents were too busy to look after him when he was young. Lacking discipline and with a comfortable upbringing, he developed a rebellious personality. However, as he matured, he had improved significantly.
Leon’s mother was overjoyed to learn that the two had obtained their marriage certificate. For Samantha’s first visit, Leon’s mother gave her an incredibly large red envelope.
After leaving Leon’s house, Leon accompanied Samantha to the Hotel. To their surprise, they found Davis waiting at the entrance.
Davis saw Samantha first and quickly approached her. Only then did he notice Leon beside her. Davis’s brow furrowed unconsciously.
Upon seeing him, Samantha’s face immediately turned cold. Even without Leon, she didn’t want to see Davis again. Now that she was Leon’s wife, his presence only filled her with annoyance.
“Why are you here? Didn’t I tell you not to look for me again?”
Davis withdrew his gaze from Leon and smiled at Samantha, “I want to talk to you alone.”
His meaning was clear: he hoped the irrelevant Leon would discreetly leave.
However, Leon didn’t move. Instead, he stepped forward, put his arm around Samantha’s waist, and said to her, “Go inside, I’ll handle this.”
Samantha didn’t want to talk to Davis either. She didn’t want Leon to misunderstand anything, so leaving it to him was best.
After Samantha left, Davis, with an ambiguous smile, said to Leon, “It seems that all these years, your habit of harassing Samantha hasn’t changed.”
Leon’s expression remained unchanged. However, he usually had a cold demeanor, rarely showing any emotion on his face.
“The one harassing her is you.” It was a simple statement.
Davis’s face turned cold. “What’s between Samantha and me is none of your business.”
Leon’s gaze darkened, sweeping coldly across Davis’s face. “She’s my wife. Do you think it’s none of my business?”
“Wife?” Davis sneered. “Who are you kidding?”
Leon didn’t reply. He pulled out his wallet, took out their marriage certificate, and shoved it in Davis’s face. Davis took a step back, frowning unhappily, his gaze finally falling on the marriage certificate.
It was Leon and Samantha’s marriage certificate, stamped with the official seal of the Civil Affairs Bureau.
Davis was struck dumb, his gaze shifting between Leon and the certificate.
“Impossible, impossible. How could Samantha…”
Leon put away the marriage certificate. He grabbed Davis by the collar, pulling him closer. His strength, honed from years of training, was considerable. His cold gaze fixed on Davis, he said word by word, “If you ever dare to harass my wife again, I have a thousand ways to make you die a horrible death.”
The man’s fierce gaze was icy and terrifying. Davis remembered the legendary student from their school days—fierce, arrogant, and untouchable.
Davis involuntarily shivered.
Leon released him forcefully, spitting out a single word, “Scram!”
Whether it was the shock of seeing Samantha and Leon’s marriage certificate or Leon’s intimidation, Davis looked distraught, shuffling away.
When Leon entered the hotel, Samantha was instructing the staff to clean.
“He won’t come looking for you again.”
Samantha nodded, asking no further questions. Everything concerning Davis was long behind her.
Things went smoothly on Leon’s side. Next was Samantha’s family. Samantha was awarded to her mother’s custody and had little contact with Chris. Her mother was deceased, leaving only her younger sister. So, when Leon visited her family, Samantha invited her sister and her family.
Thelma took a day off and arrived early to help her sister prepare. Her sister was very capable, so Thelma couldn’t help much, only assisting in the kitchen.
After work, Noah picked up Tyler and came over. Thelma was stir-frying a dish; there were over ten dishes on the table, and this was the only one she cooked herself.
Noah stood at the doorway and asked, “Do you need any help?”
Thelma glanced at him, “What can you help with?”
Noah: “…”
Mr.Sam felt neglected.
