The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 181

Detestable

Thelma’s heart was solely focused on the child. Seeing the person holding the baby walk away, she didn’t have time to care about Ruth anymore. She lifted her foot to chase after them, but the two behind her reacted quickly and rushed to hold her back.

Ruth, now free, straightened her disheveled hair and rubbed her sore neck. After coughing a few times, she said to Thelma, “How dare a junior treat an elder so rudely!”

Thelma sneered, “You, as an elder, aren’t any better.”

Ruth was furious. She stepped forward and slapped Thelma, and after that, she slapped her again.

“Look at you now. What makes you think you deserve Noah? A year ago, with Noah’s help, you escaped a disaster. I couldn’t be bothered to send you to prison again, but a person like you will never be allowed to stay by Noah’s side. You better know your place.”

After saying this, she turned to leave. Thelma was restrained by two people and couldn’t move. Her face burned with pain, and combined with the anguish of losing her child, she completely lost her rationality. She shouted at Ruth’s back, “You old hag, give me back my child! If you don’t, I will make you pay for it! I will make you pay! You old hag! Remember this well!”

Ruth had already walked far away, and the two holding her finally released her. Thelma felt as if all her strength had been drained away. She collapsed to the ground, and the maid, Aunt Hope, hurried in to help her up, whispering something in her ear, but she couldn’t hear anything.

Ruth’s words echoed in her mind.

“Look at yourself; what makes you think you deserve Noah?”

“I will never allow a child to be raised by someone like you.”

Although her words were harsh, they brought her back to reality. She suddenly realized how ridiculous her previous desire to maintain her marriage with him had been.

Yes, someone like her, with nothing to her name, having achieved nothing, a bad person with nothing at all, what right does she have to possess a man like Sam Noah, and what right does she have to have his child?

It’s better to be a bad person, to be a little cruel, to have no attachments, so that one won’t suffer.

Sam Noah returned the next day. When he came back, Thelma was lying in bed, but she wasn’t asleep. She heard footsteps and the sound of a baby squirming.

Thelma lay with her back to the door. He placed the child beside her and said, “I brought the baby back. I’m sorry, it’s my fault for not protecting you both.”

Thelma slowly sat up. Without even looking at the child, she coldly said, “Take him away.”

“What’s wrong?”

“He’s not my child. Take him away.”

“Take a good look; he’s Tyler.”

“Take him away.”

“……”

Sam Noah fell silent for a moment before calling the nanny to take the child away.

“Don’t be angry. I’ll have my mother come and apologize to you.”

“Let’s get a divorce, Sam Noah.”

Sam Noah frowned tightly. “Why?”

“Did you forget we signed an agreement before we got married? Now that the child is born, isn’t it time to get a divorce?”

Sam Noah lowered his head, seemingly lost in thought. He noticed the muscles at his temples twitch before he finally said, “It’s not the right time for a divorce. The child is still in the nursing period. Let’s talk about it when he’s a bit older.”

Thelma shook her head. “I want to leave now.”

“Impossible.” He said it almost without thinking, decisively.

Thelma understood; this man didn’t want a divorce at all.

“Mr. Sam, don’t forget, we signed an agreement.”

“What exactly have I done wrong? Why do you insist on divorcing me? If it’s because my mother tried to take the child, there’s been a misunderstanding. I’ll make her apologize to you, and I promise she won’t try to take Tyler again.” Sam Noah’s voice softened.

Thelma said, “Do you remember what I told you? Just thinking about our past makes me feel sick. I don’t like you, being with you makes me suffer. Now that the child is born, I don’t want to have any entanglements with you.”

She spoke directly, piercing his heart. How could Sam Noah, the president of Sam Group, be so humiliated?! What kind of woman could he not have? Why should he keep such an ungrateful and detestable woman by his side?

So Sam Noah, just agree already.
