Thelma wiped the sweat from his forehead and gently said, “Drink slowly.”
Since it was a natural birth, Thelma was discharged from the hospital the next day. Although Noah never mentioned the agreement they signed before marriage, Thelma’s worries grew day by day.
Before their marriage, she had strongly insisted on signing an agreement to divorce after giving birth.
At first, she was just afraid of complications arising later, but now she realized that the complications were coming from her.
She couldn’t bear to give the child to Noah. If she wanted to take the child away, Noah would definitely not agree.
Not knowing what to do, she expressed her concerns when her sister came to visit her.
“You mean you don’t want to leave the child?”
Thelma was feeding the baby, who had a good appetite and wanted to drink milk whenever he was awake. He was also very well-behaved, only crying when he was hungry or needed a diaper change. Most of the time, he would sleep soundly, even at night, making him incredibly easy to care for.
Noah said the child had inherited his traits. Although she didn’t respond, she silently acknowledged it because she had heard that she was difficult to handle as a child, so the baby definitely wouldn’t inherit her traits.
“What will I do if I leave him?” She looked at the little pink bundle, and the thought of leaving him made her heart ache.
“Does Noah know? Have you told him?”
Thelma shook her head.
“Why don’t you discuss it with him and say you don’t want a divorce and want to live well with him?”
Live well with Noah?
Although she didn’t want to admit it, Noah was indeed a man of few words. At first, she felt a bit repulsed by him because of that night, but she couldn’t ignore the things he had done for her during her pregnancy. He was considerate and took care of her, truly attentive in every way. He probably also knew she was repulsed by him, so he would buy her things but didn’t dare to give them to her directly, instead passing them through her sister.
In fact, by the time she was about six months pregnant, she was no longer as repulsed by him. She just didn’t know how to tell him. After treating him so poorly at first, if she suddenly said, “Noah, I don’t dislike you anymore. You don’t have to be so cautious; you can come closer to me,” she felt embarrassed to say it.
Now that she had given birth, she couldn’t bear to part with the child, and her resistance to their marriage had lessened. Sometimes, she thought that continuing like this wouldn’t be so bad, especially since she would eventually marry someone else.
“I feel embarrassed to say it. You know I haven’t treated him well. I don’t know if he’ll blame me.”
Samantha said, “Since you feel you’ve treated him poorly, just make it up to him in the future. If you’re too embarrassed to speak up, I can help you.”
“Don’t! I’ll say it myself.”
Samantha held her hand and patted it, speaking earnestly, “Noah is truly a rare good man. We all see how he treats you. Plus, there have been many disturbances at my restaurant and several times he helped handle them. So when I heard you say you wanted to continue with him, I was genuinely happy for you.”
Thelma nodded, “I understand.”
When Noah returned, Thelma was playing with the baby in the living room. Her baby had started to smile. After finishing his milk, Thelma would hold him and walk around, teasing him. He had grown a little, and his eyes didn’t look as swollen anymore. He stared at her, occasionally smiling back at him.
The child already had a name, which Noah had chosen long ago: Tyler.
“Little baby, little baby, baby Tyler.” She loved to call him this over and over.
The more Thelma looked at him, the cuter she found him. She simply couldn’t put him down and wanted to hold him forever.
“You’ll get tired holding him like that.”
Thelma turned her head at the sound and saw Noah standing at the door. She didn’t know when it had started, but her gaze towards him was no longer as cold as it had been at first.
“You’re back?” she greeted.
Noah walked over and reached out, “Let me hold him.”
Thelma handed the baby to him. He sat down on the sofa, and as a big man, his posture for holding the baby was even more standard than hers. He looked down at the baby with a fatherly smile.
