“Mr. Sam, why don’t you head back first? I’ll discuss it with Thelma.”
Sam Noah wasn’t in a hurry; he nodded and said, “Alright.” Then he pointed to the several boxes of gifts on the table and added, “These are my humble offerings. I hope you both will accept them.”
Samantha awkwardly smiled and said, “You’re too polite.”
Sam Noah then took out a business card from his bag and handed it to her, “This is my business card. If you decide, you can contact me anytime.”
After saying this, she walked towards the door, but Thelma, who had been silent, suddenly said, “No need to think it over. I will marry you.”
Samantha: “…”
Samantha quietly pinched her, and Sam Noah paused at the door, seemingly taken aback by her straightforward agreement. His body stiffened for several seconds before he turned to look back, yet the smile on his face remained calm, “Alright, I will bring my family over tomorrow to discuss the marriage.”
With that, he left.
Although Samantha was somewhat satisfied with this man, marriage was a significant matter that should be discussed thoroughly. As soon as Sam Noah left, Samantha hurriedly said, “What are you doing? Why did you agree so quickly?”
Thelma shrugged, “I think his conditions are pretty good. Anyway, after having the baby, we can get a divorce. There’s nothing to worry about.”
“Even if it’s good, you should think it over carefully.” Samantha was exasperated with her, but considering she was pregnant, she couldn’t say much.
Thelma didn’t respond. She inadvertently glanced at the business card and saw it read, “Sam Noah, President of Sam Group.” After returning to her room, she searched for this Sam Group and was shocked to discover that its predecessor was Maplewick Liquor Industry. They had a well-known liquor that could rival national brands.
Thelma had suspected that this man might have a significant background, but she didn’t expect it to be this impressive. She instinctively touched her belly, thinking this guy was indeed something else. No wonder the contraceptive pills didn’t work; it turned out he had such a powerful identity.
The next day, Sam Noah indeed came with his family. Thelma also met his mother and his step-siblings. They were all relatively polite, but Thelma could tell that Sam Noah’s family wasn’t very satisfied with her. She didn’t mind; after all, she would leave once the baby was born.
Everything went smoothly. A month later, she and Sam Noah went to get their marriage certificate and then held a wedding abroad. Since Thelma was marrying solely for the sake of the child in her womb, she didn’t inform her friends, nor did she tell Chris and others in Mapleton City. The only person who accompanied her to the wedding was her sister.
From then on, she had another identity: Mrs. Sam.
Noah bought the wedding house near his sister’s home, making it convenient for the two sisters to visit each other. He purchased a spacious duplex apartment and even hired two maids to take care of her.
After Thelma moved into the wedding house, her freedom of movement was somewhat restricted, as she was always followed by two bodyguards whenever she stepped outside. However, Thelma didn’t oppose this too much; after all, Noah’s child was worth billions, so it was understandable that he wanted to protect her.
The days of pregnancy were a bit dull, but fortunately, her sister would come to keep her company from time to time. Noah was usually busy with work and was rarely home, but whenever he returned, he would always check on her first.
However, Thelma didn’t want to get too close to him. On the day she moved into his wedding house when he first came to her room to see her, she bluntly told him, “You don’t need to keep asking me if I’m comfortable or if I need anything. I’m fine, and if I need something, I’ll tell the maids. You can just do your own thing and don’t worry about me.”
At that time, she was leaning against the bed, flipping through a magazine, not even glancing at him. He stood by the bed with his hands in his pockets and asked her, “Why can’t I ask? You’re my wife now; it’s only natural for me to care about you.”
Thelma tossed the magazine aside and looked at him. Unfortunately, his strong aura made her hesitate to meet his gaze, so she slightly averted her eyes and said, “I remember telling you that thinking about everything that happened between us makes me feel sick. So, it’s best if you keep your distance. Our marriage is only for the sake of this child; nothing else.”
Her words didn’t anger him, but his expression clearly darkened. He smiled self-deprecatingly and said, “I’m truly sorry for that.
