“What business? Of course, it’s about you sleeping with an old man.”
Old man? Ava probably still didn’t know that her online friend Silentstorm was not an old man. But that was her misunderstanding; she thought Silentstorm was just a lonely old man. As Ava was her good friend, she naturally knew that she had chatted with an online friend named Silentstorm and even knew that she had gone to find Silentstorm. She had never met Silentstorm, so she assumed he was just an old man.
Thelma had no intention of telling her that the person she slept with was not an old man because, to Thelma, it didn’t matter whether he was an old man or not.
“I saw that old man enter your room with my own eyes, and I even recorded a video.”
Thelma remembered that the first time someone knocked on her door, it was indeed an old man.
Thelma blew away the nail dust she had gathered and said slowly, “So what? Sleeping with an old man is at most a moral issue, but you organizing cheating and bribing a teacher is not just a moral issue; it could very well be a legal issue. The worst consequence for you is being expelled from school, and if it gets serious, you might even go to jail. Just a moment ago, you were an outstanding student giving a speech on stage, and in the blink of an eye, you could be expelled from school. Just think about how unfortunate that would be.”
She shook her head regretfully after finishing.
“What a pity that the recommendation spot you worked so hard to get is going to go down the drain. Studying abroad for graduate school, for someone like you who doesn’t have much musical talent, studying abroad is like being gilded. But now, don’t even think about studying abroad; you won’t even be able to get your university degree.”
Thelma winked at her, “Don’t you think that’s a pity?”
Her nonchalant demeanor was incredibly irritating, especially since Ava was currently in a fit of rage, thinking about the humiliation she had suffered today and how all her hard work might not even allow her to graduate from university. Ava felt like the anger was going to burn her liver.
The more she looked at Thelma, the more glaring she felt, especially since she was sitting there casually, doing her nails!
At that moment, the string of reason snapped, and Ava’s face became increasingly ferocious, “I’ll kill you!”
Thelma knew she would definitely explode, and she understood her too well. She knew exactly how to provoke her, but she didn’t expect that this usually gentle and weak step-sister would look so terrifying when enraged.
The cup of banana milk was placed beside the chair, prepared by her early in the morning. When she saw Ava rushing over in anger, she gently kicked the milk, spilling it onto the floor. Ava didn’t notice her small action; at that moment, all she wanted was to grab her by the neck, wishing for them to perish together.
In her haste, she stepped on the banana milk and slipped, falling forward. Ahead of her lay several broken beer bottles, remnants of her previous drinking session that she had “accidentally” shattered and hadn’t yet cleaned up.
Ava didn’t have time to react. Instinctively, she raised her hands to shield her face, but the beer bottle instantly sliced through the skin of her palm. However, it didn’t completely protect her; a shard embedded itself deep in her forehead, causing blood to gush down her face.
“Ah ah ah ah ah!!!!!!!!!!”
Ava screamed, not only from the pain but also because she realized she had marred her appearance. For a student in the arts, especially one related to performance, a disfigured face was a grave taboo; it could very well ruin her future.
“My face! My face!!!!!!”
Thelma walked over leisurely and squatted beside her. Looking at her bloodied face, she sighed, “Such a full forehead, and now it has such a big gash. You probably won’t be able to show it anymore.”
Ava had a beautiful forehead, full and round, with a unique hairline curve. Many girls kept bangs because their foreheads weren’t attractive enough, but Ava had no such fears; her forehead was a highlight of her face.
Ava glared at the person in front of her who was mocking her nonchalantly. Her palm and forehead throbbed with pain, and the fire of anger still burned fiercely in her heart. She suddenly jumped up, wanting to tackle her to the ground. However, Thelma reacted quickly, kicking her squarely in the chest before she could reach her.
Ava gasped in pain and fell to the ground, but she was still unwilling to back down, shouting, “You did this on purpose! I’m going to call the police!”
Thelma, however, remained calm and pointed to her computer’s camera, smiling, “I’ve been recording since you walked in. Just now, you rushed over to hit me and accidentally fell, injuring your face. I didn’t even need to defend myself; how can you accuse me of hurting you?”
“……”
“If I were you, I’d hurry and take a cab to the hospital. If you wait too long, that wound might not heal properly.”
Perhaps Ava found her reasoning sound; she hurriedly got up from the ground and rushed toward the door. As she reached the entrance, she turned back, her bloodied face looking terrifying. Her eyes were filled with rage as she gritted her teeth and said, “I didn’t expect you to be so malicious; I underestimated you.”
“It’s not too late to see clearly now.”
Ava didn’t respond, hastily pushing the door open and leaving.
The next day, Thelma saw the notice on the university forum about Ava being advised to withdraw. That afternoon, she received a text from the school, instructing her to attend classes next week.
Thelma was very satisfied with this outcome.
