The Love She Never Saw Coming – Chapter 153

Affiliated Hospital

“Nova Affiliated Hospital.”

Upon hearing this, Sam Noah instinctively frowned. Wasn’t Eric at that hospital?

After a moment of silence, Sam Noah said, “Wait for me. I’ll come pick you up and go with you.”

Thelma felt puzzled. She was going to the hospital to visit Sharon on behalf of Connor. What did Sam Noah, such a busy boss, want to do there?

Sam Noah arrived shortly after and then they went to Nova Affiliated Hospital together. When they reached the ward, only Presley was there to keep watch, as Sharon had been assigned a private room due to Eric’s influence.

Sharon lay on the hospital bed, staring blankly out the window, while Presley sat beside her, peeling fruit.

When Presley saw the two enter, she quickly stood up to greet them. She was momentarily stunned to see Sam Noah, probably surprised that such a big boss had come, but she didn’t ask further.

“How is she?” Thelma asked.

“Not good. One rib is broken, two fingers are broken, several teeth have been knocked out, and she has multiple gynecological issues.”

Thelma felt increasingly heavy-hearted as she listened. “What do we do next? Are we still sending her back?”

Presley said, “There’s no choice. After all, she is that family’s daughter-in-law. Her parents won’t even come to recognize her, let alone take care of her. Although Connor was with her, they weren’t married, so he has no responsibility towards her. He can’t take care of her. Moreover, these injuries are all old wounds, and there is no direct evidence to prove they were inflicted by them.”

Thelma looked at the girl sitting on the bed. Her complexion was waxy, and although her hair had been tidied, it still looked like dry grass. Such a beautiful girl had been tortured to this extent, and Thelma felt both angry and sorrowful.

A nurse came in to collect the next treatment fee. Thelma didn’t want Presley to spend more money, as she was Connor’s boss, so she followed the nurse to pay.

Sam Noah stayed behind in the ward and asked, “Has the doctor assessed her mental state?”

Presley replied, “Yes, she has been diagnosed with schizophrenia.”

“In that case, we can get her a mental illness certificate.”

Presley said, “If we do that, if she ever decides to talk about her experiences, her words will hold even less weight legally, as no one is willing to believe a mad person’s words.”

Sam Noah raised his hand to check the time, his thumb leisurely sliding over his watch. “Even so, a mental illness certificate can serve as a form of protection for her. For instance, even if she were to kill someone, she wouldn’t face legal consequences.”

Presley was taken aback and looked at him sharply. Sam Noah, however, seemed to say it casually, smiling, “I still need to find an old friend. When Thelma arrives, please let her know.”

After he finished speaking, he left, leaving Presley in a daze for a long time.

She looked down at the girl on the bed, who had stopped looking out the window and was now staring down, lost in thought. Presley sat beside her, took her hand gently, as if soothing a child, and said, “I’ll go get you a mental illness certificate soon.” She stroked her head, “Connor has always been waiting for you.”

The girl with her head down seemed to stiffen for a moment, then slowly, slowly turned her head to look at her…

After Thelma finished paying, she stayed by Sharon’s bedside for a while before leaving with Sam Noah.

In the afternoon, Ava arrived at Sam Group on time to sign the contract. The person responsible for signing with her was the business department manager. The manager was surprised to see her come alone. “Miss Ava, are you here to sign on your own? Doesn’t your agency know?”

Ava replied, “This is my personal contract, and I didn’t go through my agency.”

The business manager reminded her, “If there are any contract disputes later, Miss Ava will be responsible for it herself.”

Ava said, “That’s fine. You can rest assured.”

Her new agency was a small one, and they usually turned a blind eye to artists taking on private jobs. Many people quietly accepted private contracts, and she was not the only one doing this. Moreover, this was the result of her own hard work; why should she share a portion of the commission with the agency?

The business manager handed the contract to Ava. When she saw the endorsement fee, she was shocked—fifty million!!! This was the endorsement fee for a top-tier female star!

It was easy to imagine how excited Ava was.

However, she was also an experienced artist and knew that Sam Group would impose restrictions on such a large sum of money for a spokesperson.
