Thelma: “……”
Eric boarded the bus and first greeted the person responsible for connecting them. That person was the affairs consultant for the public welfare company. After a brief introduction, he brought Eric over to meet Presley and Thelma.
“Hello, Miss Presley.”
Eric shook hands with Presley, then extended his hand to Thelma, politely greeting, “Hello, Miss Thelma.”
His attitude was nothing unusual, just a normal greeting. Thelma also shook his hand as if they were meeting for the first time. “Hello, Doctor Eric.”
After the introductions, the consultant arranged a seat for him, fortunately placing him a bit far from Thelma.
Thelma felt that the world was truly wonderful. It was rare to accompany an artist for an outdoor shoot and unexpectedly run into Ava and Eric. She felt a pair of eyes staring at her, and when she turned to look, she saw Ava sitting diagonally in front of her, staring at her with a serious expression. When their eyes met, she immediately flashed a smile.
Thelma scoffed and turned her head away.
After thinking it over, Thelma felt that she should tell Mr. Sam about encountering Eric, as the shoot might last for several days. However, it wasn’t convenient to call on the bus, so she sent a text message instead.
Sam Noah was having a video call with a partner overseas. Hearing his phone ring, he casually glanced at it and saw “Thelma” on the screen.
Sam Noah picked up his phone and opened the message.
Thelma: “I ran into Eric. He is part of the medical team accompanying us.”
Upon reading this message, Sam Noah instinctively furrowed his brows. The bearded man on the other end of the video call reminded him?”
Sam Noah came back to his senses and said a quick apology in french. The bearded man continued, but Sam Noah quickly typed a few words on his phone.
Thelma soon received his reply: Noah: “I know.”
He didn’t seem to mind much.
“Are you good friends with Phoenix?”
Presley’s question pulled Thelma back to reality, and she didn’t know why she suddenly asked that.
“Mm, Phoenix and I are friends.”
“I see…” She fell silent for a moment, seeming a bit self-deprecating. “Then I suppose you blame me like she does?”
Thelma guessed that she was referring to her relationship with Jonathan Foxcroft. She replied, “You’re mistaken. Phoenix is a very carefree person; she wouldn’t blame you. As for me, I’m just someone who has no connection to you, so I wouldn’t blame you either.”
Presley was silent for a moment, then suddenly let out a bitter laugh. “Speaking of which, I also feel quite sorry for Phoenix.”
Thelma: “……”
Thelma did not expect Presley to suddenly bring up the complicated relationship between her, Phoenix, and Jonathan Foxcroft. However, upon hearing her words, Thelma’s heart couldn’t help but race. Could it be that Presley really had interfered in Jonathan Foxcroft and Phoenix’s marriage back then?
Presley continued, “But don’t misunderstand, I’m not a third party; I should say I’m not a true third party in the conventional sense.”
Thelma was even more puzzled. What did that mean?
“Back then, I was just a newcomer in the entertainment industry, and my big boss Jonathan Foxcroft expressed his affection for me. At that time, he was already married to Phoenix. I told him I didn’t want to be a third party; if he truly loved me, he should get a divorce and then pursue me. I didn’t expect that a few months later, he really did get divorced and appeared in front of me. Not long after, I accepted his kindness and got together with him.”
So it was like this? Jonathan Foxcroft’s actions were really too scummy; he was married to Phoenix yet still thought about other women.
“If that’s the case, you have nothing to feel guilty about towards Phoenix. The one who should feel guilty is Jonathan Foxcroft.”
But Presley shook her head and said, “If I truly liked Jonathan Foxcroft, perhaps you would applaud me for having principles, but I don’t like him. Yet, I still said those things to give him hope and ended up with him.”
Thelma: “???”
This plot twist was unexpected.
“I wanted fame, I wanted to be well-known, I wanted more influence, but it was hard to achieve that on my own. I needed Jonathan Foxcroft’s resources, I needed his help.” She changed her tone and quietly asked, “You are my fan, so you should know about my family situation, right?”
Thelma certainly knew. Back then, she was a die-hard fan of Presley and was more interested in her gossip than anyone else. Presley was born into a family that favored boys over girls. After Presley became famous, her parents even sued her, claiming she had abandoned them.
