Thelma recognized that watch; it was a gift from her sister to Davis. That year, Davis had led the campus football team to victory, and her sister had specially bought him a watch to congratulate him.
When Davis saw the watch in Adaline’s hand, he looked as if he had been struck by lightning, angrily shouting, “What are you trying to do? Don’t mess around!”
However, Adaline coldly laughed and directly threw the watch into the flames. The fire in the iron barrel blazed fiercely, but Davis instinctively lunged forward, snatching the watch from the fire.
Adaline hadn’t expected him to react this way. She hurried over, grabbing his burned hand and angrily said, “Are you crazy?”
Davis pushed her away, anxiously stroking the watch. Only when he saw it was unharmed did he let out a sigh of relief.
Adaline, wearing high heels, nearly stumbled when pushed by Davis. But how could he care so much about a broken watch? He didn’t even mind getting burned as he lunged into the fire to retrieve it.
Of course, she knew who had given him that watch. Seeing him treasure it so much made her furious, and thinking of the person who gave it to him only fueled her anger.
Her teeth clenched, she glanced at Samantha, only to see her standing there calmly, as if everything happening before her was none of her business.
Why could she stand there as if nothing was happening while she and Davis were making a scene?
The more Adaline thought about it, the angrier she became. The letters in the barrel were nearly burned up, and she kicked the barrel with all her might, not knowing where she got the strength to send it flying directly toward Samantha
The burning letters scattered from the barrel, and the people around hurriedly dodged. This sudden turn of events completely caught the sisters off guard. Thelma looked at her sister with worry, while Samantha had no time to evade and could only instinctively raise her hand to block.
With a loud “bang,” the iron barrel hit flesh, but Samantha didn’t feel any pain. She looked up to see a figure standing in front of her, tall enough to block out almost all the sunlight.
Thelma was so focused on worrying about her sister that she didn’t notice when this person had rushed out. However, seeing her sister unharmed, she instinctively let out a sigh of relief.
The person was wearing a black jacket over a black t-shirt, with camouflage pants and leather boots. In this weather, one wondered if he felt cold dressed like that.
He was very handsome, but he exuded a cold aura, with sharp lines and icy eyes, plus a fierce scar on his face, giving off a dangerous vibe that made people feel unwelcome.
Thelma had seen him before; during the incident when Alan and his gang caused trouble in the store, she and her sister had gone to the hospital to apologize to them, and they had just happened to encounter a few special police officers capturing Alan and his accomplices, and this man had been one of the officers, seemingly their leader.
At that time, Thelma had thought he looked familiar, as if she had seen him somewhere.
While she was observing this man, she heard her sister uncertainly call out, “Leon?”
Leon? So her sister knew him?
Davis was also stunned; he had intended to rush over to help her, but someone had beaten him to it.
Sam Noah was equally startled. Thelma was standing right next to Samantha, and the iron barrel flying over could have injured her.
When Sam Noah came back to his senses, he realized he had unknowingly opened the car door and gotten out. He couldn’t just stand by anymore; he wouldn’t forgive anyone who tried to harm Thelma.
Sam Noah stepped forward and grabbed Thelma’s hand. When Thelma turned to look, she saw Mr. Sam standing beside her, though she didn’t know when he had arrived.
With someone like Sam Noah appearing, it was hard not to notice him. Adaline came back to her senses and politely greeted him, “Mr. Sam, we’re handling private matters here; I hope I didn’t make you laugh.”
Sam Noah smiled, “I heard Adaline wants to buy this place, but it seems a bit excessive to bring people here to cause trouble before the deal is finalized, don’t you think?”
Adaline replied, “Mr. Sam, you’ve misunderstood. I’m not here to cause trouble; moreover, I’m not trying to buy this place; I’ve already bought it.”
“Is that so?” Sam Noah said slowly, his gaze fixed on her, “As long as I’m here, Adaline, you won’t be able to buy it.”
Adaline: “…”
