I am uncertain of the duration of my imprisonment; it seemed as though days, perhaps weeks, had elapsed. My extreme sleep deprivation caused me to perceive double, leading me to briefly suspect I was hallucinating when Prince Jack materialised in my cell.
Sleeping in a concrete cell was challenging, particularly given the prevailing circumstances.
Jack stood before me while I sat on the ground; I gazed up at him vacantly, attempting to comprehend his identity and presence. His figure appeared distorted, and he was articulating something that I could not fully grasp.
Subsequently, I observed a guard materialise behind him; he gestured towards the chains affixed to the wall. My entire body tensed as the guard effortlessly lifted me off the ground. My breathing became unsteady, and Jack regarded me with an expression devoid of emotion.
What was he planning to do to me?
“Please…” I implored; however, I am uncertain whether my words truly escaped my lips.
I inhaled sharply as I was thrust against the wall; the guard secured my arms and legs with chains, constricting them to prevent any movement.
Tears streamed down my face as the guard stepped back to position himself against the far wall of the cell, observing Jack’s actions towards me.
“You are fully aware of my purpose,” Jack hissed, his breath warm against my face, nearly causing me to retch from the odour. “I will extract answers from you, by any means necessary.”
I was uncertain about the type of responses he sought. I acted with the intention of safeguarding Luna Queen Kamila and was unaware that the soup was tainted. Nevertheless, I realised that any attempt to justify my actions would be futile.
He formed his opinion about me long ago.
“I did nothing…” I murmured to him, my voice raspy due to my parched throat. Speaking caused me discomfort.
“We shall ascertain that,” he snarled. “Did you administer poison to your lady?”Jack enquired, gazing at me with considerable intensity.
“Negative!”I stated, attempting to project my voice with composure.
Before I could speak further, I experienced the abrupt impact of his hand striking my face. The pain was enduring. My body quaked as he posed the identical question once more, to which I responded with the same answer. He struck me again with greater force, and I sensed my cheek flushing beneath his touch.
“Do not deceive me,” he hissed, his teeth elongating as his inner wolf began to emerge.
His fury evoked memories of when Vera nearly took my life; she struggled to suppress her wolf, which almost emerged. Jack’s wolf exhibited similar traits; dark grey fur was surfacing beneath his skin, and the golden eyes of his wolf flickered through his dark blue gaze.
I am not being deceitful!”I wept.”
He clenched his fist and struck at me; the claws of his wolf becoming apparent as it approached my face once more. The claw of his wolf cut through the same area that Vera had previously wounded, exacerbating the injury.
I screamed in agony as blood streamed from my face and stained my clothing.
Please!”I implored him, pleading for his mercy.”
Who instigated you to do it?He enquired while seizing a wooden plank that was propped against the wall behind him.
“I did not administer poison to her,” I exclaimed, struggling to catch my breath.
“Incorrect response,” he spat as he swung the plank like a bat, striking the centre of my abdomen.
All air evacuated my lungs, and I gasped for breath; for an instant, the pain was imperceptible due to its numbing intensity. However, once he removed the plank, I felt the pain surging through my body, nearly incapacitating me.
“Halt!””I implored him; this elicited laughter from him, and he struck me in the same location once more with the plank.”
My screams reverberated through the prison walls, penetrating the cell.
“Did Jayce instigate your actions?”He enquired.
“Certainly not!””I wept, attempting to regain my breath.”
I experienced a piercing pain in my shin as he thrust the wooden plank into me. I heard the fracture of my leg bones and cried out in torment. My hands trembled against the cold concrete walls, immobilised by the chains that restrained them.
“You must trust me,” I implored, almost overwhelmed by my tears.
“I am not obligated to do anything,” Jack nearly chuckled.
He approached me, his breath brushing against my face.
Did Jayce desire you to eliminate his partner? He enquired once more.
“No…” I murmured.
I experienced another impact to my abdomen as he forcefully pressed the plank against me; I was unable to breathe. He was gradually thrusting it into me.
He is likely pleased that Vera has departed, to be frank. I believe he did not have a strong affection for her. I questioned why he engaged with her for an extended period. However, I now comprehend; he was merely anticipating your completion of the task he assigned to you,” Jack stated.
“No,” I reiterated. “He would never.”
“Would he not?”“Jack enquired with a laugh as he distanced himself from me.”
I did not murder anyone. I did not do it. “The soup was contaminated by an individual in the kitchen,” I stated, struggling for breath.
He faced me again and released the plank onto the ground.
“Did Jayce instruct you to say that?”He enquired with a smile that instilled an unsettling sensation in me.
