They likely heard the disturbance clearly from the hallway.
What actions has my lady undertaken? What precipitated the gravity of this punishment?Ms. Shirley enquired, her tone tinged with concern as she hurried to Vera’s side and gazed down at me.
This individual has exhibited dishonesty, disrespect, and has been inappropriately pursuing Prince Jayce. “She requires punishment,” Vera seethed.
She lunged at me, but I lacked the strength to evade. The sharpness of her claws constricted around my throat, obstructing my airflow. I coughed, attempting to implore her for release, but I was rendered mute.
I observed the terror on Ms. Shirley’s face and those of the other women as I gasped for air. Blood oozed down my face while her claws relentlessly penetrated my skin. My vision blurred, and dark spots began to obscure my sight; dizziness commenced to envelop me.
“Lady Vera, you are going to harm her,” Ms. Shirley exclaimed. “Please release her!”
“Disobedience must not go unpunished,” Vera hissed as she lifted me off the ground by my throat.
Her nail was sharp as it pressed against my forehead; I felt the blood trickling down my face.
“Let us assess your desirability in the absence of a visage…” Vera remarked, her tone subdued and menacing.
“My Lady, I implore you,” Ms. Shirley beseeched. “What further assistance can she provide for you?” She visited Prince Ashton on your behalf and endeavoured to secure recognition from Prince Jayce for you. She could not pursue him as you suggest.
As my consciousness waned, I was liberated and collapsed to the ground. I coughed to inhale as much air as possible before it was snatched away once more. When the assault ceased, the room fell silent; I speculated whether this was due to her shifting her focus to Ms. Shirley.
Had she overstepped, resulting in Vera’s retribution?
She was unable to.
Is it possible for her to do so?
I partially opened my swollen eyes, grimacing at the accompanying pain. My vision was blurred; Vera stood before a tall figure. It appeared she had reverted to her human form and was retreating from him with trepidation.
I was unable to discern his identity.
“My prince…” she faltered. “I can elucidate.”
“Did you send her to my brother?”
Molly lay on the ground, blood streaming from a substantial laceration on her cheek, her body covered in bruises. Though barely conscious, she managed to raise her head and look up at him with her swollen eyes.
Jayce averted his gaze from her to speak to Vera.
“Were you the one who sent her to Prince Ashton?”He enquired once more; he experienced feelings of anger and betrayal towards this woman.
Requesting his own brother to attempt to manipulate him into engaging in s****l relations with her. He felt repulsed merely contemplating it.
“Your Majesty…” she faltered, retreating a step. “I can elucidate.”
All manifestations of anger that had previously adorned her countenance vanished upon his arrival. The room fell into complete silence; every maid and even the ladies were apprehensive as Jayce evaluated the circumstances. They could sense his fury, unequivocally. Despite his efforts to conceal it, he was acutely aware that his face betrayed his wrath.
I was excessively strong, and his emotions were challenging to restrain.
“I considered that he might have spoken to you…” she attempted to articulate, but he raised his hand to silence her.
“I will tear her apart for what she did to our companion,” Zayden seethed, rage surging within him.
However, he suppressed that anger, concealing it within. He could not permit this instance of rage and vulnerability to endanger all he was striving to achieve.
“Preserve it,” he murmured to her. “I am indifferent to your treatment of your servants.” Such behaviour is unbecoming of a lady. I will not permit my lady to behave in this manner publicly. Do you comprehend?”He remarked, scrutinising her intently.”
She acquiesced and lowered her head, her blonde streaks obscuring her face and concealing her embarrassment.
“Indeed, my prince,” she replied, her words heavy in the atmosphere.
She appeared on the verge of tears, a spectacle he preferred to avoid.
“I am present solely because, as my lady, it is your obligation to host the birthday celebration for Luna Queen Kamila,” he stated, averting his gaze from her.
“Indeed, your majesty,” Vera replied, her eyes widening as she curtsied. “It would be a privilege.” I shall not disappoint you.
‘Ensure that you do not’, Jayce murmured while observing Molly. She lay entirely unconscious, with the sole sign of vitality being the subtle rise and fall of her chest. She was sprawled in a pool of her own blood. The scene was repulsive, yet it elicited a slight pang of anguish within him as he gazed at her.
“We must secure her assistance,” Zayden reiterated, with urgency.
Jayce, once more, disregarded him.
“Clean this mess,” he commanded Vera, gesturing towards Molly as he turned and proceeded to the door.
(Molly’s Perspective)
I endeavoured to open my eyes; the agony was overwhelming, and I recoiled as I became cognisant of my body and the contusions that adorned it. I felt nearly immobilised, as even the slightest movement proved arduous. My respiration was laboured, and my throat was parched due to dehydration; I doubt I could have articulated a word even if I had wished to.
I endeavoured to shift my gaze to survey my environment; my eyes were significantly swollen, and my vision was somewhat blurred. However, from what I could discern, I was in the medical facility still located within the palace.
I have little recollection of the events that transpired, nor do I recall the journey to the medic. I am uncertain of who transported me here. My only memory is of the assault and Lady Vera’s intense anger towards me, stemming from her belief that I had engaged in an affair with Prince Jayce.
The notion was absurd, yet I could not fault her for harbouring such thoughts. I returned to my chamber nearly unclothed, adorned only in his coat. She was already incensed with me due to his request for me to remain after instructing her to depart. I anticipated some form of retribution, but I did not expect her to resort to attempting to take my life.
