Her fingers encircled his neck as she compelled his mouth to return to hers. Kissing him was nearly challenging due to the incessant sounds attempting to escape her throat, yet his own moans were exceedingly pleasurable. She desired to encapsulate the sound and transport it with her wherever she travelled.
A reservoir of delight heated the base of her abdomen. He penetrated her more deeply and forcefully brought her down onto him with each thrust. Her vision blurred and her body throbbed as her moans intensified, yet he appeared to desire more from her, as if each sound was a personal gratification.
He must have sensed her tension as his hips collided with hers more swiftly than her body could comprehend. A pressure built within her, rendering her unable to articulate her thoughts to him.
“Hurry,” he lamented near her ear. She desired to retain every bruise he inflicted upon her and wished to permanently inscribe them on her skin as a reminder of the pleasure derived from their acquisition. She never anticipated that a surge of pain could be accompanied by such profound pleasure that she found it inexplicable.
Molly whimpered, “I am-” He subdued her with a kiss and forcefully pressed her against the cold wall as he penetrated her. Her entire body resonated with a tingling sensation, and she realised her fate was sealed.
“Jayce!” Molly exclaimed. The sound reverberated around them, and she secretly wished it would not escape the confines of the cave, yet she found herself indifferent in that moment. She was indifferent to whether anyone had overheard them; let them listen.
“Damn it, Molly.” Jayce lamented as he reached his climax within her. She reached her zenith moments prior to his own eruption. Her body felt flaccid in his embrace as his thrusts abruptly diminished, as though his own fatigue was finally overtaking him.
He embraced her as their breaths permeated the atmosphere. She leaned her head on his shoulder and shut her eyes. For a brief moment, she permitted herself to imagine that they were ordinary lovers ensnared in a snowstorm. Neither palace nor adversaries seeking their demise. They were ordinary individuals destined for one another despite their numerous conflicts.
As he released her, she recalled all their difficulties, overwhelming her like a suffocating wave. Methodically, she donned her garments as though they were protective armour against the impending challenges.
The flames’ shadows danced upon the walls, creating an illusion of magnified dimensions. Molly reclined against the wall, drawing her legs up to her chest. Somewhere, Colton and his companions were being pursued like prey, while she remained here, impotently awaiting the dawn.
“Are you not fatigued?” Jayce enquired from beside her. He was within reach, yet she suppressed the impulse. She struggled to acclimatise to her intimacy with him, knowing it could be abruptly severed at any moment. She found it difficult to place her trust in someone who appeared so transient, yet her body still craved his solace. Even when she understood intellectually that he would not be able to remain.
“Indeed, however, I doubt I can rest, aware of the events occurring outside.” Molly repositioned herself to confront him. Her gaze followed the contours of his weary visage and descended to the veins on his arms. He momentarily closed his eyes, marvelling at how an individual could appear so angelic while being in proximity to malevolence. At that moment, his beauty was nearly criminal.
“Currently, there is nothing you can undertake. They will engage in combat in the morning, if not with greater intensity.”
Molly observed as Jayce’s hand glided up her leg and settled on her thigh with a sense of nonchalance. Subtle shivers emanated from his touch. “Are you not concerned about Colton and his associates? They are undeserving of this predicament due to our actions. He has consistently shown kindness, yet his entire existence has been disrupted as a result.”
Jayce opened his eyes; the azure tempest always startled her when he was this near. “Colton is fully capable of self-sufficiency. I observed his combat skills last night and must acknowledge that I previously underestimated him. He possesses significantly greater strength than I had credited him with.”
A faint spark ignited within her, as though something was awakening. Molly shut her eyes and endeavoured to delve within herself. An overwhelming wave of fatigue surged through her—could it be?
“What?” Jayce enquired. Molly seized his wrist to silence him.
“I believe my wolf is beginning to awaken.”
“What do you mean she is beginning to awaken? Were you unable to shift?” Jayce sat up slightly straighter, sounding more alert than he had moments earlier.
“No, they administered a substance that induced her slumber within me, preventing me from shifting and defending myself. She has been absent since my abduction—I suspected they had increased the dosage last night, but perhaps that is not the case. I believe I can sense her awakening.”
A presence within her stirred, and she recognised it as her wolf; it was inevitable. Although she was not entirely awake, Molly could sense her interior filling the void left by the drug. She opened her eyes to find Jayce observing her.
“I sense her presence once more; she is awakening.” Molly beamed broadly, the corner of his mouth rising momentarily before reverting to a neutral line as if the smile had never existed.
“Please provide additional information regarding this substance, Molly. Why did you not disclose this information earlier?”
“What do you mean by ‘sooner’? This is our first opportunity to discuss it.” Molly exhaled, recognising that a confrontation was unnecessary. “A guard informed me about a drug developed for their adversaries, which inhibits their ability to shift for several days. Upon injection, it felt as though she had completely vacated my being. She was silent, and I feared she might not return.”
“Are you aware of the quantity of this drug that has been produced? Or what their intentions are regarding its use?”
“He stated that it was prepared for you, but he administered a portion of the dosage to me. That is all the information I possess regarding it.”
Jayce’s gaze deepened in response to her remarks. She understood the tumult of uncertain thoughts and apprehensions that accompanied his newfound awareness. If he were apprehended for a second, they could exploit it against him, potentially leading to Jayce’s demise. Molly inched closer to him and leaned her head against his shoulder.
