“I have an aversion to deceitful individuals,” he stated.
I am not one. “Never again,” Molly murmured. His gaze shifted to her lips, and she challenged herself to reciprocate. She envisioned the sensation of his longing directed towards her, stemming from her own desire rather than coercion. Why would she entertain such thoughts?
After a brief interval, he distanced himself from her as if their encounter had never occurred. He turned away and exited through the door, not returning for the remainder of the night.
Her thoughts speculated on his whereabouts, yet a significant part of her was already aware. He was probably in the bed of the blonde who desired him intensely and may have uttered anything about her merely to possess him.
“Why did you not simply kiss him?” He would have consumed you.
“Silence!” I will never kiss him.Molly yelled into the vacant room during the night. She secured the door and donned her nightgown before settling into bed. Jayce was not destined to be in her future, nor would he ever be. By the time they returned to the castle, the amnesty would have been enacted, granting her freedom. He would not pursue her, nor would he possess the ability to dominate or locate her again. They held no significance to one another, and her wolf could not compel her to believe otherwise.
If he was in another woman’s bed tonight, it was inconsequential to her.
The following morning, Molly awoke to a resounding knock. Reluctantly, she rose from her bed and donned a cloak before opening the door. Colton stood before her with an indifferent expression, nearly diverting her attention from the commotion behind him.
“If you are unable to manage your dog, you will need to have him depart.”
What?”Molly remarked while rubbing her fatigued eyes, ‘It is too early for riddles, Colton.’
“I appreciate a clever riddle, but unfortunately, this is not one.” Your prince is instigating altercations with the townsfolk. “I suspect he accessed the alcohol stash and consumed it all.” Colton stepped aside to reveal Jayce forcefully pushing a large man across the clearing. Molly swiftly donned her boots and exited the door. She lacked the time to contemplate his inebriation. She had not witnessed him intoxicated since the night he assaulted her, and she had no intention of doing so again.
“Do you believe you can arrive here and dictate our actions?” You are not within your jurisdiction! The man shouted vehemently, causing saliva to spray from his mouth. Jayce’s guards stood nearby, arms crossed, observing intently. He must have instructed them to remain at a distance; otherwise, she knew the other man would not have been able to approach him at all. Jayce must have desired conflict.
“Do you believe you can ascend here and dominate us as you do in your realm?” Or perhaps your father lacks sufficient trust in you to make such decisions, does he?The man provoked, audaciously smirking at Jayce. Did he possess a death wish?
Jayce delivered a forceful punch to the man’s jaw, causing him to stagger backward. The man’s shirt was torn, and he had blood on his face, though its origin was unclear. He appeared unresponsive to the man’s jabs, fixated solely on finding something to strike.
The man delivered a punch, causing Molly to wince as it struck him squarely on the nose. She observed his guards advance as blood streamed from his injury. He raised his hands to deter them, prompting an immediate retreat, allowing their prince to behave erratically.
No one appreciates your presence here; why do you fail to comprehend that? The man spat blood at Jayce’s feet and raised his fist for further confrontation. “No one here will trust you or comply with your demands, regardless of your threats.” He evaded a wild punch intended by Jayce. He appeared slightly unsteady, prompting her to speculate whether he had been drinking throughout the night, resulting in his current state of inebriation. It was utterly foolish and absurd. “You can abandon that girl, however.” The man smirked, a malicious expression that caused Jayce to momentarily freeze in apprehension. “I will take care of her for you.” I possess everything she desires or requires.
A cord within Jayce ruptured, and the instant it occurred, it was evident to all. He bellowed and lunged at the man, subduing him to the ground with ferocity, subsequently delivering a barrage of blows with maximum force. Molly lost count of the punches, yet each connected with a sickening crunch that induced her nausea. The man’s visage was drenched in blood, prompting Colton to intervene and restrain Jayce, yet the man remained motionless in the crimson-stained snow. Molly doubted anyone else possessed the strength to accomplish such an act.
His fists were stained with blood. Molly observed his wretched state—he was nearly unrecognisable, clad in tattered, bloodied garments, with dishevelled hair and frantic eyes.
Jayce attempted to dislodge Colton, but he maintained a chokehold. “You’re finished,” Colton declared before Jayce lost consciousness in his grasp.
Jayce was transported and placed in her bed, a location of all choices. Molly observed the numerous vacant cabins, yet he was consistently brought to her. She recognised that she should not be astonished, as her purpose was to cater to his needs. However, she pondered the possibility of him being inebriated upon awakening. Such thoughts induced anxiety, prompting her to attempt to dispel them. She aspired to support him as he had supported her during her illness, yet it was challenging to suppress the fear that threatened to overwhelm her, particularly when memories of his intoxicated state haunted her almost nightly. She vowed to herself that she would never again be in his presence while he was drinking.
