The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 72

She was presumably his partner, thus he intended to allow the man to handle her himself.

The location featured guards at the primary entrance to the estate and guard dogs, as the wedding was hosting affluent guests. Infiltration was the sole option, thus they parked the rental car some distance away and traversed the woods to the north of the estate to gain entry.

All were cognisant that Stella remained impervious to Nolan’s Charm; even when he activated his Gamma Charm, it yielded no success with her.

Nolan was irked, to put it mildly; he had never encountered a human woman from whom he could not extract information through charm. He informed them that she appeared to be attracted to him, having even discerned the indicative signs of her arousal.

Enzo understood that a Gamma could not enchant his own Mate, a fact acknowledged by the entire unit, including Nolan himself. It revealed much about this woman; Nolan was disturbed by her humanity. If she were his Mate, and Nolan was not entirely convinced of this, nor was his wolf Oscar, they detected no scent.

However, it was not a full moon, and when Ryder called to offer Nolan another opportunity with the woman, he eagerly accepted, even rubbing his hands together in anticipation.

They had recently returned home to the pack, and he had scarcely had the opportunity to inform his mother about the incident involving Stella. She was exceedingly enthusiastic about the prospect of Nolan ultimately discovering his mate.

Prior to Ryder’s notification regarding Brianna’s escape from Alpha Nathan, it was understood that her last known location was at Stella’s, suggesting that Stella might possess information about Brianna’s whereabouts.

As he observed the man, he found it intriguing to hear the low growl emitted by Nolan upon witnessing her attempt to escape from a human male.

I observed as his wolf lunged towards the woman at maximum speed, an action typically uncharacteristic in a room populated by humans. Guide her away from the two individuals, one being her father and the other, as he had observed, a junior associate at her father’s firm.

I observed both of them glance at Nolan as he escorted Stella across the dance floor. I noticed her father direct his gaze towards them and then to Miguel, instructing him, “Remain here; I will fetch her, and we shall resolve this.”

Enzo did not anticipate that occurrence, given his observations. Nolan was fully engaged, despite the full moon being a week away. Nolan was the group’s charmer, yet he adhered to his own principles, never engaging with humans, as he believed it was unethical.

Enzo observed them on the dance floor, noting Nolan’s interaction with the girl, including a kiss, which was unprecedented; he had never witnessed Nolan engage so intimately with a human woman before, having only seen flirtation and some physical contact.

Stella overstepped boundaries by intervening between Nolan and Miguel, engaging in intimate physical contact with the woman. Enzo attempted to caution him to temper his behaviour, emphasising that such conduct might be permissible within a Pack but was inappropriate in the human realm, particularly at an upscale wedding.

Although it infuriated her, likely as Nolan intended, he had just verbally referred to her as his woman. Suddenly, he became entirely focused on Stella, and any efforts by Nolan to charm her for information regarding Brianna ceased. It appeared he intended to seduce the woman, who was offering minimal resistance.

Enzo was able to perceive the heartbeats of both individuals.

Nolan was irrevocably captivated the moment his lips touched hers. Observed Nolan assist Stella in tidying up; it was evident that he could not simply seize her and exit the ballroom, especially when he was fully aroused and prepared to mate with her.

The man quickly located a bedroom. Having reviewed the house plans, his memory would have guided him on the appropriate route. Enzo was walking behind them, intrigued by the extent to which Nolan would proceed.

The room lacked soundproofing, and as Enzo leaned against the wall to text Ryder about their arrival and a disruption in the evening’s plans, he could hear the woman’s cries of pleasure, shook his head, but smiled to himself.

Upon hearing Nolan instruct the woman to declare her allegiance to him, he realised she was unequivocally the man’s Mate; both he and his wolf were instinctively attempting to assert their claim over a human and secure her reciprocal acknowledgement. The foolish woman conveyed to him what he desired to hear. She was entirely unaware of the content of her statements.

He then departed, exhaling deeply.

This was not the appropriate method to assert ownership over a human; they needed to be introduced and informed of their Mate, educated about the transformation, and explained the concepts of Marking and Mating. Nolan appeared to be utterly uncontrollable, and the human girl was now entangled in a situation beyond her comprehension, bound to Nolan without any awareness of the ramifications of her statements, which was understandable given that no prior explanations had been provided to her.
