“Not those individuals.” “The ones concerning my son,” she articulated, sensing Layla’s escalating aggression within her; nothing provoked her wolf more than a threat to their offspring. She had not transformed in years and was uncertain if she still possessed the ability to do so. However, deep within her, Brianna was confident that Layla would transform her into her grey and white wolf if it were the sole means to save their son. At that moment, Layla was prowling within Brianna’s mind, her hackles raised and her ears pinned flat against her head.
She was escorted to her vehicle in the parking lot, glared at his unit, as she unlocked her Nissan Rogue. “Will they all be attending?””
“No, only I.” Nathan smiled at her and dismissed his unit with a wave. “They will follow our car shortly.” He entered the front passenger seat. “This is an impressive vehicle,” he remarked while examining it.
She was already aware of this, having invested in the platinum model equipped with advanced safety features and Pro Pilot Assist for enhanced driving convenience. She had not learnt to drive until she was separated from her peers, purchased her first car at 23, and acquired this vehicle just a year ago. She had a strong affinity for her car and was contemplating it for her entire fleet of company vehicles.
The Nissan Rogue amused her greatly, as it resonated with her rebellious spirit, while also providing ample space.
Travelled to Finley’s residence to collect Logan; she arrived slightly early, which was unavoidable. Exited the vehicle alongside Alpha Nathan. “Remain here; I do not require Logan to become agitated,” she murmured as she passed him, observed him halt and lean against the car, and recognised her statement.
I traversed the pathway and rang the doorbell, expressing my apologies to Finley’s mother, Samantha, for needing to collect Logan prematurely. I observed the woman glance at the man beside her vehicle before smiling and enquiring, “Is your boyfriend attractive?””
“No.” Brianna shook her head and refrained from providing any further explanation.
Logan was taken aback upon seeing her. “We have a visitor,” she informed him, prompting a frown from him. His expression shifted to one of irritation as she escorted him outside, where his gaze fell upon Alpha Nathan.
Observed Alpha Nathan standing and opening the back door for Logan to enter the vehicle, smiling at the boy and ruffling his hair, saying, “Good to see you, son.”
Logan swiftly evaded and entered the car, but it was the pronounced growl emanating from behind her that prompted her to turn her head. She observed Alpha Nathan also pivot his head as he closed the door.
“Enter the vehicle, Brianna,” he commanded, his gaze already scanning the surroundings as she observed him inhale, attempting to detect the presence of another. “Not mine,” he affirmed. “In the car now,” he reiterated.
Brianna rushed around the vehicle. She had never encountered this issue previously. It was only after this man appeared, presumably bringing trouble, that she was in the car. “Buckle up,” she instructed Logan while inserting the keys into the ignition, her gaze remaining fixed on Alpha Nathan. He continued to search the vicinity, oblivious to the reality that she was now alone in her car with her son. She probably believed she would simply comply with his instructions.
Engaged the ignition and activated the central locking mechanism to exclude him, shifted the vehicle into drive, observed his gaze shift towards hers as he comprehended her intentions, extended his hand towards the door handle, while she pressed the accelerator and rapidly departed down the street, witnessing him in the rearview mirror, standing with his hands on his hips, shaking his head in disapproval.
The foolish man should never have exited the vehicle; now he was isolated and confronted by the entity that had growled at them.
“Mother?””
“I am uncertain; we must depart, Logan,” she conveyed to him candidly.
“Where shall we proceed?” What was his request this time?“
Where is the location? At that moment, she was unaware and simply driving away. She doubted the safety of their house.
It was evident that he had been observing her. She likely felt as she did yesterday: “He wants us to relocate to his pack in Canada,” she responded to his other question, unwilling to deceive him.
“What?” What is the reason?”
“I am uncertain,” she replied, shaking her head. “He simply appeared.” She merged onto the 126 and proceeded into the city, exiting at Green Hills and navigating towards Heights, where Stella resided. She was not at home at the moment, but Brianna possessed a key. It is hoped they would remain secure there until she could devise a solution or alternative location.
“Is Aunty Stella at home, Mother?”Logan enquired as they arrived at her driveway and the car was absent.
“No, depart.” In Denver. “I am confident she will not object; I will contact her once we are indoors.” She utilised the key and entered. Logan appeared apprehensive. “Everything will be fine, Logan,” she attempted to console him.
He merely gazed at her, doubting her credibility; she could not fault him for this, as their lives had been disrupted by Alpha Nathan a week prior, and now he had returned to torment them once more. It ought to be her decision to reside within a pack or not. Indeed, he could compel her to join his pack through coercive means. However, he was unable to prevent her from deviating once more. No one could prevent that. And it was her intended course of action.
