The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 38

Aggressively

The position included numerous benefits: a company vehicle, a salary increase, accommodation for the initial year, travel reimbursements, and relocation expenses. Brianna could not deny Stella her desire to go. She had exerted considerable effort and deserved it. I would miss her immensely; however, at this moment, her and Logan’s three-month residence in Canada for the store’s inauguration may potentially transition into a permanent relocation if circumstances do not stabilise and return to normalcy here.

You may resign from a position at your discretion. What is the significance?Stella enquired.

“Wood Industries, once you are employed, it is typically a lifelong commitment.” Your departure requires the boss’s approval. “I understand it may seem peculiar,” she gestured to Stella to halt the forthcoming enquiries. “You essentially relinquish control over your life upon agreeing to the new employer.”

“You departed without authorization.” Violated your contract?”

“No, I departed without informing anyone…” she shrugged. “That man, the first to enter the store, is named Luca; Mr. Woods is the second-in-command of the company.” He probably identified me and informed his employer or something similar. It was not accurate. He did not recognise her, but this would provide Stella with some closure.

“Are you experiencing difficulties?””

“No, they are incapable of taking any action against me, aside from harassing me at this juncture.”

“Your life is peculiar, Brianna,” she remarked, shaking her head, “although a guaranteed lifelong position offers considerable security.”

“Was your life not peculiar?”Brianna smiled at her. She recognised that it was appealing to humans, a guaranteed lifelong employment. They, however, were not subjected to arbitrary assaults, coordinated enemy offensives, or being thrust into the frontline by their Alpha to defend and sacrifice themselves for his pack at his discretion at any moment. They should not have had to lose family members to such circumstances, nor be left abandoned to survive independently after the death of their parents with no one else to care for them.

“I can only hope you possess the discernment to avoid entanglement with Mr. Scrumptious, Stella.”

I observed Stella laugh, stating, “I am unlikely to.” Mr. Scrumptious may reside in my dreams as I pursue the promotion to Canada.

“You have already attained that promotion.” Brianna smiled at her.

“Mister.” Scrumptious is unlikely to move now, so I will keep my distance.” She stood up. “I will send Valoria up upon her arrival. It should not be much longer now.

“Thank you, Stella, and no, he is unlikely to relocate from Florida, ever,” she informed the woman. “Apologies.”

“It’s inconsequential.” Stella shrugged and descended the stairs.

Brianna sighed, realising that entering through the back was prudent, as there were roaming patrols stationed at the front of the store. It appears she significantly irritated him; he was displeased with being denied. He has now experienced the reality of not obtaining his desires.

Bloody Alphas are accustomed to obtaining all their desires. It was high time one of them comprehended that life is inherently unjust. That one could not simply possess what one desired, even if it rightfully belonged to them.

Inhaled deeply and suppressed the pang of pain encroaching upon her chest. Not to be contemplated, no longer belonging to us. She recollected.

Valoria arrived for her final fitting and adjustment, expressed satisfaction with her gown, and exited her office within 45 minutes, all satisfactory. Brianna exited through the back entrance to her courtyard, retracing her steps.

She was en route to the parking lot when she perceived a muted cry of anguish and terror. It was a female. She halted at the sound of male laughter, closed her eyes, despised these alleyways at times, and the foolish men who deemed it acceptable to lure girls into them for what they perceived as amusement. Exclusively to them, not to the woman or girls.

Inhaled and detected four distinct male scents, frowning as they were neither human nor canine, but rather rogues. Inhaled again and discovered that the female was a she-wolf, her nose immediately wrinkling at the scent she detected. Brianna perceived Layla’s snort of irritation; they recognised that odour.

The individuals were reluctant to intervene; the girl was not their concern. However, four rogues against one she-wolf, irrespective of her identity, constituted an inequitable confrontation. Entered the alleyway and observed two rogues leering while one restrained the young she-wolf against the wall, covering her mouth, and the fourth man menacingly groped her, taunting her about the impending ordeal, as she presumed.

A foolish girl, clearly unaccompanied, was restrained against the wall with a hand gripping her throat, another hand covering her mouth to silence her cries, and a knee forced between her thighs.

Layla growled directly at them. None of them detected her approach, yet they were all gazing at her now. The large man held the she-wolf and laughed at her, stating, “More fun, boys,” as she observed the two individuals approaching her.

The fools believed she was a human being. She was neither untrained nor poorly trained. Unbeknownst to them, it would profoundly astonish them. She struck the first man with full wolf velocity and power, breaking his nose, causing him to fall backward, entirely unprepared for her swiftness and force. Executed a roundhouse kick directly into the second individual, who was momentarily stunned by the assault on his companion, propelling him forcefully into the skip, followed by audible expletives from both.

Observed the large individual raise an eyebrow at her and subsequently attempt to scent her; he would detect nothing, akin to every other accursed otherworldly entity.

“Fight, Sadie; I am aware of your capabilities,” she admonished the girl, who stood frozen in fear regarding her predicament. Undoubtedly, she possessed training and was an Alpha female. She had not overlooked the scent on the day she entered her store. She also observed that the girl was physically fit, suggesting she engaged in training. Reluctant to vocalise the girl’s name, yet compelled to do so.

She was confronting two rogues simultaneously in the alley, as both men had risen and approached her together. Although she had trained for this scenario years prior, she had not struck a wolf in nearly a decade; her encounters had predominantly involved humans, who were easily subdued—typically, a single punch delivered with wolf-like strength was sufficient to compel them to flee.

This group was engaged in a physical altercation, with fists and feet being used aggressively. During her struggle against them, she was seized from behind by the third assailant, who successfully restrained her arms, leaving her only the option to utilise her feet.
