“Thank the goddess you enquired, Beta,” the guard expressed, sounding genuinely relieved to be questioned. “It was 3 AM.” I apologise.
“It is not your fault; Sadie is exceptionally intelligent.” He terminated the call.
The guard would not face repercussions, as he was compelled by an Alpha’s directive to remain silent; thus, he was physically incapable of divulging information. The unfortunate individual appeared to be as anxious as the remainder of the pack.
“3 AM.” Ryder glanced at the clock; it was almost 7 PM. The journey lasted 13 hours without breaks for meals or lavatory use, and the father instilled in all his children the importance of the stop, revive and survive policy, advocating for a driving break every two hours to alleviate the monotony of road observation and mitigate fatigue.
