The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 214

They were seated in the Luna suite, where he elucidated to Logan that a Luna is the Mate of the Alpha.

“Your mother is the Luna of this pack.” The boy merely gazed at him in silence.

Ryder relinquished his grievances, assisted the boy in configuring his PS5, and even engaged in several gaming sessions with him. Brianna appeared to be entirely unresponsive; regardless of the volume of their laughter or teasing, she did not even so much as blink an eye. It perturbed him slightly. However, he decided to disregard it as her heart rate and respiration were within normal limits. It appeared to be in a state of profound slumber.

Upon receiving no response to his knock, he became concerned that she had departed unnoticed, prompting him to open the door himself to ascertain their presence. His auditory perception was ineffective due to the soundproofing in all the rooms of the pack house, as the mating of wolves could become quite loud, and it was deemed unnecessary for anyone to overhear that.

What he observed, Brianna and Logan laughing and engaging playfully, was a splendid sight; she was exuberantly tickling their son, and both appeared profoundly joyful, causing his own heart to nearly burst with elation.

He yearned to immerse himself in that moment, yet he recognised that Brianna would likely not appreciate it at this time. He fervently hoped that he would soon be able to partake in that familial moment. He observed his son and his companion, brimming with joy and contentment, seemingly devoid of any concerns.

Observing his own partner experience genuine happiness, he was certain of her contentment. He had observed them previously, their interaction creating a distinct, insular realm. However, now to observe it within his own pack.

Ryder anticipated that it would require weeks or even months to occur, yet he could not suppress his smile as he observed them.

This is how it shall be. He now understood how it should have always been; this was also his desire. Brianna could no longer escape him. Although he would not have permitted it previously, after witnessing this, he now desired to experience it daily. Desired to awaken to it. Amidst the resonance of their laughter. To the sounds of their profound happiness.

Observed her produce a raspberry on Logan’s bare abdomen and nearly erupted with laughter as his limbs flailed in an attempt to escape. Ryder discerned that she would not allow him to rise, as she was deriving too much enjoyment from the situation. He contemplated the origin of the delightful moment he was observing.

Nolan and Stella remarked on the audible laughter as he departed for training. Ryder, however, would not attend training, as he needed to devote time to strengthening his bond with Brianna and Layla. To persuade her and her wolf to join him and Aiden.

Felt Stella glide past him into the room, showed no concern, and heard Nolan through the mind-link remark, ‘that is good to hear.’

“It is,” Ryder had returned.

He chuckled as Stella attempted to tickle Logan and pursued him around the room. He observed that Brianna remained amused and smiling, undeterred by his presence in the room, nor did it hinder Stella’s pursuit of the boy. Presumably, there was another activity they all engaged in routinely.

Ryder appreciated that Logan approached him immediately, arms extended in request for assistance. He would ultimately assist the boy, albeit solely to obtain his desired outcome. Brianna is downstairs for breakfast. He recognised that he was urging her a bit too rapidly.

A significant part of him desired the pack to witness their union, and although she appeared elated, it represented his optimal opportunity to bring her downstairs.

He could perceive Rowan’s presence within his son. The wolf remained absent, neither intervening to prevent him from lifting the boy nor placing him on his shoulders, appearing to be amenable today. Yesterday may have been beneficial; perhaps the connection he was establishing with Logan was also influencing the boys’ wolf, a notion he hoped to be true.

It may be attributed to the fact that Brianna and Layla were not exhibiting aggression at this moment. Or in a condition where they were unable to protect themselves from him. He was uncertain which it was.

Aiden was pleased with everything they had observed that morning; they had overheard Layla and Brianna teasing the boy. Although she had not been on the surface, she was present and content. It was the first instance in which they observed anything other than sheer aggression emanating from his Mate.

He was pleased to observe that his mate and son were safe in their vicinity, and it seemed that both were present in their human forms; they could sense his presence, and neither had emerged or growled at him for being in the room or for touching the boy.

Layla had neither growled nor threatened him yesterday when Ryder placed his hands on Brianna, which they both interpreted as a positive indication, considering she had threatened nearly everyone else regarding physical contact; intriguingly, Enzo remained absent from that list.

Although that man had not made any attempt to touch her whatsoever. He observed her, conversed with her, yet predominantly remained passive and took no action. Ryder contemplated the remark made on the plane. Regarding his Gamma blood status, he exhibited a more nuanced approach in its application.

He was pleased to note that both Brianna and Stella were following him, although he had not provided them with much option; however, Brianna could have chosen to remain in her room if she wished. Placed Logan on the ground near the lift and allowed him to press the button.
