The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 207

Protective

“I discovered this information today; it is relatively recent. I believe Luca mentioned it shortly after she turned 18.”

“Hmm, I suspect his paranoia is well-founded.” You exhibit a strong protective instinct towards your younger sister.

Helen acquiesced. “Please, allow me to handle this conversation with her later.” Could you elucidate why you are completely soaked? She scowled at him and gestured towards Logan and Stella with greater specificity than towards him and Nolan.

Nolan chuckled, “Mud fight.”

Ryder negated with a shake of his head. Brianna intended to demonstrate the agility course to Logan, subsequently activating the sprinklers while Nolan and I navigated the course for Logan’s observation.

Heard his father snort with amusement, “I already like her, son,” and observed the man direct his gaze towards Brianna. “It is a pleasure to finally see you, dear.”

Observed her merely gaze at the man and remain silent. He would have predominantly been her Alpha throughout her life here, contemplating her feelings for him. Did she hold him accountable for anything? It was feasible. His father appeared to comprehend and refrained from exerting pressure.

I turned to Logan and said, “I understand you are already quite formidable, having defeated two members of the Alpha Unit in a running challenge decisively.”

I did. I defeated Uncle Nolan and Enzo.

Greetings! Nolan asserted, “I am entitled to a rematch; Stella deceived me into dismounting that treadmill.”

“I still prevailed.” Logan stuck his tongue out at him.

“You certainly did, young man; dismounting from a treadmill is tantamount to conceding defeat.” “Come here and embrace your grandfather,” he extended both arms towards the boy.

Ryder observed as Logan genuinely approached his mother. He may be inclined to converse with the man, but he was not prepared to embrace a total stranger after merely two minutes of dialogue. He observed her hand gliding through the boy’s hair, a gesture of solace, he surmised.

“Not yet prepared,” Ryder remarked softly, gesturing for his father to rise. He opposed the man who was pushing the boy.

“I suppose I am unfamiliar to the boy.” He exhaled with frustration as he rose, then smiled at Logan, “How about dinner in the private dining room?” Are we all together?”

Ryder gazed at Brianna. He was uncertain whether she would find that agreeable. “We shall see, perhaps tomorrow, father.” Allow Brianna and Logan the opportunity to feel more at ease.

Observed his father nod and subsequently turned to depart.

“Ryder, regarding Sadie’s boyfriend, exercise some leniency when you encounter him.” She has reached adulthood, as you are aware.

“If he is willing to meet me,” Ryder scoffed. “Probably believes I will incapacitate him.”

Heard a startled gasp, recognised it as Logan’s, and comprehended what he had uttered in the boy’s presence. He gazed directly at him, stating, “I would never do that, Logan.” He promptly clarified, “It is merely an expression.” He continued, “Come on, let us take you upstairs for a warm shower or bath and some clean, dry clothes.”

He could have berated himself for that remark; he aimed to make the boy feel at ease, yet within the pack, he had succumbed to his Alpha mentality and articulated what was entirely instinctive for him—inflicting harm was integral to his role. How could he elucidate this to young Logan? Had he been raised here, he would have already comprehended this, and it would not pose an issue.

The school offered instruction in both human subjects and courses on wolfen society. He would acquire knowledge regarding the hierarchy and operations of the packs, the dynamics of punishment, and the nature of transgressions, understanding that the Alpha Wolf was not merely the leader but was also obligated to administer discipline to those deserving of it.

He would not genuinely defeat this wolf, who was Sadie’s paramour. A reprimand would suffice, although he remained unaware of the wolf’s identity at this juncture. It appeared that only Luca participated. It is necessary to converse with that individual.

He would pursue him following his shower, having not seen Luca since Sadie had departed down the Alpha corridor, likely attending to pack affairs. He recognised that Luca was competent and managing matters to allow Ryder to concentrate exclusively on Brianna. I was grateful for that. Ryder had no knowledge of Helena’s presence in the office.

Brianna’s Perspective

The Luna Suite. Ryder had escorted her and Logan directly to the location; they had utilised the lift to ascend, a method she had never employed, as she typically preferred the stairs. She was aware of its position and had despised the inscription on the door, ultimately training herself to avoid glancing at it, effectively denying its existence over time. It served merely as another reminder of what she would never become.

He had unlocked the door for her and Logan by swiping a card over the lock, reminiscent of a hotel, she presumed. This was a new feature; the last time she had visited, the door had conventional handles with keyholes. All components must have been upgraded. She observed that the pack-house appeared somewhat altered, more contemporary than previously. Ryder had substituted all the windows and flooring and observed the presence of external shutters. Probable to exclude the winter chill.
