The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 165

Grasped

He received a profoundly contrite expression from his Gamma upon reuniting with them in the lobby. “Apologies, Alpha.” I checked on her approximately 15 minutes ago.

“It is acceptable, Nolan,” Ryder conceded, unable to hold the man accountable. “I am the one who frightened her away.”

“What?” In what manner? How did you ascertain her absence?Nolan enquired of him.

Luca was in the lobby and believed he had seen her. He was uncertain, so I enquired of you.

“How did you intimidate her?””

Ryder gazed directly at him, perceiving the concern in his Gamma; the man was apprehensive about her. “I texted her.” “It’s the full moon,” she sighed, “to allow me to see her.”

“I believe she is not yet prepared for that, Ryder.” The man now wore a frown.

“Evidently not,” he acknowledged, “now she is fleeing.”

I believe not; Logan remains upstairs. Perhaps merely overwhelmed by it. She will return.

“Where is Luca?”Enzo interjected. They had traversed the lobby and were now outside on the sidewalk, searching for any indications of the man.

“Monitoring her to the best of his ability.” Do not establish a mind link with him. He is unable to detect her scent. Is indeed monitoring the auditory phenomenon of running footsteps. He must concentrate entirely. Reportedly capable of tracking his phone.

“Understood.” Enzo acknowledged.

Conversely, they are now capable of executing that in real time. “Nolan, retrieve the car.” He threw the keys to him. “You will be operating the vehicle.” Nolan had departed.

He pivoted and gazed at Enzo’s phone. I appreciated the real-time application. Conceived by an Alpha wolf to monitor his Mate, who consistently exhibited defiance and roamed freely at her discretion, without informing him.

Expressed gratitude to the Goddess for the perpetual paranoia of Alphas regarding the potential abduction of their Mates by rivals.

He scowled at the line that continued to shift, as it was far from straight. He exhaled audibly due to his correctness. This was not merely an ordinary nocturnal run. “She is astute, aware that if we cannot observe her, we cannot monitor her movements.” It appeared she was navigating arbitrary corners rapidly, presumably attempting to remain concealed.

Luca was retracing his steps, as her incessant changes in direction perplexed him; however, the man appeared to remain in motion.

“The atmosphere is quite bustling this evening,” Enzo remarked.

“Exclusively present here, probably absent there.”

Their vehicle arrived, and they entered to pursue Luca. The task required 30 minutes to complete. He could not traverse every road in their car that he followed. Several of them exhibited a singular direction. They attempted to utilise the GPS to ascertain his location; however, due to his mobility, it proved ineffective without a fixed position.

Upon their arrival, he was positioned in the centre of the street, eyes shut and head inclined slightly to the right. They parked their car in a double-parked manner adjacent to him on the quiet street.

“Luca?”Ryder enquired of him.

He opened his eyes. “I believe I’ve lost her; she seems to have ceased running,” he sighed. “Layla is exceedingly swift, and we all know she can run indefinitely.”

“Is she nearby?””I believe so,” he acknowledged, “although I have never seen her, not even once.” She is running erratically, potentially several blocks away for all I am aware. I propose we conduct a search on foot, methodically, to avoid arousing her suspicion.

“She will detect us swiftly if she is vigilant for our approach,” Ryder sighed.

“Indeed,” Luca affirmed. “However, if we all attune our ears to the sound of running footsteps, we will be able to locate her.” Who accompanies Logan? He enquired as he peered into the vehicle and discerned that the entire unit was present.

“Stella.” Ryder exhaled and exited the vehicle. “I require your presence here.” He doubted that even Brianna was aware of her location at that moment, as he sprinted at full wolf speed in the open for all to observe, navigating corner after corner, with a distance of approximately 10 kilometres to the actual hotel.

Luca remarked, “It seems her knee has improved.” As Nolan commenced parking the vehicle.

They divided into two groups: he and Luca, and Nolan and Enzo. “If you experience any sensation, Nolan, I wish to be informed, regardless of its insignificance.” He fixed his gaze intently on the man.

The man had remained silent for years, and although he had his reasons, Ryder would no longer tolerate it. Observed his Gamma merely nod before departing with Enzo.

Pivoted and gazed up the street in the opposite direction. I exerted pressure on her, Luca. To observe me.

The man remarked, “Too soon for her, in other words,” but offered no further commentary.

His eyes were open, his sense of smell was suppressed, and Aiden remained vigilant for the sound of approaching footsteps.

He disliked the inability to perceive her scent. Was this the inevitable outcome? Even within the group, assuming he could transport her there. Uncertain of her whereabouts or well-being at any moment, he muttered, “I will have to LoJack my own mate,” after ten minutes of fruitless searching.

“Do not mark her, Ryder,” Luca remarked. “You will then be able to sense her through your bond.”

“And until then?”Ryder abruptly halted and grasped his jaw as it tingled, frowning.

“What is it?”Luca enquired.
