The Alpha’s Second Chance – Chapter 106

Resting

She was uncertain of her course of action and was reluctant to reengage with Pack life, fearing a return to a state of invisibility and insignificance. In the human realm, she was identifiable, and individuals not only desired to meet her but also sought her employment. Valued her contributions, engaged in conversation with her, actively sought her presence, and acknowledged her as an integral member of their community.

She had established a fulfilling life for herself, one in which she was distinctly visible, as humans did not depend on their olfactory sense for recognition. They utilised their vision to observe individuals’ appearances, employing this information to identify others in their vicinity. The humans immediately perceived her presence. It was a pleasurable sensation.

She had longed for something during her upbringing within the pack, something she had never received. A few wolves, like Grace, had acknowledged her presence; she was uncertain of the reason, perhaps their olfactory senses were impaired, leading them to rely on their vision to identify her and navigate around her.

“Will he compel us?” I appreciate my friends.

Brianna beamed at him. “I am aware you possess many.” She appreciated his popularity. She doubted he would be accepted within the pack, particularly if he resembled her; regardless of being an Alpha Wolf, no one would detect his presence or acknowledge him. She preferred that he remain in the human realm, where he would be visible to others.

“Shall we depart?”Logan enquired softly.

“Unlikely.” Brianna exhaled deeply; she had observed Carlos and he could still be present in the hallway.

That contemplation led her to Stella. She had not returned this morning and should have by now; she was likely in Nolan’s room. If he had seen her, he would have departed to fetch her. “His most devoted associates will be observing you.”

“Myself?”He scowled at her. “Why am I the subject of this?””

“Affirmative, you Logan.” You will now be his foremost priority. Incorporating you into his Pack. That is his desire, as he is now aware of your existence.

“What is the reason?””

“It pertains to the dynamics of a pack Alpha Wolf.” Rowan resembles him; he is his preferred type of wolf. Rowan is an Alpha Wolf.

What is the significance of that?He enquired.

“That is an excellent inquiry. Your father will eventually anticipate your assumption of leadership over the pack. He is likely to wish to bequeath it to you, I presume.

“What if I reject that?””

“I am uncertain,” she replied with a shrug, and Brianna remained uninformed. There was no doubt that Ryder and his wolf desired their son to be part of their pack and were likely concerned about the possibility of someone discovering the boy and attempting to reach him. However, no one was aware, thus he remained secure; they had encountered no difficulties throughout the years, as unscentable signified invisible, providing a form of inherent protection from otherworldly beings, not solely wolves, all of which depended on their olfactory senses.

“Will I have an option?” Will he remove me from your presence?”

Brianna was also unaware of that. Ryder dispatched movers to relocate all their possessions and expressed a desire for her to return home, suggesting that she might still have the opportunity to raise him as long as she remained within the pack.

“I am uncertain, to be frank.” The status of wolfen law grants him the unequivocal right to approach and seize you. I possess no status or resources, thus it is advantageous for him, one might assert.

“I do not wish to cohabit with an unfamiliar individual,” he murmured, embracing her.

Brianna candidly expressed, “I do not desire that either,” as she embraced him in return. It appeared she would need to engage in a conversation with Ryder, despite her reluctance to be in his presence.

She could still perceive his scent, and it was so intensely potent that she found it incomprehensible.

She was certain that the rejection she had expressed was genuine; otherwise, she would have experienced anguish each time he was with someone else. Since her departure that night, she had not endured such pain, and frankly, she was grateful for that. It would likely have cost her, her offspring. Her pregnancy could not have endured those pains, which would have resulted in the demise of both her and her wolf.

She remained seated, allowing Logan to nestle against her.

He was silent, as was she. How is Rowan faring?Brianna enquired after a brief interval, having observed him retreat following his designation.

“Perplexed.”

“Did he comprehend the events that transpired?””

“Yes, he stated that Wolf was his father.” He is currently silent.

“Is that acceptable?”“She inquired.”

“Perplexed,” Logan reiterated.

It was merely a matter of time before Ryder returned and knocked on the door; she checked her watch, and Stella’s absence continued to trouble her. What if the woman was in a state of terror, being held captive by Carlos? Retrieved her phone from her pocket and dialled Stella’s number.

 A man responded, “Stella’s phone.”

 She scowled, “Carlos?”“She inquired.”

“Indeed, Brianna,” she recognised that her name would have illuminated the display. “What is occurring?””

She declined with a shake of her head; he addressed her as if they were acquaintances. “What actions have you taken regarding Stella?”“She inquired.”

Stella is well. Resting in my bed upstairs is all.
