Daisy’s Perspective
She stood before her easel. All the items she had ordered had been delivered. Mason escorted her to sign for the items and assist her in transporting them to her room, only to realise that she had limited space to work in there.
She had not disclosed to him the identity of the subject she was about to paint, despite his enquiries. Daisy smiled at him, placed her fingers to her lips, and mimed zipping her mouth shut.
He attempted to elicit information from her, then mocked her, stating that he would simply infiltrate and discover the truth in her absence if she remained uncooperative. It seems that concealing secrets from him was displeasing; she merely laughed, considering it an entertaining game to engage in with him.
Daisy smiled directly at him and gestured towards her new door. It was installed this morning and had new locks fitted; curiously, it previously had only one lock but now possesses three. I will simply secure it. They will exclude you.
“Caelan will possess the master key,” he retorted sharply. “I wager I can persuade him to provide me with a set.”
Daisy had laughed heartily, “As if he would grant that to you.” He has concerns regarding my involvement, she recalled. It seemed improbable, she contemplated, especially after the altercation the previous night and the new directive she had imposed on herself.
Mason had indeed pouted at her, eliciting further laughter from her. Subsequently, with her camera in hand, she captured a photograph of him with his puppy dog eyes, prompting him to pursue her around the room in an attempt to retrieve the camera. He had seized her, entirely neglecting Caelan’s recent directive forbidding any man, except himself, from touching her. She gasped in pain as his arm encircled her waist and he lifted her off the floor, laughing.
He immediately withdrew upon hearing her gasp of pain, stating, “I’m sorry,” as he quickly apologised, “I forgot.”
Daisy sighed and shook her head; it was not his fault, and the moment he released her, the pain diminished. “It is not your responsibility, Mason.”
“I will converse with him,” he assured her.
“Refrain from intervening; allow it to remain as is.” I am not actively pursuing anyone for intimate relations. Therefore, it is of little significance, to be candid. “You are the only male who touches me at all,” she remarked with a shrug. And it was the truth she comprehended. During her time here, only Mason has physically interacted with her, while Caelan has pulled her around, expressing dissatisfaction over various issues.
He stood there gazing at her, then sighed softly, “It is not right, Daisy.” Caelan will retract it upon realising his actions and the potential complications they may entail.
Daisy harboured significant scepticism, yet the cheerful atmosphere in the room had dissipated, and Mason departed to fulfil his Beta responsibilities. She presumed. She was seated on the floor configuring her printer and linking it to her laptop and phone when he re-entered the room with Alex, Caelan’s Gamma, who were carrying several portable tables.
“To accommodate all your supplies.”
“Thank you,” she expressed with a smile directed at them.
Alex stood there, frowning down at her, tilting his head as he scrutinised her intently. She returned his gaze, and after a full minute, she enquired, “What?””
“Nothing!”He shrugged, stating, “You seem altered, distinct from how you were the last time you resided here in the pack.”
“Oh, do I indeed?” It is likely due to my lack of a bond with Caelan now,” she conjectured.
He nodded, yet his gaze remained fixed on her for an additional ten seconds before he exited the room with Mason, remarking, “I’m correct, aren’t I, Joe?””
Mason affirmed, “Yes.”
Daisy gazed at the door, then dismissed it. She did not perceive any significant change, likely attributable to being under 18 and having been Mated to Caelan the last time he genuinely regarded her. Or how she had experienced no emotions during the past three months of her stay here. He possessed the future Gamma and could have, had he deemed it appropriate, perceived her emotions or absence thereof. It was more probable that his father, Baden, was involved, as he was the actual Gamma at that time.
Daisy did not remember seeing Baden at all; she did not recall encountering anyone other than Mason or Caelan. She had also not cared. Daisy dismissed those thoughts and refocused on the task at hand, preparing to organise her palette and colour selections.
Daisy had already selected the photograph of Caelan, the enchanting capture. She needed to print it to observe all the inflections and light variations for accuracy. Notwithstanding the prevailing tension between them, she was genuinely anticipating this project and was quite eager to resume work.
She adored painting portraits, and why wouldn’t she? They were all handsome men, she chuckled to herself. Possessed an excellent employment opportunity. She envisioned this would be no different, and the fact that she had successfully captured a genuine smile from him would result in an extraordinary portrait.
She had not yet informed Luna Elizabeth or Lydia about receiving the Magic shot, as she wished to keep it a surprise for both. If she disclosed this information, they would both come down to see it. Ruíning4er astonishment. Although she still needed to obtain the photograph of Lydia and Caelan together, she would focus solely on Caelan for the time being.
