She would be permitted to reside elsewhere and operate in her studio, never to disturb him again.
She understood that Mason could manage all her contracts and would probably do so, suggesting it to avoid his office and remain off his radar entirely.
Accomplishing this would imply that she would never need to enter the Alpha’s office. Mason, she understood, would approach her, finalise all the particulars, and present her with the contracts, allowing her to live in tranquilly. She might acquire a modest one-bedroom flat adjacent to her studio and reside there on the periphery of the forest. That would be pleasant.
Mason returned with an abundance of food arranged on a tray, accompanied by numerous snacks. It appeared he was preparing for her confinement in this room for an extended duration. Her arched eyebrow at the laden tray prompted him to laugh and inform her that he was unaware of her culinary preferences, thus he had provided an array of choices.
He then excused himself, citing obligations related to his Beta responsibilities. She could easily envision what they were. Damage control is probable, given the events that transpired in the hallway.
Caelan’s Perspective
Both of his parents were evidently displeased and irritated by his behaviour; his mother vehemently criticised him regarding the folly of his actions concerning an unmated she-wolf, failing to mention Daisy’s name even once. Or assert that she was his former mate either. That appeared to be of no significance to her whatsoever.
His father merely appeared disheartened by him. However, it conveyed very little substance. He appeared to comprehend Caelan’s anger and possessiveness, which he still harboured for the woman he had once again Alpha Ordered. Despite his resolution to refrain from such actions, Hudson found himself desiring that command over her.
His wolf continued to prowl within his mind, agitatedly flicking its tail, still desiring Caelan to descend and mate with Daisy or to summon Amelia for mating himself. His beast appeared resolute in retaining its claim on Amelia, desiring her exclusively.
This was not alleviating the situation in any manner.
He sensed Hudson surge to the surface twice while his mother berated him, each instance triggered by her refusal to mention Daisy by name. It appeared to be infuriating Hudson significantly. Her elevated eyebrow at his abrupt entrance did not deter him. He was now the Alpha Wolf, and although she retained the Luna Rank within the pack, he, Caelan, could, if he wished, revoke that status and retire her.
They could operate a pack without a Luna. Some packs required Alphas to endure decades in search of their Goddess-Gifted Mate. Alpha has assumed responsibility for the Luna duties with assistance from their Alpha Unit. He is capable of doing that if he so desires.
Caelan was aware that once the triplets were Mated, his parents would utilise his plane for a deserved vacation. Thus, it would solely be him and his Unit in command, without oversight, although Caelan believed such oversight was unnecessary.
At that moment, his mother and father held precisely the contrary opinion. His mother had explicitly questioned her Mate’s decision to resign and permit Caelan to assume control. Hudson expressed his discontent with a snarl, prompting her wolf to emerge immediately, though it did not respond; it merely asserted its presence, disapproving of the perceived disrespect.
Her human counterpart had initially demonstrated it. Hudson was merely responding to it. It had also vexed Caelan. He had diligently acquired the knowledge and skills necessary to manage this pack, ensuring its profitability. He possessed both a business degree and an accounting degree to effectively oversee the pack’s finances and had initiated new business ventures over the years, which had already enhanced the pack’s prosperity.
An Alpha-on-Alpha confrontation should not involve her asserting that he was unprepared to assume leadership. He was prepared and had been for years, indeed. Had this occurred years prior, circumstances might have diverged, he mused internally, albeit it was improbable.
His focus returned to her when she recognised that he was no longer heeding her yelling and ranting; she jabbed a finger into his forehead and called his name sharply. Caelan had ceased to actively listen; his eyes followed her movements as she paced the room, but he had tuned her out some time prior.
Heard his father snort and attempt to suppress his amusement, only to be struck on the back of the head by his own mate, who admonished, “It’s not funny.” His father appeared neither perturbed nor irritated by the blow he had received. Caelan had observed her perform the action countless times; his father was accustomed to it.
“Respond to me, Caelan.” She redirected her focus towards him.
Caelan, however, was unable to respond to her. He was unaware of the question necessary to provide an answer. His gaze shifted to his father, who remained silent, merely observing him with a subtle smirk.
What was the inquiry?“He enquired plainly.”
She was fixating her gaze directly upon him now. “At what point did you cease to listen?”
“Some time ago,” he replied candidly. There was no merit in deceiving her, and he could not accurately remember when he had ceased to heed her tirades.
“When will you visit Mark and meet Lydia?” This Caelan will resolve all issues concerning that she-wolf.
“No, it will not.” Caelan asserted succinctly, “And I cannot mark her unless Hudson consents.” He does not desire Lydia or her wolf, Skylar, for that matter.
