The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 9

Discontented

He cleared his throat, stating, “Do not articulate it in that manner, Daisy.” After peering inside, he closed the door and remarked, “First floor, no balcony.”

She sighed; it had been a decade. “I reside on the third floor with a balcony in Seattle, correct?”

“The directives from Alpha,” he whispered.

Daisy enquired, “Mason, what events are occurring at Thiago’s tonight?””

He enquired with a laugh, “Do you wish to go dancing?””

“Indeed, I will reconnect with my friends; I am present solely for the Ceremony before departing for Canada.”

“What?”“Since when has the Alpha denied permission for that?” He was now gazing at her.

“Indeed, he has.” I secured a two-year contract from him.

MASON scowled at her while ascending the stairs. “Oh, you are referring to Alpha Ronan.”

“He is the Alpha,” she chuckled. “Who’d you… Oh.” She recognised he had been referring to Caelan.

“I am sceptical that Caelan will consent to that contract.”

“It is not his responsibility, Mason,” she asserted, clarifying that the contract was with her Alpha, Ronan, who is Caelan’s father. He could not override it. “Will you be joining us tonight for some dancing?””

He chuckled at her, saying, “You resemble your former self… you know, prior to.”

“I am aware; everything is satisfactory, I assure you.”

Mason embraced her. “I am relieved; I was genuinely concerned about you, Daisy.”

“Do not worry; I am now well.” “I assure you,” she smiled at him.

He nodded and then gazed intently at her. “Amelia is accompanying you!”He expressed his astonishment.

“Affirmative,” she replied, “Dancing?””

“Certainly, I will collect you at 9.” He opened the door for her and escorted her into her room, a modest accommodation for visiting wolves. One bedroom, one bathroom and a comfortable sofa for seating. That was all. She had a perspective of the pathway leading to the training grounds, but that was essentially all. She utilised the mind-link to reach out to several of her former high school acquaintances and arrange a lunch followed by dinner. She also discovered that several of them intended to go to Thiago’s that evening as well.

Everything was proceeding exceptionally well, reminiscent of adolescence; although they were somewhat surprised by her return to the group, they appeared pleased and eager to socialise. It genuinely felt pleasant to be at home. It is possible that upon her return in two years, all would be satisfactory. She may explore the area to identify a suitable location for her art studio during her visit.

Caelan’s Perspective

Anticipating Daisy’s arrival was not well received; he exited his father’s office, which would soon become his own. Forcefully closed the door behind him. He comprehended the rationale but failed to grasp the necessity of her presence. Her loyalty to his father should suffice, should it not?

The girl, he sighed; the woman, he corrected himself, was now 28. Her birthday had passed, as it had every year she was absent. He despised that day.

Caelan was unwilling to encounter her. His father and mother had encountered her occasionally, with his father and the current Beta having seen her at least once annually for the past decade. Possessed contracts for her signature. She appeared content residing apart from this group, in Seattle.

He resided here, while she was located an hour and a half distant. Had not returned, not a single time. However, as he was poised to assume the role of Alpha, his father was adamant that she return to the pack solely for his inauguration ceremony and to affirm her allegiance to him. Caelan was sceptical about her attendance.

Followed to his former room, unlocked it, and entered forcefully. Gazed at it, remaining entirely sealed. No one entered here except him, typically only to cause destruction. The entire location was completely devastated, with the exception of the bed.

In an attempt to self-soothe, he pondered why she had not simply declined to attend. He was indifferent to whether she made a pledge or not. She could seek another pack, and he would be indifferent. He perceived his wolf, Hudson, snarl at him within his mind at that notion.

“Curse you, Hudson,” he retorted sharply to his wolf.

His lamentable wolf continued to mourn Amelia, persistently whining about it on certain days. She was permanently lost to Hudson. Daisy had murdered her.

Despite this awareness, his cursed wolf not only favoured the accursed woman but also yearned for her absence. It irritated Caelan more than anything else. He was aware of her location. He was aware of the degrees she had obtained and the grades she had achieved. An exemplary student, which is unsurprising, consistently achieved high grades even during high school.

He propelled a fragment of a previously damaged chair across the room and leaned against the door, closing his eyes. How could he possibly gaze upon her? Did not wish to. She had been entirely drained the last time he had encountered her. Devoid of internal substance, he was rejected. He did not hold her accountable for that. She was correct. They were discontented and had always been so.

 “You were insufferable,” Hudson retorted.
