The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 77

Struggle

Caelan walked in the door and looked right at him, wanted him to report. He had and the man had simply turned in for the night. Mason had watched him stop briefly on the first floor and look down the hallway to where her room was, maybe stood for 5 seconds, then he turned and moved on, heading for his room.

His eyes had returned to the room to find Beta Arthur walking right ever to him, leaned casually on the wall next to him “my.. my….”

Mason raised an eyebrow at him.

“Nice set of eyes the woman has.”

“Stop.” Mason shot at him with a warning glare.

“Hmm. I’m betting by the look on your face, that’s the first time you’ve seen it.”

“Enough Beta.” he grated and rolled his Aura right at him, letting him know that yes he was a Beta but was also Alpha-blooded too.

The man tilted his head, and smiled right at him like it didn’t phase him at all “We all saw it. Just so you know. You might like to know. My Mate’s eyes glow too.” He nodded to him and then walked off, back over to his alpha, who had been watching them.

Was the man trying to tell him something? Perhaps he understood what was going on, or maybe he was trying to convey that he was up for a private conversation before he left ason didn’t know.

But just great every one of them Alpha and Beta’s had seen it, including Alpha Ronan and his own father, there was no hope in hiding it then. Caelan was going to find out, but if this lot started talking about it Caelan would be on him like a shot for not bringing it up with him the minute he walked in the door.

He downed his beer and one long drink and stalked off up to his own room.

“Not now,” he retorted through the mind-link. I preferred to avoid the subject.

“Son, what is the source of your anger?”’

“Let it go, Dad,” he responded, severing the connection. He was typically one of the most relaxed and easy-going wolves in the pack, so his departure in a fit of anger and annoyance did not go unnoticed.

Mason removed his clothing and observed the interior of his right bicep; it was not the first occasion he had examined the mark there. I have not seen Daisy’s back since the other day when I was treated in the pack hospital. Mason had not observed the entirety, yet he was inclined to wager that she possessed five moons extending along her back, akin to the five moons adorning the interior of his arm. It emerged the night she departed. At 2 AM, the branding caused excruciating pain.

I was unaware of its significance at that moment. He noted that it was the anniversary of her birth. Approximately, this was likely the precise moment of her birth.

He still remembered that night with remarkable clarity. At the age of four, he awoke in the middle of the night in his bedroom, crawled out of bed, and gazed out of the window. He experienced pervasive coldness and heard a distant, sorrowful baby cry, which evoked a sense of pain within him, even at the tender age of four, leaving him feeling profoundly cold and isolated.

He exited his room to awaken his father.

“Father, I hear an infant crying,” he had tapped his slumbering father’s shoulder while standing beside the bed.

His father’s eyes had barely opened, gazing at him in a state of half-sleep, before he closed them again and sighed.

“Father, I hear an infant wailing,” he reiterated.

“Son,” he sighed, sounding weary to little Joe’s ears. “There is no baby crying.” He had not even opened his eyes.

“But father,” he tugged at his father’s arm.

He heard the baby crying outside in the snow, “the baby’s crying.”

“Baby Joe does not exist.”

“However, father.”

“Return to your bed, son.” “I hear no baby,” he gently urged Joe towards the door. “It was merely a dream, son.”

Joe departed, leaving his father scowling; a solitary, cold baby was crying somewhere outside in the debris. He was aware of it; he could sense it. He was able to perceive it.

He was convinced, even if his father was not. There was a baby and he was very worried, something was going to happen to that baby, if he didn’t go and find it. Went back to his room and looked out the window worriedly.

“If daddy won’t help, I will find the baby myself’ he had pulled on a pair of shoes and headed for the door to the room. But he had not been big enough to get it open. Struggled for many minutes with it, before going to his room and getting his small chair to use to stand on so he could better reach the door handle and open the door.
