The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 74

Wolves

That being said. The man was notorious for his viciousness, having murdered his own brother to seize control of the pack at the age of 25, commanding a substantial pack and a considerable number of skilled warriors. The man was a pure-blooded Alpha wolf.

Caelan was not among them; such individuals are scarce. Caelan’s father was born an Alpha male, while his mother hailed from a Delta bloodline; both are formidable lines, yet they did not confer upon him pure blood status.

Mason possessed a superior lineage compared to Caelan. Simply lacked the appropriate lineage to assume the role of Alpha. However, if an incident were to occur involving Caelan and he lacked an heir, he had already arranged for Mason to assume the role of the new Alpha. A contingency: few packs possessed one, yet due to Caelan’s history and absence of a Mate, it was essential. Mason had merely nodded in response when he was informed. No objections whatsoever.

Caelan observed Daisy departing from the Alpha and Beta, directing her gaze towards him before shifting her attention back to them. He noted that both were scrutinising his interaction with Daisy, yet he remained indifferent to their opinions. He redirected his gaze to her, observing her glance in the direction he had indicated; she comprehended his unvoiced inquiry.

“I provided my artistic services; Beta has expressed interest in Alpha.”

Anger surged within him at that term; he bore a cursed name. “May I leave?”“She inquired.”

Caelan nodded, though could feel anger rolling off of him, he really did not like her calling him Alpha, when he had a name, he didn’t understand her, sometimes she called him Caelan and other times Alpha. Why?

‘Calm down Caelan .’ Mason urged him again.

He glared right at his Beta and then turned to look back at Alpha Luka and his Beta Arthur, the two of them were just standing there watching him, looked like they’d been having a private joke, Alpha Luka nodded to him and the Beta was smirking right at him, made Caelan want to walk over and punch the man right in the face. Why was he looking at him like that?

Had they been discussing him via their mind-link? He didn’t like it.

Turned and headed for the dining room. Alpha Luka fell in step with him, and MASON stepped back automatically out of respect.

“Seems that young lady is a problem for you Alpha Caelan.” He commented though sounded fully amused to Caelan ear.

“It’s not a problem.”

“Hmm, if you say so.” sounded like he didn’t believe him.

“Found your Mate finally I hear.” he turned the attention back to Alpha Luka, all Alpha’s enjoyed talking about their Mates’ it was the easiest way to distract one.

“I did. She is handful to say the least.” he smiled “caused me all sorts of grief, constantly till she marked me.”

“Did she designate you?”He enquired, which was atypical; most Alpha males would never permit that and would always mark their mates first.

“Indeed, I was completely taken by surprise.” However, she indicated her right back.

“Congratulations, then.”

He nodded in acknowledgement, saying, “Thank you.”

“Please refrain from mentioning that woman during dinner,” Caelan requested. He received an oddly inquisitive glance, yet the man nodded in silence.

Alphas have consistently possessed individual motivations for their requests to other Alphas, and most have shown respect for these motivations and complied with the requests. He would probably witness it firsthand; Lydia would be at dinner, seated with her father and brother, and her likely familiar address would elucidate why he preferred not to mention the woman.

Caelan was also correct.

Lydia positioned herself between him and her father, frequently touching his arm and referring to him as Caelan Darling, as was her custom. Despite their previous conversation, she reverted to her familiar behaviour, as if nothing had transpired. It appeared that she was untroubled by his infidelity and was unlikely to be affected by it in the future. The girl appeared to be irrational; any other she-wolf would have abandoned him for such behaviour, but she did not.

He observed Alpha Luka observing them, and his irritation towards her occasionally manifested. He attempted to suppress it, particularly in the presence of her father, yet at times he was unable to do so. Particularly when she spoke as though she were already the Luna of his pack. Irked him instantly. She wasn’t the Luna, he’d told her she wasn’t going to be, and yet she went on like she was the Luna. Maybe he wouldn’t settle after all.

Caelan received a sceptical glance from both the imposing figure and his Beta, which he chose to disregard. The dinner proceeded smoothly, except for his irritation with the woman seated beside him. All six courses were delectable; he was uncertain why there were six, as it was his mother’s insistence, yet he observed that everyone consumed everything. Wolves naturally consumed substantial amounts of food, as their elevated metabolisms required significant energy. Providing sustenance not only for their human companions but also for their lupine counterparts.

Caelan refrained from disputing the menu with his mother, simply placing his food down on the soup, which he neither desired nor appreciated; he doubted other wolves would opt for it willingly, as he had never witnessed one choose that option voluntarily. Aside from that, he had permitted her to pursue her Luna activities. She had been a Luna for more than 30 years.
