She opened her eyes as a shudder coursed through her; that was a memory she wished to forget. She remained standing there five minutes later when her door opened, revealing Caelan, who gazed at her for approximately ten seconds.
“I apologize,” he stated, then shut the door and departed.
That is unprecedented, she contemplated, Caelan apologising to her after he had issued an Alpha Order. He had never previously engaged in that activity. She acknowledged her apology; however, his Order remained in effect. He did not revoke it. The man evidently had problems. Perhaps he required therapy, she contemplated.
It may benefit him. It had assisted her.
Prohibited from departing the pack and now mandated to reside in the pack-house, it was unclear what transpired in that man’s mind or what he desired from her. He had a partner; why did he continue to engage with her at all? She was unaware.
Undoubtedly, returning to this pack was a misjudgment on Alpha Ronan’s part. He ought to have left her in the human realm and never requested her return. It would likely have been more advantageous for both parties; however, at this juncture, Daisy was primarily contemplating that it would have been more beneficial for Caelan.
She was content with her life and herself, having established a settled and comfortable existence with Amelia; however, she now found herself once again within the man’s gaze. It appeared to be within his range of fire.
Daisy had liberated him, a decision she understood he desired. Although he recognised that he had found his Mate, he was still unable to engage with her effectively. Her presence vexed the man; regardless of her actions, it was likely to perpetually annoy him.
She had never succeeded in making him happy.
He remained resentful after all these years, likely still attributing blame to her. She exhaled deeply and collapsed onto the bed, gazing at the ceiling, concluding that she must maintain her distance from him. There was little else she could do at this juncture.
However, with that portrait to create.. She would have to pursue the man discreetly.
The future Luna had solicited her to clandestinely observe and photograph him. If he apprehended her, she would face consequences.
Caelan’s Perspective
His gaze shifted to Mason. “Could you repeat that?”“he enquired, a subtle harshness evident in his tone. He did not require reiteration.
He comprehended it distinctly the initial time. She enquired about the availability of a room in the unoccupied accommodation. Was the woman entirely irrational?
That location served merely as a transient refuge for youthful, lustful wolves to engage in copulation with any and all living beings present. They would all recognise her identity. Her former self. Unmated wolves may find the prospect of copulating with a former Luna wolf appealing. Some of them would likely appreciate it, he could easily envision.
Most she-wolves remained in their familial residences until they were mated. It is evident that she was reluctant to return to her family’s residence. Presumably, her independence from living alone rendered her unable to do so. Caelan did not desire her presence near her family either. He deliberately distanced himself from them, noting their persistence despite his decision to de-rank them. They retreated to their former residence as he had instructed.
Caelan continued to gaze at Mason, who had not reiterated his statement.
The expression on his Alpha’s face likely conveyed significant meaning. He had assigned the woman a room within the pack-house, in fact. Although modest, it provided all her necessities: a bed, a bathroom, a comfortable couch and a television equipped with all available premium channels. The sole absence was a kitchen. She had the option to dine in the pack-house dining room or in the town. He was indifferent to that.
The room she occupied was indistinguishable from those in the unoccupied apartments. The furniture was superior because it was a room designated for visiting high-ranking members of the packs.
What additional desires did she possess? a bloodstained suit.
Mason acknowledged him with a nod, indicating that it was a negative response. “I also disapprove of the idea; I will inform her later when I encounter her.”
Caelan acknowledged that his Beta was astute and was aware of the circumstances in that location. However, he was unable to concentrate on anything; he instinctively understood that the obstinate woman would challenge him. It appeared she enjoyed denying him recently. He disapproved of her newfound independence, which irritated him.
“I shall undertake it independently,” he murmured to Mason after approximately five minutes of futile effort. Caelan rose from his desk. It seemed he would need to establish certain regulations regarding her. She may have forgotten the experience of residing within a pack and adhering to directives.
Caelan paused outside her bedroom door to compose himself, as he did not wish to raise his voice at her. A succinct declaration should suffice. Rapped on the door, received no response.
