Lark collided with Loch, exerting the full force of his Royal Alpha lineage, causing the suite door to buckle and subsequently shatter. They emerged into the corridor, with Lark being the sole conscious individual. Loch lay unconscious, while Kaiden had reverted to his human form. The man was sprawled on the floor amidst the shattered remnants of the door and the glass from the window into the room.
Unconscious, akin to his wolf.
Lark loomed over him, still growling at the unconscious man, desiring more than mere unconsciousness; he craved a tangible confrontation with this individual.
Mason had to pacify his own wolf. It required several minutes, and before he departed, he slashed the man along his side with extended claws.
He approached Daisy, who was confined against the wall a few feet away, ensnared within his father’s embrace. Lark growled at him, still incensed and desiring the man to move aside.
Cullen struck Lark in the face with a backhanded blow. “Enough, Lark,” he asserted. Lark bared his teeth at Cullen, emitting a low, menacing growl.
Cullen stepped back, permitting Lark to gaze up at Daisy, who looked down at his wolf with sorrow in her eyes. Lark huffed and nuzzled against his younger sister, determined to protect her with all his strength, just as Ava and Sonja would.
He positioned himself directly in front of her, unwilling to surrender control back to MASON. As she gently patted his head, Lark felt a sense of calm; his wolf gazed up at her as she expressed her gratitude, saying, “Thank you.”
“Father, I require trousers,” he communicated telepathically to his father.
He nodded in acknowledgement and departed. He returned promptly, Lark adjusted their position, and he donned his trousers before turning to her. “Are you well?”
“I am, but you are not,” she indicated towards his injuries.
Mason acknowledged his numerous wounds, confident they would mend with time, likely within a few hours. Neither he nor Lark was particularly troubled by them at that moment. “They’ll heal,” he reassured her, yet she remained visibly anxious.
He turned to observe Caelan, who was still restrained by nearly everyone. Hudson was persistently struggling to be released, as evidenced by the continual flickering of light and dark green in his eyes. It was evident to Mason that Hudson harboured a desire to kill Kaiden, despite the fact that Kaiden was currently unconscious and posed no immediate threat.
Kaiden and his wolf attempted to Mark Daisy without her consent. They would not tolerate this, as she had previously endured a similar experience, which remained vivid in their memories, having only discovered the truth of the matter a few hours prior.
Neither of them desired that for her again. However, Hudson had occasionally required Mason’s intervention to prevent him from marking her over the past month.
The situation was deteriorating, yet all anticipated a confrontation between Alphas.
That is the reason they were all present at the pack hospital outside her room, ready to intervene and prevent it.
Mason exhaled deeply and approached Caelan and Hudson. “Calm down,” he instructed. “She is fine; go to her.”
Hudson’s gaze shifted to her, fixed for a moment, and then he yielded control. Mason signalled for everyone to allow Caelan to rise.
Caelan stood, his gaze fixed on Daisy, when he heard a groan from Kaiden. He shifted his attention to the man, but Mason placed a hand on Caelan and guided him across the hall to where Daisy was positioned. Her scent would soothe him and his beast.
Abandoned him in her presence to approach Alpha Kaiden, whose eyes were open. He directed his gaze towards Mason and declared, “Repeat that action and I will terminate you,” conveying lethal intent to ensure comprehension of the gravity of the situation. He then instructed the nurses at the station, who were positioned against the wall, “Summon Maurice to examine him.”
“Affirmative, Beta,” one of them responded.
“I will escort Daisy back to the pack house with Caelan; we will address Kaiden subsequently,” he murmured the latter part. He had violated the primary rule, and Luna Elizabeth was likely to react vehemently.
Mason turned and approached Daisy. Caelan gazed down at her, holding her hand. “Let us proceed, you two; Alpha Kaiden will elucidate his actions and offer an apology in the presence of Luna Elizabeth.”
She may be soliciting an Alpha oath from the man to ensure that he and his beast remain restrained and adhere to all her regulations until Daisy determines her preferred Mate.
This evening has devolved significantly.
Caelan’s Perspective
Observing the unconscious individual did not alleviate his or Hudson’s fury regarding AlphaKaiden’s attempt to Mark Daisy without her consent.
He attempted to disregard their conversation, to remain uninvolved; however, the moment both Alex and his father rose, fully attentive and with their Gamma instincts heightened, he recognised that something was amiss in that room.
He had attuned his wolf’s hearing to the room, which was not soundproof. He discerned Alpha Kaiden essentially admonishing her to restrain her wolf, asserting that they would not tolerate disrespect. Caelan frowned; he disapproved of the manner in which the man addressed her. A Luna often posed a challenge for an Alpha, particularly prior to being Marked and Mated, a situation that typically resolved thereafter. However, until that time, it could be exceedingly frustrating and exasperating.
Particularly an Alpha-blooded individual, quite formidable. Caelan anticipated a confrontation with her eventually. He had witnessed her unleash her power on several occasions, and he recalled Mason’s assertion regarding the energy emanating from her. He was apprehensive about experiencing that force firsthand.
Alpha Kaiden consistently exhibited a demeanour of composure and poise, leading Caelan to believe that he anticipated Daisy’s submission, as well as that of her wolf. However, the man was mistaken. Daisy’s defiance was escalating daily. Freed from John’s blood bond, which had previously muted her identity, she was now embracing her Alpha lineage, and Caelan would not be surprised if she, akin to Mason’s speculation, erupted with fury at some juncture. This seemed to align with what had transpired with Rose.
He disregarded the sound the moment he heard the man kiss her, unable to bear it; anger surged within him as multiple hands restrained him. Hudson yearned to tear that man and his wolf asunder for laying a hand on her. They had not even kissed her yet, since she had discovered they were her Mate. He had desired to, but her sudden awakening had taken precedence for him and his wolf.
His singular focus was to enter the room and eliminate Alpha Kaiden after hearing her frantic cry for Mason. However, he was overwhelmed by numerous bodies employing the wolves’ strength against him, ultimately resulting in his being restrained on the floor, with his own father exerting his Alpha’s Aura to forcibly suppress his wolf within him.
