Caelan viewpoint
Caelan was shocked when Daisy told him she had gone through years of therapy to get over what he had done to her, but it shouldn’t have surprised him given how she had been when she left him. Shaken to learn his parents paid for her therapy. That was intentionally left out of her file, so he had no idea about it.
He went through her file every second month, not that his parents knew about that either, and he had free access to his father’s office since it would be his at some point, so he could see and learn how to run the pack efficiently.
Her suggestion that he might need therapy shocked him. Really didn’t like hearing that, Caelan knew his issues ran deep and that his behaviour towards Daisy had been terrible due to Rose’s obscene demands, which he’d taken out on Daisy. Very unfair and cruel.
He was unable to resist, almost felt compelled to vent his anger at her, and hated himself every time. Only afterward. Why he did that to her was beyond her. Alpha ordered her again after she answered. That should have ended it.
He knew after the first time he ordered her to tell him why she did this to him and couldn’t. She was unaware of her honesty. But whenever his anger flared, he would stalk up to their room and do it again. Even on the way up there, he knew it would hurt her. He tried to talk himself out of it, practically screamed at himself, but his body had no control and he could not talk himself out of it. All he could do was link to MASON and hope the man could get there in time to stop him.
Perhaps John was right—he now believed he would kill her.
When Daisy told him she was going to see Maurice to make sure there would be no pup, Hudson was upset and wanted to mark her now to claim her. Caelan’s heart nearly broke when he said it casually and screamed at her. He should mark her again, Hudson was right. Only one thing stopped him.
He knew she would resent him. She had rejected him before, and it was best for them.
He wanted to stop her from doing something she’d regret. Wish he could tell her she was his Goddess-Gifted Mate right then, but how could he after what he did to her? Let her go, needed to.
He wouldn’t be saddled with Daisy again after Daisy said so. He wondered why she didn’t know He was to her. He knew.
Why couldn’t she smell him? She probably didn’t smell him at 18 because Amelia was gone.
Now that Amelia was back, Caelan wondered why she couldn’t smell him. Alpha-blooded wolves could sometimes smell their Goddess-Gifted Mates before a full moon. She had royal alpha blood.
Was the Goddess punishing him for mistreating her? It was feasible.
After thinking he knew what Daisy was for half a life, she came home and he could scent her again within a week. Every day she was here, her scent grew stronger to him.
Mason was there to keep him from grabbing her and burying his fangs, so he tried to stay calm.
Reclaiming her. He had mated her, so he was done. Hudson had seemed calm and happy to wait for the full moon, Mark said. She threw out Maurice and the morning pill.
Caelan tried to reason with her to stop her from doing something stupid, but she didn’t care that she’d regret it when she scented him out, she hadn’t been in heat, and the chances were slim.
Had begged her, even he heard the pain in his voice at what she was about to do, casually walking away like it didn’t matter.
Hudson was going crazy mentally. He would never give up a pup. Not when he only wanted Amelia and Daisy. He was roaring in Caelan’s mind to stop her. Mason was holding him and his beast right now, using his Alpha Aura on Caelan to keep Hudson inside as she left the office to do what she promised.
“Calm down Caelan.” He whispered. “We can fix it.
He shouted, “How can I stop her.”
Tell him, Maurice. He won’t give her the real thing,” Mason sighed.
Caelan sank, “This is a nightmare Joe.” Hudson was calming.
“You must stay calm. She’ll know in six days.”
“I don’t know if Hudson will wait six days.” His wolf was nigh on Alpha-level rage. He was easily triggered.
He stood, went to his desk, sat down, and did his best to contain his beast’s fury at her actions. Run away, rip out of him, mark her, and take her against her will.
‘Maurice.’
‘Yes Alpha.’
He sighed. Daisy is coming to see you.
What for? If that girl gets hurt again, I’ll punch someone.’ He sounded annoyed.
Post-pill morning visit. withhold it from her.
The silence was long. ‘Yours?”
‘Yes, if it happens.’ Caelan told him honestly.
Alpha Caelan ley, do you understand my request?
‘Yes! I’m her Goddess-Gifted Mate. I smell her. He told his pack doctor, likely the only way to get the man’s help, that she doesn’t know it yet.
Another long silence from the man, who seemed to be thinking about it, was followed by a heavy sigh. You should make it official so she doesn’t rip my head off when she finds out.
I order Maurice to give her a placebo instead. ‘Yes Alpha.’ he disconnect.
Hudson seemed to settle after the order, and Caelan looked at Mason. “She’s going to hate me when she finds out, Joe.”
“It’ll be fine Caelan. I’ll talk to her after the full moon if everything goes wrong.”
“You know it will. She’s moved on. Just told me.”
Mason nodded, “I heard Caelan.
Perhaps it’s good. If she’s moved on and seriously dealt with it. When she realises, she may be your Goddess-Gifted Mate.”
Caelan hoped it was true but didn’t believe it. Stands up and looks at Mason “I can’t be here right now, I’ll hunt her down or Hudson will.l just know it.”
“We have meetings in Olympia this afternoon, so let’s go and get you away from temptation.”
She’ll need guarding, Joe.
“Ella is on her 24/7. Don’t worry.”
“24/7?”
That is until she goes to bed. I’ll change and talk to Ella, then we’ll go.”
Caelan nodded, watched Mason leave his office, and linked Oliver to watch over her with his team. He kept Rose away from her at all times. That woman was bad news; he’d have to talk to his father about her and John, who might know more than they said.
John found him and Daisy. After no one else could find Daisy, Caelan didn’t ask how he did it. His father was more concerned with John’s threat to Caelan and Daisy’s health.
