Upon entering her room, Ella smiled directly at her, stating, “That went splendidly.” Continue with that approach; he appeared apprehensive regarding your response, which is your objective. Allow him to experience discomfort.
“I am indebted to you.”
“In technical terms, you owe me two.” Ella prodded her with her shoulder.
“I ponder how I might repay you.”
“Request your associate Mason to pay me a visit at midnight; I will accept Beta time as compensation.”
Daisy erupted in laughter as they both collapsed onto her bed to continue their conversation and merriment. It was immensely gratifying to have someone with whom to converse about any topic. She was aware that Ella would remain silent to others.
Ella was the sole individual to whom she had disclosed her feelings during her union with Caelan. Understood Daisy’s emotional state for the majority of the time, until her desire to escape became so intense that she ceased communication with everyone; even then, Ella made attempts to engage her in conversation.
Daisy was unable to cope at that moment; it had become overwhelming. She refrained from making any negative remarks about Caelan and consequently ceased all communication.
Caelan’s Perspective
He observed Mason exit his office, having claimed he was going to visit one of his sisters; this assertion appeared credible. However, Caelan noted the man’s appearance: his still-damp hair, slicked back without product, and his freshly changed attire. It was uncommon for Caelan to shower and change in the middle of the day without a specific reason.
Caelan was sceptical of Mason’s claim to be checking on Ava or Sonja; he was certain that Mason was actually going to Daisy’s room, and a confrontation was inevitable.
Caelan had never abruptly disappeared from the pack; he would not neglect his responsibilities as Alpha in such a manner. He would not cause concern regarding his whereabouts. It did not reflect his true identity.
The issue was that everyone believed he was missing; even Mason had thought so. He assumed command in Caelan’s absence and dispatched search parties both within and beyond the pack to locate him. It appeared that no one had been able to perceive him within the pack, either through the mind-link or his tether, which was quite peculiar.
Caelan was unaware of having severed his connections with others; how had this transpired? He had not departed from any location! He had recently been in Daisy’s room. Did they fail to verify there? If anyone had entered her room, they would have observed the two of them sleeping unclothed on her bed, his arms encircling her.
He now recognised that he was the sole individual, aside from Daisy, possessing keys to her room; even Mason had not been granted a master key. Caelan desired solitude in that room. Mason, egregiously self-centred, disregarded her and their relationship. Caelan understood that this was the reason the man lacked a key; their proximity incited Caelan’s longstanding jealousy towards him.
However, Mason would undoubtedly have verified Caelan’s presence in Daisy’s room. It ought to have been the initial location the man examined following this morning’s incident, given that Caelan had witnessed her unclothed; where else would he search? Mason understood Caelan more profoundly than Caelan understood himself at times.
The question now arose: could they detect Daisy at that time? What if that is not the case? No Mason would have become frantic in searching for her had she suddenly disappeared as she did previously. If both Caelan and Daisy had suddenly vanished, Mason would have deduced their relationship with certainty. He would need to speak with Mason privately. How did he convey to the man that not only had he engaged with her, but that his wolf had also mated with Amelia extensively?
He ultimately severed ties with his parents and reached out mentally to Mason to ascertain his location, discovering he was at the Alpha bar, which was undoubtedly unfavourable; however, Caelan had little recourse at this juncture.
Entering Daisy’s room had utterly disarmed him. He could not maintain his composure upon hearing her moan, witnessing her self-stimulation, and perceiving the overpowering scent of her arousal.
Caelan had endeavoured to restrain himself since her return to the pack, convincing himself over the years that his perceptions of her were erroneous, and he had genuinely attempted to move on. He had searched exhaustively for his Mate, attempting to persuade himself that the scent he had detected throughout the preceding week, prior to her 18th birthday, was erroneous.
His confusion, stemming from past events, led him to believe she belonged to him. However, as the full moon approached, her scent intensified, confirming his earlier perceptions. Ultimately, he had sabotaged his own life and had no one to blame for her departure but himself.
He contemplated how to cope until the mating ball, having left her sleeping due to an inexplicably distant tether attempting to connect with him, prompting his departure to investigate its peculiar nature.
Alternatively, he would have remained in her bed, awaited her awakening, likely would have kissed her and restrained her to savour every single aspect of her, taking his time with her on this occasion. However, the woman had aroused him so rapidly that he could not restrain himself; his desire to immerse himself in her was so intense that he had taken her far sooner than he had intended. Next time would be distinct; he would ensure it.
Hudson was comfortably ensconced, seemingly content with his union with Amelia, having engaged intimately with his mate. On a positive note, they had not marked her; even Hudson had refrained from attempting to do so, which surprised him somewhat. It was, however, a positive development.
Hudson may have been apprehensive regarding John’s remarks. Daisy remained in slumber; he sensed this through their connection. Although they were no longer Mated, he could effortlessly locate her. His bond with her was robust, surpassing that with any other member of the pack, as it had always been.
He was seated in his office attempting to comprehend his estrangement from the pack; the moment he exited her room, he felt the connection overwhelm him, resulting in a severe headache, as everyone began to shout at him simultaneously.
Caelan did not believe it was him; he had engaged in s****l relations within this pack, had been with Lydia for the past two years, and had never experienced disconnection from that. He had been bonded with Daisy for two years and had never experienced disconnection during their time together. However, she had changed. Caelan was inclined to wager that it was she who had excluded him from the group. It was the sole explanation for his absence coinciding precisely with the duration of his time spent with her.
