The Alpha’s Possession – Chapter 11

Behind

She abandoned this pack and him a decade ago and has not returned. I never anticipated that she would return.

Daisy attempted to present him with a birthday gift and wished him a happy birthday. He was unable to comprehend. How could she simply enter, gaze directly at him in that manner, and appear so joyful? As if nothing had transpired. Had she merely forgotten everything? He sensed Hudson advance to gaze directly at her, as she smiled up at him, having grown taller.

He recognised that he was approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, not significantly shorter than his previous height of 6 feet 6 inches. Her eyes were accentuated by black eyeliner and mascara. It was appropriate for her. Hudson expressed great happiness as he gazed down at her. Wagged his tail within Caelan’s consciousness.

“Amelia,” his wolf nearly purred within his consciousness.

“Remember, gone,” Caelan admonished his wolf. For the past three months of their Mate Bond, Amelia had been absent, including on the day Daisy had rejected him. By that time, she had essentially become human. Another matter he had to address.

“Amelia has returned; I can perceive her presence,” Hudson informed him, appearing quite exhilarated. It is probable that his wolf was correct; she did possess a distinct scent. He inhaled, detecting her scent. Not as she once did, he reflected, unlike when they had been Mated. That was peculiar. His gaze shifted to her neck as she turned to place his gift down, possibly marked by another, yet only his old mark marred her skin. Nonetheless, her scent was distinctly different. There was an unmistakable distinction in her demeanour.

To his utter astonishment, she turned and voluntarily introduced herself to Lydia, subsequently congratulating him on locating his Mate; neither he nor Lydia offered a correction. Believed they appeared well-suited together. Caelan attentively absorbed her every utterance. She genuinely intended it.

Proposed to capture their photograph in a professional manner. He was aware of her proficiency with a camera, a skill acquired during her Bachelor of Arts degree. The woman possessed numerous talents beneficial to the pack. Lydia considered this a favourable notion. He did not comply. Eventually, the girl would depart from him. She presumably located her Mate and departed. He did not require images of her.

Mason escorted her to her room, located on the first floor without a balcony. He ensured that. He would not witness a recurrence of that day. Never. Had there been a room on the ground floor, that is where she would reside.

Caelan discerned her tone, which was entirely playful and teasing. She suggested that she believed Mason intended to place her in his bed. Highly improbable. MASON gazed directly at him and stated, ‘Not going to happen, Caelan.’

“Absolutely not,” Caelan retorted, his tone more than just irate.

Caelan recognised that the two had consistently maintained a close relationship, with Mason always present as the girl matured. It was peculiar, to put it mildly. She consistently recognised when she was in distress or suffering. The two shared a profound connection.

The incident when she fractured her arm during high school gym class. Mason abruptly rose from his chair and exited the classroom, instilling fear in nearly all his classmates, including the teacher. He had been fully aware of her location. Caelan pursued him that day, believing that something was gravely amiss with Mason’s father, mother, or sisters; however, that was not the case.

At that time, both were 17, while Daisy was merely 13. He forcefully traversed the school, intruded into the gym, and disregarded the identities of those present, pushing individuals aside to reach her.

She was seated on the gym floor, weeping and clutching her arm. Caelan observed Mason lift her and assure her that everything would be fine. Caelan transported them to the pack hospital in his vehicle. Mason had remained in the back seat, holding her throughout the journey. She ceased crying the moment he lifted her; his presence provided immediate solace. It has consistently been peculiar.

Caelan had previously observed it as well. The girl appeared unable to stub her toe without Mason being aware of it. Had she not been four years younger than Mason and shared his age, their connection could have been mistaken for that of twins. The werewolf twins exhibited a connection akin to that observed in Mason and Daisy. It was simply bizarre.

Mason had once rescued her from Caelan himself. Interrupted that thought immediately. I will not be attending that location.

When she went missing at 16, Mason was unable to locate her. The man was utterly agitated, leaping from his chair, gasping for breath, and grasping his chest. Caelan believed he was experiencing a heart attack. Subsequently, he had faltered. His eyes closed, and “Daisy” escaped his lips.

Caelan remembered enquiring about his distress.

“Unable… Departed,” he gasped, anguish evident in his tone.

“Departed?””

“I am unable to perceive her,” he finally articulated.

Perceive her; that elucidated much, he could sense her as though she were an extension of himself.

They had sought her out. Mason had searched the pack for her, with Caelan following closely behind. No one appeared to know her whereabouts.

Subsequently, her parents entered and declared her missing that same evening. A few hours later, Mason proved to be correct.
