Caelan needed to ensure that the object was adequately insulated. It is probable that his father had considered that, and it appeared that the air conditioning was likely of the reverse cycle type. However, Caelan would verify regardless. During their next encounter, he would pose the inquiry to his father.
Mason’s abrupt departure from his office, toppling his chair, startled him entirely, causing the pen in his hand to mar the contract he was reviewing, necessitating a reprint. He shouted after his Beta as he exited the office and leaned over his desk to monitor the man’s movements. He provided no response as he fled the office.
Frowning, it was typically only Daisy who could prompt such rapid movement from the man; however, they had encountered her merely twenty minutes prior, and she had appeared entirely well, even laughing to herself, at his expense no less. However, he had relinquished it and was attempting to distance himself from the woman.
He surmised it might be one of Mason’s two sisters. He was exceedingly protective of all his relatives. Caelan dismissed the notion and refocused on the contract in front of him. Mason would establish a mind link with him if it were urgent or required his attention.
Caelan, prepare the hospital immediately. Daisy is not breathing, his beta’s voice communicated through the mind-link approximately seven minutes after he had hurried from the office.
What?Caelan had bellowed, rising abruptly to his feet. Why had he not disclosed earlier that it was Daisy when he fled the office? Hudson was exerting all his effort against Caelan as they fled from his office at full speed, departing the pack-house in the same manner as his Beta had. Proceeding directly to the pack’s hospital, ‘not breathing’—what could that possibly signify? She was well approximately 25 or 30 minutes prior.
He burst through the hospital’s front doors and his gaze landed on her. Reclining with a respiratory tube inserted in her neck, her neck was already entirely contused. He observed evidence of strangulation on her. The bruises were imprints of hands, constricting her with utmost force, aided by their wolf. Deep claw marks were visible on her neck, indicating that the assailant had fully extended their claws.
The perpetrator’s intention was not solely to inflict harm upon her. They intended to assassinate her. Hudson was lamenting internally for Amelia, having likely come close to success. He attempted to pacify his wolf. The unconscious is entirely Hudson.
He had previously lost his Mate, and merely gazing at her evoked a sense of anxiety in his wolf about the possibility of losing her once more. They would need to wait and observe, but as he concentrated on her with all his Alpha senses, Caelan could perceive Amelia still present, merely unconscious like Daisy.
What transpired?Maurice interrupted before Caelan could speak, as he was preoccupied with the woman. Why did he consistently have to witness her adorned with bruises and bloodied?
Mason declared, “John.”
Caelan was attentive, yet appeared unable to articulate words. He observed as Daisy was transported away from him, clinging to Maurice; he remained unaware of the severity of her injuries. He was reluctant to learn the details, yet felt an urgent need to know. “Will she be alright?””
Inhalation. Compressed trachea. The Beta was not incorrect, but she bears deep claw marks encircling her neck, which are still actively haemorrhaging. “I must examine those,” he stated before turning to depart and attend to her injuries.
Caelan recognised that the man would fulfil his duty, heard Mason exclaim, ‘women only,’ observed the man’s irritated frown directed at them, and then proceeded through the door to attend to her injuries.
It was once again her own father that she heard. Initially, Wesson had bitten her, and now this. To attempt to assassinate her, with Wesson accompanying him. What is the reason? Once more, it was illogical.
Mason had indeed captured the man but had liberated him to protect Daisy. The man was aware of his actions and communicated this to his pack’s Beta. The sole individual in this group aside from Caelan himself. You did not wish for them to pursue you regarding Daisy. That reprehensible individual was destined to perish. Caelan intended to sever his head from his body. Hudson once again concurred with Caelan’s thoughts; he desired to undertake the task independently. It felt somewhat peculiar for him and his wolf to coexist harmoniously and reach a consensus for the first time in ten years.
His Beta attempted to dissuade him, which surprised Caelan to a considerable extent; however, he regrettably recognised the rationale in the man’s arguments. Hudson did as well. Neither he nor his wolf desired to be hated by Daisy or Amelia. Consequently, he would pursue that individual relentlessly and inflict severe punishment upon him, enduring this torment for the entirety of his existence, until she granted her consent. If she did not provide it, the man’s existence was poised to transform into a relentless nightmare.
Mason was correct in interrogating that man; he had previously harmed her and now attempted to kill her, indicating a motive must exist. He would ascertain the truth, or Mason would; one of them was destined to extract it from him.
The individual in question, John, realised he had not yet deviated from his expected behaviour. That was peculiar. He must have been aware that Mason was approaching with the intent to kill him in retaliation for the injuries she had incurred; a single bite previously had resulted in Mason tearing strips of flesh from the man, inflicting ten full lashes, and now she sought to eliminate him. The man must have realised there was no means of escape for him.
John was dependent on Daisy pleading with both individuals not to kill him, as he was her father, unbeknownst to him. Caelan was aware that he was, in fact, her biological father.
Caelan would disclose the truth, if necessary, to obtain her consent. Conversely, Mason’s restraint may pose a more significant issue. He was as irate as Caelan.
Caelan closed his eyes and grasped the mental tether connected to John, silencing all other thoughts until only John remained in his consciousness. The man was sprinting at an extraordinary pace, seemingly akin to that of a wolf, heading directly towards the eastern border; he was undoubtedly fleeing. Although not deviating from his course, Caelan had that scoundrel firmly fixed in his thoughts. “You desire to run swiftly, you scoundrel.” He severed the mental connection to inform him of their impending approach, allowing dread to consume him before their arrival. Informed Mason that he was, in fact, fleeing for his life.
