Rejected by the Alpha – Chapter 2

Formidable

“Thank you, Mother,” I chuckled, intertwining my arm with hers. We departed from the residence and reached the ball shortly thereafter.

The vast hall was exquisitely adorned. All individuals were attired in their finest garments. The bonded Alphas occupied one side with their Lunas, while the unbonded Alphas were seated on the opposite side. The unpaired female wolves at the gathering were brimming with enthusiasm.

Shortly, our Alpha made his illustrious entry accompanied by his Luna and proceeded to their designated seat. My father sat next to the Alpha as he is the Beta of the pack.

I fixated on one of the unmated Alphas. I seek to acquire further knowledge regarding the exceptional Alpha. He is impeccably crafted. His beauty incites my jealousy.

How can a man possess such perfection while simultaneously exhibiting such beauty? Is he my companion? I am uncertain as I possess no wolf.

However, he appeared to be a formidable individual. I question whether such a man would be paired with a frail woman like me.

I may be attracted to him solely due to his remarkable appearance.

“What is the matter? Whom are you gazing at?” my mother enquired, interrupting me.

“Nothing, I merely feel somewhat attracted to that man over there,” I stated, gesturing towards the Alpha.

“Cease your actions, Jessica. Are you aware of the Alpha you are indicating? He is the most infamous and merciless Alpha in history. You do not wish to incite the beast within him,” Mother stated.

However, he does not appear to be cruel or ruthless. His appearance is reminiscent of a celestial angel. However, it is often stated that appearances can be misleading, is it not?

“Refrain from pointing at anyone in the future. If I were in your position, I would concentrate on locating my partner.”

“I apologise, mother,” I stated.

My mother was forcibly taken away by her friends, leaving me solitary. I wandered in pursuit of my companion.

The delectable scent of the dish permeated my nostrils. My stomach growled with hunger, prompting me to indulge in some nibbles. Without observing my direction. I stumbled against a solid torso. I was nearly on the ground when strong hands seized my wrist.

“Observe your surroundings,” a deep baritone admonished me as the strong hands released their grip on me.

“I apologised hastily and promptly escaped from his grasp.” I experienced it. I experienced a tingle when he made contact with me.

Is he my companion? Is he the individual? Upon surveying my surroundings to identify who had prevented my fall, I encountered his dark, gloomy gaze. He had pivoted and was gazing at me.

I emitted a faint gasp. He is the Alpha that my mother just cautioned me against.

Jessica’s Position

“What is your name?” he enquired, pursuing me. I retreated hastily and apprehensively.

Initially, his stature was remarkably tall, leaving me acutely aware of my own height deficiency. Secondly, there was a palpable tension surrounding him that appeared to be depleting the air from my lungs.

Additionally, there was an unusual sensation I experienced with him in such proximity. Was this a matter of camaraderie, or was it merely a figment of my imagination?

His gaze penetrated my body, and his eyebrow arched when I failed to respond.

“I merely enquired of you,” he remarked in a dispassionate tone.

“My name is Jessica Joez,” I stated, retreating a step and nearly colliding with a waitress.

“Caution!” he said, yanking me away by my hand. Once more, I experienced the sensation, akin to an unusual electric force or something similar. I recoiled, abruptly withdrawing my hand from his grasp.

The dreadful expression in his eyes suggested he experienced it as well. He turned pale, regarding me with a ferocious gaze as if he would eagerly consume me.

“I am Robert Cotex,” he stated unexpectedly. I had not yet grasped it or understood why he was disclosing his name to me.

However, he grasped my palm firmly, and the subsequent revelation astonished me.

“I, Robert Cotex, repudiate you, Jessica Joez, as my partner and Luna.”

I was astonished. It required over a minute for me to comprehend the situation. I could perceive individuals inhaling sharply. Numerous gazes were directed towards me, all regarding me with pity.

Is this a dream or is it genuinely occurring? Have I just encountered my mate?

That is incorrect. I admonished myself as I attempted to comprehend the true circumstances at hand. The issue was not the meeting. It was the denial.

I recently encountered my partner, but I was promptly rejected. The revelation overwhelmed me, resulting in an outpouring of tears.

“Why? Why did you decline me?” I enquired, unable to restrain my emotions.

It was a difficult reality to accept. The partner I have longed for all my life to love, appreciate, adore, and assist me. That destined partner has just rejected me?
