They exchanged eyes yet remained silent with one another. I was more frustrated by their quiet and indecision.

“Calm down, my friend,” Lucas remarked, tapping my shoulder. This was the first word he had uttered since we emerged. He has consistently been a man of few words, like an introvert.
“We regret to inform you, Jim, that we were unable to intervene. The Alpha King had already restrained her prior to my arrival,” Bria elucidated.

My anger surged within me, and my fist tightened in rage. I have never desired to kill someone as intensely as I do at this moment.

“Are you intending to assume the position?” I enquired of Don, perplexed. I sincerely hope that is not his intention, as it will only exacerbate the situation.

“Are you serious?” Lucas enquired. He may have been genuinely astonished by the compulsion to talk.
Don affirmed with a nod, “Yes, I am.”
“I cannot fathom it. The demise of the eight princes was an astonishing tragedy that destabilised everyone. I am incredulous that one has survived,” Lucas stated.
“No, he is not among the eight princes. He is illegitimate. It appears that the deceased Alpha fathered a child with a palace Omega, resulting in the birth of the prince.”
“Are you suggesting that an illegitimate prince should govern your pack? Does this not contravene established customs?” I enquired, unable to comprehend the situation.
“It is preferable for a competent, albeit illegitimate, prince to govern us rather than a tyrant. Furthermore, it aligns with the will of the Moon Goddess,”
