Rejected by the Alpha – Chapter 107

Wait a moment

My sizable paws penetrated the soil as I raced farther into the forest. The twigs continued to fracture upon contact with my formidable, lupine physique. Shortly, I arrived at the pack house, but I refrained from approaching until I was certain my pursuers were not in proximity. I attempted to detect their scent, but I was unable to do so, leading me to believe they may have become lost in the woods.

I hurried to the pack house, but I circumvented its front side. I wished to remain unseen by the other members of the pack. The rear was filled by the Alphas and their Lunas, which was the direction I proceeded towards. The raucous noise emanating from the front alerted me to the presence of the other members residing in the pack house. They were likely engaged in outside activities, and I was reluctant to reveal myself to them in my current dishevelled condition.

I transformed into my human shape as I approached the rear wing of the home. I was nearly faltering, and the limited power I possessed was diminishing with every step I took.

A woman emerged from the rear entrance, and I felt a sense of relief upon recognising Jessica’s aunt, Liza. She observed me and out a startled shriek. I fell to the ground, unable to continue walking.

“Jimmy!” she exclaimed repeatedly, rushing to my side. She crouched before me, tapping my face and examining my physique.

“Ka…ren…” I uttered, experiencing pain throughout my entire body. I had endured significant suffering, and my body was in pain from the torment I experienced.

“Wait, allow me to summon the pack warriors for assistance,” she stated, attempting to rise, but I grasped her hand.

“No, please refrain. I prefer they do not witness me in this state. It will only exacerbate the situation,” I articulated to her. I hope she comprehends my situation; if the pack warriors observe me in this state, they would undoubtedly enquire more. Shortly, news of my animosity with the Alpha King will disseminate across the pack. They may demand vengeance on my behalf against the Alpha King, but such an endeavour would be disastrous, as they are no match for him. He will break their necks instantaneously. It will inevitably devolve into chaos, which I wish to avoid. This must remain confidential, at least for the time being.

“Alright,” she eventually acquiesced, gazing at me with concern. “What transpired? And where is Jessica?” she enquired.

“Liza, I will address your enquiries later. However, I urgently require water; my throat is parched,” I stammered, emitting another wince.

“Very well. Allow me to assist you,” she grasped my hand and elevated me to my feet. My body was achy, rendering walking somewhat arduous. After considerable effort, she guided me into the pack house via the rear entrance and gently placed me on the bed in their chamber.

A more agonising groan emanated from me as anguish surged through my spine. I closed my eyes momentarily, attempting to withstand the pain.

Liza exited and, moments later, re-entered with a glass of water. She assisted me in sitting up on the bed and provided me with water. Upon the coolness of the water contacting my mouth, I was compelled to consume it in a frenzied manner.  I commenced coughing uncontrollably, exacerbating the anguish I experienced throughout my entire body.

“Calm down, Jim. Wait a moment while I contact the pack Doctor,” Liza murmured, setting the cup of water on the bedside and rising to her feet.

I enquired, “Where is Lucas?” once her cough subsided.

“He attended a meeting but will return shortly,” she responded. “He has been quite concerned about you. We all are. What truly transpired, Jim? Additionally, please inform me of my niece’s whereabouts. What occurred with Jessica?”

I was unable to respond to her inquiry. I found it difficult to acknowledge that my companion has been kidnapped by the merciless Alpha King, and only the Moon Goddess is aware of her current fate.

Since my escape from prison, I have been persistently attempting to establish a mind link with her, but I am unable to connect. It was as though we had been estranged from one another. I have been consumed by fear since that time; my heart aches for my companion and the torment inflicted upon her by the Alpha King.

I fervently hope she remains alive; irrespective of her suffering, I wish for her survival. No matter your location, Jessica, I sincerely hope you continue to advocate for us. I miss you greatly, Jessica. I miss you profoundly to the point of anguish.
