“Phone.” I was a bit slow to react. What phone? Seeing his hand reaching out to me, was he asking for my phone? Hesitantly, I handed it over, and after he entered a string of numbers, he returned it to me.
“My phone number.” After saying that, he turned to leave.
“Hey, wait. Do you have my phone number?”
“That person named Thalia Eve gave it to me.”
“You’re leaving just like that?” We hadn’t even spent fifteen minutes together.
“We’ve met, I’ve given you my number; the purpose has been achieved.” After saying that, he really turned to leave, and by the time I came to my senses, I couldn’t even see his back anymore. What? Is that it? It really is the “Indifferent Wolf.”
The Indifferent Wolf truly lived up to his name, even his days were bland. We dated three days a week: Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday. Wednesday was for dinner, Saturday for movies, and Sunday for sightseeing. Seafood on Wednesday, Western cuisine on Saturday, and Asian food on Sunday. Every Monday, I would receive a dating schedule clearly detailing the time, location, and menu. And if I suddenly wanted to date him on other days, it would go like this…
“Hello, Noble.”
“Hello, Miss.”
“Uh, did I dial the wrong number? Is this Noble King’s phone?” Why does his voice sound so old? Where’s my deep voice?
“Miss, this is the CEO Noble’s phone. The CEO Noble is currently busy and has the butler answering.”
“Oh, please tell him I want to meet him tomorrow.”
“Does the miss have any matters? Do you need to schedule for next week?”
“What? I still need to make an appointment?” Shouldn’t I be considered his girlfriend?
“Any schedule outside of the itinerary needs to be booked in advance.” He still spoke in a businesslike tone. Sudden surprises would no longer occur between us.
During Dinner
I was chattering away, telling jokes in an attempt to amuse the indifferent man in front of me. However, his sense of humor was far from ordinary; throughout the meal, he maintained a blank expression as he chewed his food.
Sniff, sniff.
In front of him, I started to sob, my nose twitching. “Is Noble annoyed with me? Or am I just not good enough? Why won’t you pay any attention to me?” I tried to maintain a pitiful look, hoping to evoke some sympathy from him. In the end, he just looked at me with a strange expression, as if to say, “Keep performing.” I threw my chopsticks down with a flourish, stood up, and shouted at him, “What do you mean? Seriously! You can’t even give me a reaction? What do you think you are? I’m not playing along anymore.”
Don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t actually angry; it was just that my attempts at humor and fake crying weren’t working. I thought I might as well feign some anger—maybe the big boss had never been scolded before and would find it amusing! As it turned out, I failed once again. I turned to leave the restaurant, only to find that no one came after me, so I had to turn back.
“You… you’re just going to let me walk away like this?” I asked, somewhat incredulous. Wasn’t he supposed to chase after me and comfort me? At the very least, the butler should have come out to persuade me to go back, right?
“You said you weren’t eating anymore, didn’t you? I’m respecting your wishes.”
Are you emotionally clueless or just trying to provoke me?!
……..
During the Movie
“I want caramel popcorn, and a large cup of cola.”
Someone grabbed my hand from behind. I turned around to find it was Noble King. He actually took the initiative to hold my hand! Has he finally learned what romance is? My heart raced; wow! His hand was so big and warm, I was lost in the moment.
“Watching a movie should be about ‘watching the movie,'” he said, then let go of my hand.
I really was overthinking it; the indifferent man was still indifferent. Seriously, do you think watching a movie means just staring at the screen, without even eating snacks? I had planned to use the popcorn as an excuse to initiate some hand-holding.
“Ah! So scary!” I leaned toward him.
No response. Fine, I’ll take the initiative. This time, I wrapped my arms around him, pressing my whole body against him, but still no reaction? I looked up at him; his eyes were glued to the screen, not blinking, his body completely still. So, I was hugging a piece of wood? As expected, watching a movie was just about “watching the movie!” Forget it, I actually liked this film, so I might as well behave today.
