Late at night, Arlo still hadn’t left. He had no idea what to do and couldn’t even trust his own memories. Earlier, when his investigator showed him a five-year-old newspaper about Nick and Lily’s engagement, he remembered fragments of those days.
Arlo was overwhelmed by the thoughts flooding his mind. His head throbbed as he recalled begging a woman not to leave him.
“Why can’t I remember her face? Why is it so hard to recall her face?”* Arlo asked himself.
I never loved you, Arlo. Not even once. I just used you. I love someone else, and he’s the only man I’ll marry—not you.”*
“Ahhhh!” Arlo yelled angrily inside his car.
Those words kept echoing in his mind—the voice of a woman whose face he couldn’t remember.
Lily peeked out of the window and saw that Arlo’s car was still parked outside. She wanted to leave the mansion but couldn’t bring herself to do so.
Lily felt restless and uneasy. Her whole body trembled with nerves. She thought she was ready to face him, but now she felt her courage slipping away.
She glanced outside the window again. Arlo had stepped out of his car, and their eyes met. Lily’s chest pounded so hard that she felt like she couldn’t breathe.
“Arlo,” she whispered, her voice trembling as she spoke his name.
Arlo stared at Lily intently.
“So it’s true what he told me? Does he really know me? And is it also true… that we have a child together?”* Arlo questioned in his mind.
He held his head as a sharp pain shot through it. He felt dizzy like the world was spinning. He screamed in pain as he started seeing strange visions he couldn’t explain. This was the first time something like this had ever happened to him.
When Lily saw Arlo struggling to open his car door, she didn’t think twice. She rushed out of her room, running down the stairs.
“Lily!” An older woman called out as she saw her hastily making her way. But Lily didn’t respond. She quickly opened the mansion door and unlatched the gate.
“Arlo! Arlo!” Lily called his name repeatedly as she ran toward him.
Lily felt like a child as she approached Arlo, who was trembling in the cold and drenched in sweat.
“Arlo, my love, I’m here,” Lily said to him.
“My medicine… please, find it. It’s inside my car,” Arlo said weakly, instructing Lily.
Lily immediately searched Arlo’s car for the medicine. She was deeply distressed by his condition. She ransacked the car, but she couldn’t find the medicine he mentioned.
Lily stepped out of the car and knelt in front of Arlo. Her heart broke as she watched him suffer. Arlo was clutching his head, pulling at his hair in pain.
“Daughter, what happened to him?” An elderly woman and an Older man asked Lily, rushing to her side.
“I don’t know. Please, help me!” Lily pleaded, her voice trembling with tears.
“Marcos, let’s get him in the car,” An elderly woman instructed her husband.
Without hesitation, they moved to help Arlo, who was still reeling from the overwhelming pain.
Lily stood up and helped carry Arlo, whose face had already turned pale, into the car.
“Don’t touch me!” Arlo shouted.
“We’re taking you to the hospital,” Lily replied.
Lily ignored Arlo’s outburst. She didn’t have time to argue with him.
Once they had Arlo inside the vehicle, the Older man took the wheel of Arlo’s car. Lily wanted to grab her own phone, but she didn’t have the time since her mind was entirely focused on Arlo.
Instead, Lily took Arlo’s phone. She cursed under her breath when she realized the phone required a password. She considered asking Arlo for it, but she feared he would shout at her again. The older man drove the car as fast as he could.
When they arrived at the hospital, Lily quickly opened the car door and stepped out. An older man assisted her in helping Arlo out of the vehicle. It was a struggle for the two of them because Arlo’s body was so large.
“We’re at the hospital now, Arlo. Just hang in there,” Lily said softly.
Arlo didn’t respond because his vision had already darkened due to the intense pain in his head.
Once inside the hospital, Lily immediately called for a doctor. Two female doctors and a nurse quickly approached.
“Doc, please help him,” Lily pleaded.
“What happened to him?” one of the doctors asked.
“His head suddenly started hurting, and he became panicked,” Lily replied, her voice trembling.
They brought Arlo into a small room, but the doctors did not allow Lily to enter with them.
“Older man, can I borrow your phone?” Lily asked.
The older man quickly pulled his phone from his pocket and handed it to her. Lily called Violet because she didn’t know Arlo’s father’s number by heart. Violet assured Lily that she would take care of the situation and advised her to calm down.
