I cursed as I remembered the receptionist. I forgot her name, but her angelic face remained vivid in my mind. It was hard to forget her innocent and beautiful face. I rolled down my car window and looked toward the Emerald Shores Hotel entrance. The only person I saw was the security guard.
The image of that woman suddenly came to my mind again. I shook my head and unbuckled my seatbelt. Just as I opened my car door, my phone rang. I checked who was calling and immediately answered because it was Dahlia.
“Hello!” I answered.
“Arlo, it’s already 9 PM, honey. Where are you? I’ve been waiting here for a while. You told me we’d have dinner together. I miss you—you know I just got back from London,” Dahlia said in a soft voice.
“Sorry, Dahlia, I’m still in a meeting. I’ll be there in thirty minutes,” I lied, even though I wasn’t in a meeting.
“I’m waiting for you. And I have a surprise for you. Hurry, I miss you so much,” she said before I hung up the call.
She’s one of my flings. She’s a famous model, even participating in international projects like Runway Models.
I stepped out of my car and headed to the small hotel. I smiled at the security guard as I entered and went straight to the front desk. The women I passed couldn’t help but look at me.
“Good evening,” I greeted the receptionist.
When the receptionist raised her face to look at me, I frowned. I thought it was the same woman I met two days ago.
“Sir, may I help you?” she asked politely.
“I just wanted to ask if there’s another receptionist here?” She didn’t immediately answer my question.
“Sir, which woman? I’m the only receptionist here,” she replied.
“Two days ago, I met her. I forgot her name, but she had black curly hair,” I said without hesitation.
She seemed startled by what I said and studied me closely.
“You mean Lily? What do you need from her?” she asked.
“Yeah, I just wanted to thank her,” I replied.
“Oh, I see. Sorry to say, sir, but she left yesterday. She quit her job here,” the woman said sadly.
My mouth fell open at what I heard. I was about to ask her more questions when my phone rang again. I didn’t answer it and instead let my eyes roam around the hotel. When I noticed the receptionist busy with something, I turned my back on her. I didn’t even say goodbye.
I sighed before leaving the spot. I quickly left the hotel and headed to my parked car. Even now, I couldn’t understand why I came to this hotel without any real purpose. Once inside the car, I quickly started the engine. If Dahlia hadn’t called me again, I would’ve completely forgotten she was waiting for me.
