I still didn’t answer. I think I was annoyed with him. When his cell phone rang, he removed his hand from my waist.
He got up and probably grabbed his phone.
He carefully answered the call and stepped out onto the veranda, closing the door softly so I wouldn’t wake up. I got up and looked at him. He seemed serious on the line as if scolding the person he was speaking to.
After a few minutes, I came out of the bathroom. I felt lighter after taking a shower; earlier, my head felt heavy, but now I’m feeling better.
Arlo was no longer in the room. He must have gone downstairs. I grabbed my cell phone and went down as well.
“Good morning, Ma’am Lily. Ma’am Lily, Sir Arlo seemed like he was losing his mind last night when you didn’t answer his calls. We almost stopped breathing, thinking about what might happen to us here in the mansion. If I hadn’t told him you were already asleep, we wouldn’t know what could have happened,” Nikki said to me.
You’re awake already,” Alex said to me with a smile.
“Yes, Alex. How are you?” I said.
“I’m fine.” Alex held my hand.
“Where’s Arlo?” I asked.
“He’s in his library, Ma’am Lily,” Nikki replied to me before excusing herself.
“ I can see and feel how important you are to Arlo. I also know that you love him very much. Whatever challenges may come your way, don’t let go of each other’s hands. I can see that Arlo will do everything for you just to make sure you don’t leave his life. I hope you’ll do the same. I don’t want to see Arlo sad again like when Claire left him,” Alex said. My forehead furrowed slightly at her words.
“Claire?” I asked, confused.
“Arlo’s ex-girlfriend. But that’s in the past. Arlo has long forgotten her. I can see now that you’re the one who has brought color back into his life. Alright, I’ll prepare your breakfast now,” she said. I nodded as Alex turned away.
So Claire was Arlo’s ex.
“Babe,” Arlo called out to me.
I turned to look at him, smiling as he walked down the stairs. He looked tired and as though he hadn’t had enough sleep.
When he reached me, he kissed me on the lips and pulled me close by the waist.
“Aren’t you going to work today?” I asked. He shook his head.
“I just want to spend the whole day with you. Tell me where you want to go, and we’ll go there,” he said, smiling at me.
“Why did you come home so late? You know, I was so worried about you that I started having strange dreams,” I told him.
“Have you dreamed of our wedding yet?” he teased.
“Of course not!” I quickly replied, making him smirk.
When I told him about my dream, his blue eyes widened, and his forehead furrowed.
“That dream of yours will never come true, my baby. I’d stake my life for you, Lily. I’d do everything for you. Even if I lose everything, I won’t lose you, Lily. I know I can be overly dramatic and weird sometimes when it comes to loving you, but honestly, I always pray that no matter what changes, your heart won’t. I want to be the only one your heart beats for until the end of our lives,” Arlo said, placing his right hand over my chest.
Instead of being annoyed with him for coming home so late, my heart pounded so hard, it felt like it was about to burst out of my chest.
“Yes, Alex. How are you?” I said.
“I’m fine.” Alex held my hand.
“Where’s Arlo?” I asked.
“He’s in his library, Ma’am Lily,” Nikki replied to me before excusing herself.
“Daughter, I can see and feel how important you are to Arlo. I also know that you love him very much. Whatever challenges may come your way, don’t let go of each other’s hands. I can see that Arlo will do everything for you just to make sure you don’t leave his life. I hope you’ll do the same, daughter. I don’t want to see Arlo sad again like when Claire left him,” Alex said. My forehead furrowed slightly at her words.
