ARLO
“Good morning, Sir,” greeted my employees cheerfully as I entered our company headquarters. I am the CEO of Bonde’s Mega Winery, and soon, I’ll need to take the reins fully. Thank God fate brought Lily back into my life. For weeks, she’s been on my mind as someone who could help me out.
I instructed my secretary to ensure Lily was at my house by 4 PM and to take care of her needs.
“Make sure you prepare Lily well. But if she doesn’t like what you do, follow her preferences,” I said firmly to her.
“Understood, Sir,” she replied.
“Good!”
I leaned back in my swivel chair, feeling a sense of relief. At last, I wouldn’t have to endure Grandpa and Dad pressuring me into an arranged marriage. This was my life, and I had my own decisions to make. Once I officially became the company’s CEO, my agreement with Lily would end.
I had already told her I wasn’t interested in commitment. Marriage wasn’t in my vocabulary. If I ever did marry her, it would be in another country, where the divorce was easier, unlike here.
But why do I feel this way every time I see Lily’s beautiful face? Her kissable lips—they’re so tempting. Earlier, I almost kissed her. If she hadn’t pushed me away, I don’t think I could have stopped myself.
I was lost in thought when Gilbert and Charles suddenly entered my office.
“You look happy. What’s up?” Gilbert asked.
“I found her,” I said, surprising both of them.
“Who?” Charles asked.
“Miss Lily.”
“Lily?”
“It’s a long story, but she’s the one who’ll help me deal with Dad and Grandpa. She’ll pretend to be my fiancée,” I explained.
“Congrats, then. But what if your Grandpa and Dad find out that you’re just pretending?” Charles asked.
“Don’t worry; we’ll be careful,” I assured him.
“Is she beautiful?” Gilbert asked.
I didn’t answer immediately. Somehow, I didn’t like how his question sounded.
“Yes,” I replied curtly.
“Don’t worry, Arlo. I wouldn’t trade Jasmine for any girl. She was soon my wife. Maybe, Arlo, if you fall in love with Lily, you get to eat what you say you’re not willing to put up with quietly.”My heart goes out to Gilbert.
“Tonight, we need to celebrate Arlo because he will soon be the CEO of the company. Don’t forget to introduce Miss Lily to us.”I was just looking at Charles.
“I’m not available tonight because we have a family dinner and I’m going to introduce Lily to my parents.”
“Next time,” Gilbert said.
They didn’t last long, and they left, too. I knew Charles was going to Montgomery with his old classmate. I’ll go ahead and download the files. Fortunately, I didn’t have an appointment that day.
“Come in,” I said as someone knocked on my door. I didn’t lift my face, and I didn’t look at who came because I was focused on the papers I was holding.
“Hi, honey.”
“Becky, what are you doing here?”I asked.
“You don’t want to see me?” she asked interesting questions.
She was one of my fling girls. She knew we were going to bed. She was beautiful and sexy, but I never thought she would be my girlfriend. Once I introduced her, she would hold me by the neck. We haven’t seen each other for almost five months.
“When did you come?”I asked.
